PRINCIPAL S NEWS 16th November 2018 Yesterday morning, I attended the Shalom Graduation and I loved it. Tanya O Shea from their School Board, spoke about imagination. She encouraged graduates to see the potential that each has to do great things with their lives. She challenged them to imagine the possibilities around what they could experience and achieve, given the unique and individual gifts each was blessed with. We then had the opportunity to hear the Impact Community Choir perform This Is Me, from The Greatest Showman. This eclectic group of people from a range of backgrounds and abilities, sang from the heart, and were acknowledged with a standing ovation. They beautifully communicated a very powerful message to the graduates. I then loved seeing so many of our former graduates recognized for their leadership this year. Many others were inducted into leadership for 2019. I m glad that students from our school have learned to acknowledge their potential. They have learned to dream, learned to take risks and learned the value of effort. These are great attributes for our students to take forward into the future. RE NEWS COLES SPORTS FOR SCHOOLS Sacramental News The next round of Sacramental Preparation is about to begin. We have a lovely group of St Patrick s families taking the journey this year. If you would like your child to be a part of the Sacramental Program for 2018/2019, please contact Anne Sheehan at the Parish Office on 4151 6666. Mini Vinnies Christmas Appeal Every year the St Patrick s school community, led by our Mini Vinnies Team, donates items to assist those less fortunate than themselves at Christmas. St Vincent de Paul collects these donations from us and distributes them to families in need. We are asking each year level to donate specific items for our Christmas Appeal. By each year level donating something different we will be able to make Christmas hampers for local families in need. Thank you St Patrick s! We raised 39 140 vouchers in the recent Coles Sports for Schools promotion. The sports equipment photographed below was purchased for the school using these vouchers. Items purchased included basketballs, soccer balls, netballs, soft dodgeballs, stopwatches, field markers & spot discs, whistles and netball bibs. These resources will be used in the PE program, sport and lunch time activities. Thank you Coles for giving us the opportunity to take part and receive sporting goods as part of this campaign. The students will greatly benefit from the items received. We are asking each year level to donate the following: Prep: Christmas decorations Year 1: New (unused) toys and books Year 2: Pet food: dry and tinned Year 3: Non-perishable Christmas food and drinks Year 4: Non-perishable Christmas food and drinks Year 5: School and Art supplies Year 6: Toiletries Beach supplies (towels, sunglasses, sunscreen, hats, goggles etc) As of Monday, November 5, a basket will be located outside each year level for the donations to be collected. Please open your hearts to those in our community who need our help this Christmas. MILO T20 CRICKET QLD SPORT REPRESENTATIVE LUCY HAMILTON Queensland Cricket Representative Congratulations to our Girls T20 Cricket Team who won the Regional Final against St Michael s, Caboolture last in a very close game, winning by 15 runs.
