The Ridgeway School & Sixth Form College Inspiring learners for their future 9 th May 2018 Dear Parent, I am writing to remind you of some important information as we move towards the examination period. Final Assembly: This will take place during period 4 and 5 on Friday 11 th May. This will be the final assembly for the Year 11 students and amongst other activities we will be awarding Student of the Year certificates and issuing Leavers Ball tickets and Leavers Hoodies for those who chose to order them. During this assembly students may take part in the traditional shirt signing, however, they must cover their signed shirt with a school jumper when leaving the assembly, or may bring an alternative spare shirt to have signed. This is the only permissible opportunity for shirt signing and we ask that students do not write inappropriate comments. Any student found with a signed shirt at other times, or with inappropriate messages, will be removed from the main school and isolated or sent home. Study Leave: Study leave formally begins at 3:15 pm on Tuesday 15 th May. However, subject lessons will continue until the exams are taken in that subject and revision sessions will continue, details of these are attached, including the May Half Term revision sessions. All school buses will continue to run as normal throughout the exam period, and students are welcome to work in school at any point during this time, and of course are strongly encouraged to attend the revision sessions offered. Students will be able to use the Sixth Form Common room and study areas for revision if students are not in lessons following the half term, 4 th June, when the Year 13 students are in exams to ease traffic. They will have access to the Sixth Form Café where students can use their thumb prints, cash or bank card to purchase food and drinks. Students will be expected to follow the sixth form dress code during this period which can be found attached. Examinations: The exam timetables have been issued, if there are any queries of any type these should be directed to the Examinations Office, who can be contacted on exams@ridgewayschool.com. Alternatively, I will work to resolve any issues if students see me with concerns. Students must write all exams in black ink only; a pencil is permitted only when indicated on the exam paper. Students do not need to wear their school uniform for exams that follow after Tuesday 15 th May, however we do ask that they attend the examinations in comfortable clothes that follow the sixth form dress code which is attached.

Leavers Ball: This event takes place on Friday 22 nd June further information regarding this will follow. The ball is taking part at Alexandra Park hotel; students will be enjoying a two course meal, a non-alcoholic drink on arrival and plenty of dancing throughout the evening. If students have any food, allergies or intolerances please ask them to inform their mentor. Arrival at Alexandra Park will be from 6.00pm for a 7.00pm start. Results Day: Results day will be on Thursday 23 rd August, results will be available from approximately 9.00am until 11.00 am. Any students not able to collect their results in person must write a letter to me advising if they would like their results posted, or to be held in school, but would like an email or phone call on the day. If the results need to be posted a stamped, addressed envelope must be provided before study leave begins. If a parent or guardian is collecting for the student, this person must have a letter of authorisation from the student. Only a parent or guardian can collect results on behalf of the student, and only with a letter of authorisation. GCSE Presentation Evening: On 6 th December we will be hosting our annual GCSE Presentation Evening at which students will be presented with their GCSE certificates. Arrival is from 6.00pm and we hope to finish before 8.00 pm. The certificates are not issued to the school until the end of October once all results are confirmed, these are the student s legal documents and proof of qualifications. We would therefore like to invite you and the students to attend this presentation ceremony, where we will also award other prizes to recognise the tremendous efforts of these students over the past two years. If you are able to attend the event, please indicate on the slip below and return to Student Reception, or do get in touch with me via e-mail. Once the students leave, and some go on to other institutions in September it can be very difficult to confirm numbers so your co-operation in this would be truly appreciated. Any certificates uncollected after this evening will be kept in the main school reception for collection when convenient. Unfortunately, they cannot be posted due to the nature of the documents. Any queries, as ever, please do get in touch. And finally. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support and co-operation over the past two years. The students have worked tremendously hard, and I really hope they get the results they both desire and deserve. It has been an absolute pleasure working with them, and yourselves. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Many thanks, Gina Moody Progress Mentor Coordinator for Year 10 and 11
