Algebra I Instructor: Linus Oey Open to incoming 9th-10th graders June 21 (Thursday)-July 19 0.5 semester credit (Monday-Thursday), no class July 4 Cost: $325 8:00 am - 11:30 am Open to incoming 9-10th graders, this course focuses on the second semester of Algebra I with special emphasis on factoring polynomials, solving quadratic equations and systems of equations, simplifying radicals and graphing lines and simple curves. This course is designed for students who studied some Algebra I in 8th grade but did not complete all the topics or students enrolled in Algebra I in high school but earned less than a C. World History II Instructor: Mike Doran Open to incoming 10th-11th graders June 21 (Thursday)-July 19 0.5 semester credit (Monday-Thursday), no class July 4 Cost: $325 8:00 am - 11:30 am World History II is a semester long course that focuses on the history of the Modern Middle East, the Rise of Democracy and World War II. It examines the origins of modern day society and continues to explore basic geographical, sociological, political and economic concepts necessary for the study of all social studies courses. Geography knowledge and skills as well as current world news events are emphasized throughout the course. Discussion on current world news will be held to put historical events into perspective. Introduction to Sacred Spaces Instructor: Gary Hortsch Open to incoming 12th graders June 20 (Wednesday)- July 19 0.5 semester credit 8:00-3:30: June 20, 21, 26, July 3, 10, 17 Cost: $325 8:00-11:30: June 28, July 5, 12, 19 This Religious Studies course will study architectural and interior design of Churches, Temples, Mosques and Gardens as places of prayer and worship from a variety of faith traditions. The experience will combine classroom research and presentations with field trips to various local sacred spaces. Students will understand important stages in the history of sacred space, analyze the similarities and differences between Catholic and Protestant Church space, recognize and explain various architectural and interior elements of sacred space for Christian, Jewish and Muslim practice and evaluate the spiritual experience of gardens designed as sacred space. lsprep.org
Physical Education Instructor: Aaron Hazel June 21 (Thursday)-July 19 0.5 semester credit 12:00 pm - 2:30 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays Cost: $325 (Independent work required) In the general physical education course, students will be exposed to various activities focusing on lifetime physical fitness. These activities include but are not limited to tennis, jogging, resistance training, golf, Frisbee golf, etc. Students will participate in a blended class combining teacher directed lessons and independent learning. Bridge to Calculus Instructor: Larry Swanson Open to students who have June 25-July 12 (Monday-Thursday) completed Honors Algebra II (No class July 4-5) Cost: $225 9:00 am - 11:30 am Students will revisit the Pre-Calculus topics of polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions. In addition, analytic trigonometry including proofs and the unit circle will be stressed. The goal of the class is to help you feel ready to jump right into AP Calculus AB in September. La Salle Prep: Camp College Instructor: Andrea Flores Open to incoming 12th graders June 25-June 29 (Monday-Friday) Cost: $225 9:00 am - 12:00 pm June 25-28 9:00 am - 4:00 pm June 29 Get a valuable head start on the college application process! Elementary Engineering: Hands-on Science & Engineering Instructor: Scott Ziglinkski & Cian Ziglinksi Open to incoming 3rd-7th graders Cost: $150 June 25 - June 28 (Monday-Thursday) 9:00 am - 12:00 pm Can you design and build a seven track roller-coaster with two loops and a hill? How about a gocart pushed by the force of air? Or an air-powered boat? These are just three of the engineering challenges students will have to work through in this four day summer camp. Be prepared to be creative and to have fun! Join world-renowned educators Scott Ziglinski and Edwina Deegan as they engage young learners to think creatively and develop high level thinking and innovative problem-solving skills.
