PARKES CHRISTIAN SCHOOL A Ministry of the Parkes Community Baptist Church We live in a world where we are bombarded with information. I have heard it said that we receive more information in one year then someone in the 1950s received in their lifetime. What we often lack is the time to reflect on the information that we have been hit with. I will admit that I have missed appointments and meetings because I have not taken the time to really digest and understand a simple message. Students can sometimes feel the same way. They get a lot of information at school, but they also need time to reflect or think about what they have learnt. This is the one characteristic that sets a good student apart from the rest. An organisation called The Learning Curve have compiled a bit of a checklist for students to help them with reflection, revision and study: 243 Back Trundle Road (PO Box 420) PARKES NSW 2870 Telephone: (02) 6862 4164 Facsimile: (02) 6862 3744 Organisation Effectiveness am I planning well and organised? am I prepared and in the "learning zone"? am I sticking to my Home Study Timetable? am I building my lifelong learning habits? am I giving my learning my best shot? am I completing all set learning on time? At Parkes Christian School we want our students to be capable users of information with the ability to evaluate what information is useful and good and what information is not useful and even potentially harmful.
