2nd ember 2018 - Issue 21 PRINCIPAL S MESSAGE Official Opening of New Building at FHPS It was my pleasure to host a small contingency of special guests for our official opening of our new school building last week. Representatives from the Education Department school building authority, our local state member, Mr Paul Edbrooke, architects and construction company staff, including our School Council president, Mr Rob Colcott were in attendance for a brief school tour followed by a special assembly to acknowledge the contribution of all in delivering a new state of the art building which includes office / administration, library, kitchen and teaching spaces. We are indebted to all involved for the upgrade in our school grounds and facilities, which has been well received by the whole school community. Our school is looking fantastic as a result of this capital works project with both staff and students loving our new facilities and playground as a result. Melbourne Cup Holiday On Monday 5 ember, we anticipate many families will utilise the public holiday to take an extended 4 day break from school, as has been the trend in previous years. We anticipate that on Monday 5 ember, many classes will be affected by student absences and therefore, we will combine students across the school to provide a different educational program for those children who attend. I wish all families a wonderful break over the weekend period. Tues 6th Wed 7th Fri 9th Tues 13th Fri 16th Tues 20th Wed 21st- Sat 24th IMPORTANT DATES MELBOURNE CUP PUBLIC HOLIDAY School of Rock (Girls Choir) Digitech Conference (selected 5/6 s) Prep Transition Session 1 SCHOOL FAIR 2-7pm Prep Transition Session 2 RACV HPV (selected 5/6 s) School Fete Fundraising Goals Our school fete is only 2 weeks away with students and staff starting to get excited about the many stalls and rides available throughout the afternoon. Our Friends of Heights Team and parent helpers have been amazing in their support by attending meetings, setting up the silent auction, sorting donations and prizes and generating a lot of enthusiasm across the community. We all need to get on board and put in a super effort in the next few weeks to have great items to sell on our stalls and to ensure maximum turnout on the day. Everyone who donates and attends will be supporting FHPS to have a most successful fete. This year we are hoping our fundraising efforts will enable a new playground to be built in place of the small red and yellow one. We will soon be asking our students for their views on what designs and equipment they would like to have in a new playground. So please get behind the fete to bring this project to reality for the start of 2019. Thank you to all who have been assisting with donations, regular communication, flyer drops, and for encouraging attendance of family and friends. Every help on the day is sincerely appreciated. Please see the teachers if you can spare 1 hour to assist on a stall. Thank You. Have a lovely weekend. Kind Regards, Mrs Clark Principal Frankston Heights Primary School

STUDENT & VISITOR SIGN IN & OUT PROCESS As previously advised, we have updated our process for students signing in and out of school. We now have an ipad located in the office which parents will need to use to sign students in and out of school as required. If you child is late for school they MUST be accompanied by an adult to sign them in. Students who arrive at school without a parent to sign them in will be marked as an unexplained lateness. A reminder all visitors attending the school MUST have a Working With Children s Check. You must carry this on you and sign in using your card number each time you attend the school as a visitor. We thank you for your co-operation in this system. 2019 SCHOOL UNIFORM ORDERS PENINSULA UNIFORMS AND EMBROIDERY INFORMATION Frankston Heights Primary School Uniform Shop will be moving to Peninsula Uniforms and Embroidery on the corner of Titan Drive and Aster Avenue, Carrum Downs.
