EHR Go Guide: Registering a Patient Using the Student Portfolio Introduction The Student Portfolio in EHR Go is initially a blank chart that can be used for a variety of documentation and charting activities independently from a case patient chart. This guide specifically describes how you may use your Student Portfolio for registering a new patient and completing documentation. This may be an approach to use when doing work with a partner or other activities indicated by your instructor. Additional resources Please refer to the Student Guide to EHR Go for information on logging in to EHR Go and launching the EHR for an activity. FAQs about the Student Portfolio 1. How do I submit the work in the Student Portfolio to my instructor? a. Like other activities, your work in the Student Portfolio is submitted to your instructor through the Progress Report found under 3: Download Work. 2. Will other users see the work I ve done in the Student Portfolio? a. No. All users see their own instance of the chart. Your work is private. Accessing the Student Portfolio As a student user, the Student Portfolio will always appear in your activity list when logging in to www.ehrgo.com. The Student Portfolio does not need to be assigned by your instructor and will appear automatically with each student account. Select the Student Portfolio activity and the following 1-2-3 process will be displayed. Then select 2: Launch EHR. EHR Go Guide: Registering Patients Using the Student Portfolio G1016.5 2

If it s the first time accessing the EHR for the Student Portfolio, or if you d like to start over from the beginning, select New Session. If you are continuing a previous session, select Resume next to the corresponding session. By default, you will be brought to the Notes tab of the Student Portfolio chart when it initially launches: Select the Account tab on the left side of the screen then Registration. Once at the Registration Details page, select Edit on the bottom, right corner to edit the registration. The registration edit page will appear: EHR Go Guide: Registering Patients Using the Student Portfolio G1016.5 3

Edit the registration per the instructions provided by your instructor. All the fields on this page can be edited. Optional: Include a photo of the patient by selecting Upload photo. Locate an image file (.jpg,.png, etc) and select Open. The photo will then appear. Populate the remaining registration fields. Be sure to scroll down beyond the Patient Information section to also complete the Comment, Emergency Contact, Parent or Guardian, and Guarantor sections. Then select Save. See EHR Go Guide to Registering a New Patient for more details. The patient has now been registered. His or her name should appear in the upper, left corner. EHR Go Guide: Registering Patients Using the Student Portfolio G1016.5 4

You may continue to add additional patient information into the chart, if applicable in the activity assigned by your instructor. If your assignment involves documentation on other parts of the chart, select the appropriate tab on the left side of the screen. For example, if you re entering a documentation note or an assessment, select the Health tab then Notes. Please refer to the corresponding EHR Go Guide for the tab you re using for more information. Once you have finished your documentation, select Close Session. Important! This is how your work is saved. Do not close your browser window or tab without clicking Close Session. EHR Go Guide: Registering Patients Using the Student Portfolio G1016.5 5

Since you may be using your Student Portfolio to register additional patients, it is highly recommended that you rename the session to help you keep track and stay organized. Your sessions will appear below the 2: Launch EHR tab. EHR Go Guide: Registering Patients Using the Student Portfolio G1016.5 6

Click the name of the session that you d like to rename. Type your preferred name then select the check mark to save. You may Resume this session at any point in the future to continue adding information. When you are ready to submit your work to your instructor, select 3: Download Work. EHR Go Guide: Registering Patients Using the Student Portfolio G1016.5 7

Then select Download next to the corresponding session that you d like to submit. A PDF document depicting your work in the session will be generated. Save the document and submit it to your instructor per their preferred method. Please see EHR Go Guide to Completing and Submitting Work for more information. Managing sessions in the Student Portfolio For some courses and activities, your instructor may want you to resume a previous session in your Student Portfolio to build on your previous work. Alternatively, it may be beneficial to start a new session for an activity. When doing so, the EHR will launch in its original state, which is a completely blank chart when using the Student Portfolio. You may create as many sessions within your Student Portfolio, each containing their own registration, if desired. Check with your instructor on how your work in the Student Portfolio should be managed. When continuing an existing session, the Progress Report that you generate in 3: Download Work will include all previous work that was completed in that session. Whereas, if you launched a new session, only the work that was completed in that session will be included on the Progress Report.
