Availability and Use of E-Resources by Users of CKSVIM Library, Vadodara: A Study Kevalkumar M. Patel Ph. D. Scholar & Librarian C. K. Supervisor Rai University Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India Abstract The present study focuses on availability and use of e-resources by users of C. K. Shah Vijapurwala Institute of Management (CKSVIM) Library, Vadodara. This study main objective are to identify the awareness of e-resources, know the users internet skills, purpose of use, identify satisfaction level of availability of e-resources, use of different e- resources, satisfactory level of using e-resources, factors influenced, impact of e-resources, different problem faced in the access of e-resource, preferred file format for e-resources and users suggestions to improve usages of e-resources. Survey method was used to carry out this research. A well- structured questionnaire was used to collect the primary data from the respondents; total 267 questionnaires were distributed to the sample population and received back 235 filled in questionnaires. The researcher took 235 questionnaires for analysis using simple percentage techniques. Realizing the importance of the e-resources most of the Universities and Colleges in India liberally investing to provide access to these resources to support learning, teaching and research. A well traditional library is important for any educational institution and ICT is one of the important parts of it in this digital world. People use computers, notebook, and smart mobile to access the information for their academic as well as non-academic purposes (Sinha et al 2013). Due to information explosion people are moving towards the online resources or e-resources to gather their relevant information for different purposes (Swaminathan et al 2017). The e-resources, like CD-ROM database, online journals, online books, OPACs and the internet are gradually replacing the significance and practice of print media. It is vital that one should be well-known with the use of e-resources for their swift and helpful usage for endorsement of intellectual excellence and research. Profile of CKSVIM and CKSVIM Library: This management institute was established in 2009. CKSVIM offers Global MBA (Master in Business Administration) two-year full time 675

Post-Graduate Degree Program approved by AICTE, MHRD Government of India and affiliated to Gujarat Technological University (GTU), Ahmedabad. CKSVIM Library was established along with the establishment of the CKSVIM. The aim of the CKSVIM Library is to support teaching, learning and research in institute. CKSVIM library is fully automated. The library has more than 9300 volumes of the Books with 1650 titles. The library subscribes 60 national & international journals and magazine, also library subscribes 8 daily newspapers. Library has good collection of Electronic or Digital Resources in the form of 975 subject books CDs & DVDs, 2500 e-books, DELNET e-database, 325 books PPT s, 325 company s annual reports, 1500 e-research articles, 250 cases, 1250 past students SIP/CP/GCSR e-projects, Last 8 years internal & external examination papers in electronic format and e-journals as per DELNET. CKSVIM library provides different types of manual and ICT based library services to all the MBA Students and Staff members. CKSVIM library regularly purchases good number of books, subscribes to a number of printed and electronic online journals, and other study materials to cater to the needs of the students, faculty members, research scholars and other staff members of this CKSVIM. The study focuses on the digital literacy skills and competencies among the research scholars and PG students of deemed university libraries in Bangalore. The study aims to identify the awareness of e-resources, their usage, purpose of use, factors influenced, impact of e-resources and barriers faced in the access of e-resources. Questionnaire was used to collect the data from the respondents; total 150 questionnaires were distributed to the sample population and received back 130 filled in questionnaires. The researcher took 130 questionnaires for analysis using simple percentage techniques. Das, Saumen (2017). Present study has undertaken with a vision to be acquainted with the status of e-resource use pattern of undergraduate students of Karimganj District, Assam. The respondents of the present study are mainly drawn from the six government aided colleges of the Karimganj district. To collect data, survey method was used by the investigator. 60 Questionnaire were distributed to each college to collect the data. For the data analysis, only percentage techniques adopted. Besides this, some of the suggestions and recommendations were also discussed to increase the use of e-resources by the undergraduate students of that district. 676

