GOA SHIPYARD LIMITED PERSONNEL & ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT GOA SHIPYARD LTD. SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR SC/ST/OBC STUDENTS IN GOA UNDER THE SOCIAL SERVICE PROGRAMME 1. SHORT TITLE AND COMMENCEMENT The Scheme shall be called as Goa Shipyard Ltd. Scheme for Schedule Caste / Schedule Tribe / Other Backward Classes students in Goa. The Scheme shall commence from the academic year 200203 after approval by the Board Directors. 2. OBJECTIVES The objective the Scheme is to provide financial assistance to Schedule Caste / Schedule Tribe Students in State Goa to pursue studies upto graduation including diploma and Technical degree courses. 3. ELIGIBILITY The Scheme shall apply to all Schedule Caste / Schedule Tribe Students/ Other Backward Classes, who are the residents the state Goa and also pursuing their studies in the state Goa. To become eligible the annual income their parents the Students should not exceed Rs.1,50,000/ annum for Technical Diploma & equivalent, NonTechnical degree courses (i.e. B A, B Com, & B Sc.), and Rs.1,50,000/ annum for Engineering, Medical Degree Courses & equivalent and courses like MBA, Nursing, BBA etc. The residents Goa, who are studying in places other than the state Goa, shall not be eligible for the scheme. However, the Students who wish to pursue pressional courses and secured admission in Engineering, Medical college/institute under State quota as State/Central Govt. Policy in any other State will become eligible for the on submission necessary document /certificate from the appropriate Authority. 4 DEFINITIONS In this Scheme, unless the context otherwise requires: i BOARD Means the same meaning as assigned under the Article Association the company as defined in Companies Act 1956.. ii DEGREE COURSES Means three years degree course in Arts, Science, and commerce after passing Higher Secondary or Equivalent Examination from a Govt. recognised college or Institution/Organization. iii TECHNICAL DIPLOMA COURSES Means three years diploma course in any technical discipline after passing X th Standard or equivalent Examination from a Govt. recognised Institution/Organization.
Iv ENGINEERING DEGREE COURSES Means four years engineering course from a Govt.Technical college or an organization or Institution recognised by the Govt. v. Medical Courses Means four and half years Medical course or equivalent from a Govt. college or an Organization or Institution recognised by the Govt. vi STUDENT Means an individual who has passed from any recognised Schools in Goa and belongs to Schedule Caste / Schedule Tribe category possessing requisite Caste Certificate issued by the Competent Authority as the Government Directives and Orders issued from time to time in this regard. vii CHAIRMAN & MANAGING DIRECTOR means CMD the Goa Shipyard Limited, Vaddem House, VascodaGama, GOA 403802 viii INCOME CERTIFICATE means Annual Income Certificate by the Competent Authority as the Government Directives and Orders issued from time to time in this regard. ix RESIDENTIAL CERTIFICATE means Certificate issued by the Competent Authority State Government Goa indicating the number years residence the Student in the State Goa. x GOVERNMENT means the State Government Goa as well as the Central Government India, New Delhi. xi SELECTION COMMITTEE means the Committee consisting 04 members whom 01 is in the cadre General Manager GSL Ltd. who shall act as Chairman and 03 Deputy General Managers/Chief Managers as Members whom one shall be a SC/ST/OBC Representative. 5. CONDITIONS i The students who have passed XII/Xth or equivalent examinations in March/April every year with 60% marks and have secured admission for the degree courses recognised by the state Govt/Govt India. in Arts, Science, Commerce or degree/diploma in Engineering and Medical on full time basis, shall be eligible to apply for the The number s for each stream will be admissible as clause 6 the Scheme. s will not be granted to the Students who pursue Degree Courses /Diploma Courses through distance Education/Correspondence Courses. ii The selected Student shall be granted financial assistance up to completion technical diploma, Graduation including Engineering, Medical degree, subject to satisfactory progress in the intervening year i.e. obtaining minimum 50% marks and passing in all subjects in one attempt, otherwise the Students shall not be eligible for continued The students shall not be eligible to receive this financial
assistance/scholarship if he receives financial assistance / through any other Schemes. iii 50% Assistance shall be allotted to girls. If no girl candidate is available, then the will be given to boys. iv Short listed candidates shall be called for interview by the Selection Committee to assess the formance their previous examinations, Career outlook, family resources and motivation. v To release the, the Students have to submit pro admission to the next academic year in addition to the progress report for intervening iod. The students shall attend the classes regularly and obtain the minimum marks required otherwise the scholarship/ financial assistance will be cancelled. vi No will be granted to Students who have scored less than 50% marks in the examinations. In case a student fails in a year, he/she shall not be eligible for financial assistance for that year. vii Students who are gainfully employed either in full time or part time will not be entitled to the viii The recipients this scholarship Awards shall not have any preference in the matter recruitment for any post in the company. 6. In case any students applies and becomes eligible for the for the fourth year, he will be accommodated within the sanctioned amount, if additional sanction requires the same will be obtained from Chairman & Managing Director. 7. PROCEDURES TO BE FOLLOWED FOR GRANT OF SCHOLARSHIP: i. Every year notices shall be sent to all Colleges in Goa, inviting applications for scholarship from SC/ST/OBC Students. Besides press release will be given in local Newspas. ii. Applications in the prescribed format [Enclosed a copy application] duly received shall be scrutinized by the Selection Committee on the basis merit, Annual Income parents etc. iii. The OfficerinCharge who is looking after SC/ST/OBC subject matter in Pers. & Admn. Department shall be the Exficio Secretary to the Committee. He shall be responsible for convening the Selection Committee Meetings, selection students, disbursement the amount, suvision and monitoring the scheme. He shall also send an annual report to the Chairman & Managing Director to be placed before the Board Director GSL. 8. Chairman & Managing Director shall be the final Authority in the interpretation Clauses made under the Schemes and his decision shall be final and binding.
