Run for the Stars a Success! Home and School tried a different fundraiser this fall, our first annual Run for the Stars! Thanks to you, we raised $16,558.42. We couldn t have done it without our volunteers, our corporate sponsors, Coach and Mrs. Frost, and parents and students going out and getting pledges. We learned a lot this first time out, and are ready to make this an even better event in years to come! Thanks again! FACULTY FAVORITES The Teacher Appreciation Committee has put a binder together to assist parents who would like some suggestions on ways to honor their child s teacher(s) this holiday season (favorite stores, hobbies, etc.) The binder is on the front counter in the office. Thanks so much for your support of our faculty and staff!
We have Lunchroom Volunteers helping each and every day of school. These volunteers choose one day a week and work every other month, helping our kids in the cafeteria. It s a great way to interact with the students. There are still volunteers needed for Lunchroom, especially on Tuesdays! Reach out to our Lunchroom Chair, Shirley Blancas, if you are interested at sdblancas@gmail.com. Thanks to all of our wonderful volunteers! Volunteer Spotlight: Lunchroom Volunteers Library News We had a very successful Scholastic Book Fair. A big thank you to all our library volunteers! We are planning the Barnes & Noble Polar Express Book Fair on Friday December 7, 2018 at the San Jose Blvd. store. In other news, we started our Library Bookworms program, where our 7th and 8th grade students can earn service hours by shelving books. It has been very successful. Thanks, Bookworms! Box Tops for Education Box Tops had its first submission of the school year, and our school will be earning $718 in free cash from this wonderful program. Keep clipping! We are hoping to match or exceed that amount for our next submission in March. The Lazarte family enjoyed sitting in the front row during the Talent Show after winning the entry contest. Thank you to all the families who contributed!
Booster Club News Come out for a fun night of hockey and support Booster Club! See details below. This event is THIS FRIDAY! Congratulations to 5th grader Eve Wilson, winner of our very first Veterans Day Card Contest. Eve s drawing was used on a card that was handed out to local veterans at school and at the VA hospital in Lake City by St. Joseph s volunteer Roxanna Barnes. We had many wonderful submissions to our card contest. Don t miss the next contest...help the office get in the Christmas spirit by participating in our annual Ornament Contest! See the upcoming paper packet for flyer and details. There are ways to financially support the school that don t cost you an extra dime! You can: 1. Shop on Amazon through AmazonSmile, click here for more info. 2. Cut and submit your Box Tops all year long. 3. Participate in Scrip, https://stjosephcs.org/ scrip. 4.