Patel, Kevalkumar and Darbar, Mahesh (2016). Purpose of present study is to examine the MBA students of CKSVIM Library use the internet services for their learning, study and research activities. Use of internet is increasing day by day as it is time saving, more informative and less expensive. The present study demonstrates and elaborates the various aspects use of internet; method of learning internet use, frequency of using internet, weekly time spent on internet, place of internet use, purposes for internet use, ways to browsing resources from internet, preference of using search engines, language prefer in internet, problem faced in search internet, advantages of internet resources v/s traditional resources and user satisfaction with internet. Rajanbabu and N. Murugesapandian (2017). Study discusses on Information access pattern in digital environment among faculty member in different types of universities in Chennai. Among faculty members 593 questionnaires were distributed but 504 were returned duly filled in as a sample. Majority of the users are not aware about the information resources and services provided by the information centres. These types of study is very much needed to understand the electronic information needs of the faculty members, because the faculties are the motivating factor in building the young India and the study make users aware about what the categories of digital information resources and services offered by the universities. The purpose of the study is to throw light on those resources and services provided by the selected universities and information seeking behaviour of faculty members. Objectives of the Study The main objective of the present study is to analyze the availability and use of e-resources by the users of C. K. Shah Vijapurwala Institute of Management (CKSVIM) Library, Vadodara. The other major objectives of the present study are: To know the awareness of e-resources among the users of CKSVIM library. To know the Internet skills of the respondents. To identify the purpose of using electronic resources. 677

To identify satisfaction level of availability of e-resources in the CKSVIM library. To know the use of different e- resources among the respondents. To know the satisfactory level of using e-resources. To find out the factors that influences them to use e-resources. To identify the impact of electronic resources on their learning, teaching and research activities. To know the problems faced by the respondents while accessing e-resources. To study the feedback and suggestions of the CKSVIM library users. Scope of the Study This study is an attempt to ascertain the availability and Use of E-Resources by the users of CKSVIM Library, Vadodara. Research Methodology In the present study, survey research method was adopted to examine the availability and Use of E-Resources by the users of CKSVIM Library. The structured questionnaire was designed for data collection and distributed 267 questionnaires to the all CKSVIM library users (Students, Faculties and Ph. D. Scholar) and 235 filled-questionnaires were received back. Structure of the Questionnaire The questionnaire was self-explanatory, consisting 20 plus questions along with instructions. The options were provided to answer the questions. The researcher selected precise, clear and appropriate questions. It is comprised simple choice questions, multiple choice questions were arranged in sequence i.e. frequency of visiting the CKSVIM library, internet skills, awareness of CKSVIM library e-resources, availability of e-resources in CKSVIM library, purpose of using e-resources, use of different types of e-resources, frequency of use of e- resources, usefulness of e-resources, methods of learning e-resources skills, factors that influence to use e-resources, impact of e-resources and problems faced in using e-resources. Limitation of the study 678 The study is limited to only for only users (Students, Faculties and Ph. D. Scholar) of CKSVIM Library, Vadodara.

Data Collection Present study was done with the help of survey method. The primary data was mainly collected through the questionnaire. The researchers have collected information of individual user regarding the availability and use of e-resources of CKSVIM library. Analysis and Interpretation of Data The total questionnaires distributed is 267 out of which 235 (88.01%) were received back from the CKSVIM library users. The data consisted of quantitative variables and qualitative variable. The analysis of data, measurement and scaling, consisted of performing descriptive and inferential statistical procedures using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) and MS Office Excel. Scholar of CKSVIM library. Out of 267 questionnaires were distributed and 235 questionnaires were responded properly. Among the overall 235 respondents, 206 respondents (87.66%) are Students, 20 respondents (8.51%) are Faculties and remaining 9 respondents (3.83%) are Ph. D. Scholar. This indicates that majority of the respondents are students. Table-3: Gender Wise Analysis Attempts were made to analyze data by Gender wise of the respondents which are presented in this table.

