Students will engage in at least four guided, shared, and independent reading workshops where the emphasis is placed on comprehension, vocabulary development, and reading fluency. All students will develop their writing skills by learning specific strategies and traits while writing for a variety of audiences and purposes. This course will also promote critical analysis and research skill development in connection with fiction and nonfiction texts.
