Dred Scott Trial The 8th grade social studies classes are getting ready to study the Civil War. One of the major causes to the war, was the Dred Scott Trial, which occurred in St. Louis, Missouri. The students recently participated in a reenactment of the famous trial, in order to get a better understanding of how this court case helps spark the Civil War. The students did a great job and we ended with awards for the Best Actor in each class. Our winners this year were Rylan F., Mariah M., and Matthew M.

Sports/Activity Fees Attached you will find a document noting our 2016-2017 Sports/Activity fees. This information was sent home last year but we wanted to remind you of these fees since are clubs, activities and sports are in full swing. When a student joins a club or makes a team Mrs. Gilmore has been sending a slip home with the student notifying the parents the cost for participation. If these fees are not paid, the student will not be allowed to participate. In addition, all school fees must be paid in full for a student to participate in any sports or extra curricular activities.
Pontiac Store The Pontiac Store is something new at Pontiac this year. Students who are doing the right thing at school will be rewarded with a Pontiac Point given by an adult. Students can then use these Pontiac Points at the school store, which is open on Mondays, to purchase merchandise. Merchandise includes items such as pencils, pencil sharpeners, pencil bags, tote bags, sunglasses, bracelets, notebooks, pens, chips, and sodas. It also includes things such as time in the student lounge playing video games and fuss ball, eating outside with friends, free admission to dances and sporting events, and moving to the front of the lunch line. These items are just a few of the merchandise we have. The students seem to love the store and teachers and staff love rewarding students for doing a great job! It's just another positive thing we do here at Pontiac to make school fun for our students!
Have a wonderful weekend!