Among the overall 235 respondents, 102 respondents (43.40%) are male whereas 133 respondents (56.60%) are female. It is also evident for the table that 25.10% (59) respondents visiting the library 2-3 times in a week, 24.69% (58) of the respondents visiting the library every day, remaining respondents 20% (47) are occasionally visiting the library. Table-7 reveals that 228 (97.02%) respondents are agreed with availability of e-syllabus, followed by 227 (96.40%) are agreed with availability of internet /Wi-Fi facility and e-questions papers, 217 (92.34%) are agreed with availability of subjects books PPT s, 209 (88.94%) are agreed with availability of e-employment news, 205 (87.23%) are agreed with availability of e-thesis & projects, 200 (85.11%) are agreed with availability of e-books, 190 (80.85%) are agreed with availability of e-journals & magazines, 176 (74.89%) are agreed with availability of subjects CDs/DVDS, 135 (57.45%) are agreed with availability of e-database, 111 (47.23%) are agreed with availability of e-newspapers and only 103 (43.83%) respondents are agreed with availability of e-videos in the CKSVIM library. 681

It is observes from the above table that 95.59% (227) of respondents are using to prepare presentations for examinations, 95.74% (225) for updated knowledge in my interested area, 94.46% (222) for career development, 91.48% (215) to prepare subject assignment or notes, 90.63% (213) For research purpose (thesis / projects work), 88.08% (207) to examination purpose, 86.38% (203) for getting current information, 85.10% (200) for teaching, learning purpose & Other activities and 79.54 (187) are using e-resources for writing and publishing research paper or articles or books. Recruit the new library staff 189 80.42 Note: Multiple answers were permitted, N=235 Table-18 show that 203 (86.38%) respondents suggested to start institute internet or Wi-Fi facility/service in the students mobile, 196 (83.40%) respondents suggested to increase the more computer systems in CKSVIM library, 189 (80.42%) respondents suggested to develop good infrastructure to use of e-resources and recruit the new library staff, 135 (57.45%) respondents suggested to arrange training to search e-resources and 100 (42.55%) respondents suggested to start new SDI/CAS services. Finding and Suggestions Out of 267 questionnaires were distributed and 235 (88.01%) questionnaires were responded properly. Out of 235 respondents, 102 respondents (43.40%) are male whereas 133 respondents (56.60%) are female. This indicates that majority of the respondents are female. The overall 235 respondents, 206 respondents (87.66%) are students, 20 respondents (8.51%) are faculties and remaining 9 respondents (3.83%) are Ph. D. scholar. A high percentage of respondents 71 (30.21%) are visiting the library once in week. 128 (54.47%) are of the opinion that they are expert in internet skills. 177 (75.32%) respondents are aware of CKSVIM library e-resources Most of respondents are agreed with availability of e-resources in CKSVIM library, like a Internet /Wi-Fi Facility, e-books, e-journals & magazines, e-questions papers, CDs/DVDS, subjects books PPT s, e- syllabus, e-employment news, e-thesis & projects and e-database. Most of library users are being used e-resources for the purpose of to prepare presentations for examinations, for career development, for writing and publishing research paper or articles or books, For research purpose (thesis/projects work), to examination purpose, for getting current information, for teaching, learning purpose & other activities and to prepare subject assignment or notes. Internet facility and e-books is the type of e-resources accessed/used by maximum 235 (100%) and 189 (80.42%) number of respondents. Out of 235 respondents 83 (35.32%) of the respondents use e-resources daily. Maximum of the respondents 151 (64.26%) states that e-resources are highly useful. 687

Conclusion Nowadays, Electronic resources are important collection of any academic libraries especially in management institute libraries environment of ICT or digital era. The main objective of the present study is to analyze the availability and use of e-resources by the users of C. K. Shah Vijapurwala Institute of Management (CKSVIM) Library, Vadodara. This study reveals the awareness of e-resources among the users, purpose of using e-resources, satisfaction level of availability of e-resources, use which types of different e- resources, satisfactory level of using e-resources and problems faced by the CKSVIM library users while accessing e- resources. This study helps the library staff in planning and development e-resources to provide modern services to their users of libraries.
