BACHELOR OF THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT National code: HEBBE Course Description: The course was designed to ensure that students have the essential skills required by architects at the undergraduate level. Accredited in late 2013 with the Tertiary Education Quality Standards Agency (TEQSA). The course design included input from a range of stakeholders including both architectural and construction firms. Aligned to the recommendations of the Australian Institute of Architects Standards for Undergraduate Programs in Architecture. From this Degree you will: Have advanced technical skills and a substantial knowledge base including design principles and theories relating to the practice of architecture. Be able to create innovative design solutions that respond effectively to client briefs, sustainability principles and are sympathetic to the surrounding natural and built environments. Have the knowledge to articulate appropriate construction techniques, materials and building services into design solutions mindful of embodied energy. Be able to solve architectural problems using a variety of techniques and tools in order to synthesize and apply knowledge to a range of planning and design tasks of varying size and complexity.

Pathways To Further Studies On successful completion of this program you may be eligible for entry into postgraduate Master of Architecture study at other institutions. Admission requirements: LOCAL STUDENTS For students who are completing year 12: Minimum score of 25 in any English VCE Units 3 and 4 subjects or equivalent. Minimum score of 25 in any Maths. Minimum ATAR score of 65. Selection interview. MATURE AGE STUDENTS: Minimum 2 years relevant industry experience. Applicants must participate in selection interview so as to demonstrate capability to undertake work at degree level study and the personal attributes suitable for the profession. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: Minimum overall academic IELTS score of 6.5 with no sub-band less than 6. An equivalent of a minimum study score of 20 in any VCE Units 3 and 4 Maths. Students applying for credit transfer of subjects: a minimum study score of 60 per cent for each completed subject is required. Subjects should be completed in Australian academic institutions or equivalent.

Recognition of Prior Learning: Credits may be given for relevant formal and informal learning or relevant industry experience. Articulation The course has been designed to enable students to articulate from the Advanced Diploma of Building Design (Architectural) (22268VIC) and receive an equivalent of 9 subject credits (approximately 3 semesters). All prospective students are required to submit a folio of work and attend an interview. Course duration: Full-time: 3 years Part-time: 6 years Course location: Epping Assessment methods: Assessment methods include essays, reports, reflective journals, case studies and analysis, oral presentations, projects, portfolios, tests and exams.
