NOTE: California English School (CES) provides a private Intensive English Program at Palomar College. CES is not the same as Palomar College ESL program, which requires a TOEFL score of 470 or higher. Acceptance to CES does not result in admittance to Palomar College. SEVIS I-20 (STUDENT VISA) 3 In order to stay in the United States as a full time student, you must have a student visa (F-1). Please send us the following documents so that we can issue the SEVIS I-20, which you will take or mail to the American Embassy in your country to obtain an F-1 visa. 1. Application form - completely filled out Part 7 Signature on page 5 must be complete by the enrolling student. The signature in this section must match the signature on your passport. 2. Application fee, U.S. $150.00 - non-refundable 3. A copy of the applicant s passport the page(s) with your photograph & signature 4. Financial Guarantee Bank Statement (original, in English with US$) The name of the account holder must be the same as the name of the person responsible for the tuition and living expenses of the student while in the United States. The statement must show the amount of U.S. $7,750.00 or more and must have been issued within 6 months. This supporting document should be regular bank account. Acceptance of saving plans such as Mutual Fund, IRA are very limited. 5. Three passport size photographs Processing period for the SEVIS I-20 is approximately two weeks. In some cases, advanced tuition payments are required.
4 MEDICAL INSURANCE (VERY IMPORTANT!!) Students applying for CES are required to be covered by medical insurance policy. This is to protect the students in case of an emergency in a country with high medical expense. The insurance proof must be presented to the CES office on/before student s first day. A student with no insurance proof cannot participate in CES classes until s/he obtains a proof. During this time, the student is marked absent, which significantly affects his/her attendance rate. Medical Insurance Requirements: 1. Medical benefits of at least $50,000 USD per accident or illness 2. A deductible not to exceed $500 per accident or illness 3. Claim office in the USA 4. Expenses associated with medical evacuation of the student to his/her country in the amount of $10,000 5. Repatriation of remains in the amount of $7,500 6. The coverage for the period up to sixty days after the end of the semester.
