2006, Identity Theft Training for Law Enforcement. Hosted the PCCD Identity Theft for Law Enforcement training seminar on the Ft. Washington Campus on January 31, 2006. 2005 to 2007, Personal Safety of Staff and the Public in Magisterial District Courts Training. 2004, Statewide Crime Prevention Conference. Hosted the 2004 Statewide Crime Prevention Conference sponsored by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD). The conference, which was attended by over two hundred twenty-five participants, was held at the Holiday Inn-Harrisburg/Hershey in Grantville, PA from December 16-17. Hosted the 2003 Statewide Crime Prevention Conference sponsored by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD). The conference, which was attended by over two hundred twentyfive participants, was held at the Hilton-Valley Forge in King of Prussia, PA from December 11-13. Drawing participants from various law enforcement and public safety agencies throughout the Commonwealth, the conference offered 15 workshops, 17 exhibitors, and 6 distinguished speakers covering a broad range of crime prevention topics. Funded by the Pennsylvania Deputy Sheriffs Training Board, the project involved updating the 760 hour basic training curriculum as well as development of such distance learning programs as Defensive Driving Techniques, Legal Updates, Health and Wellness, Criminal Law Review, and Advanced Physical and Judicial Security. 2003, Legislative Security Officers of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Created a basic training program for the Legislative Security Officers of the The project included a job task/training needs analysis, development of the curriculum, and delivery of the training. 2001 to 2002, County Probation and Parole Officers Advanced Firearm Training. Funded by the Pennsylvania County Probation and Parole Officers Firearm Training Commission, this program provided required advanced firearms training to all Pennsylvania county probation and parole officers who carry firearms. Approximately 300 hundred officers attended training each year. 1999 to 2003, Deputy Sheriffs Curriculum Development Project. Funded by the Pennsylvania Deputy Sheriffs Training Board the project involved the development of a new 760 hour basic training program for all new Deputy Sheriffs in Pennsylvania, a waiver program for experienced law enforcement personnel new to this occupation, and a variety of continuing education
courses including traditional classroom based instruction as well as self-directed, computer based instruction, and distance learning programs. 2001, Philadelphia Probation Department Training Program. Provided Crisis Intervention instruction to Philadelphia Probation Officers of the Family Court Division of the Philadelphia Court of Common Please during a 1-day training program. 2000, Philadelphia Warrant Officers Training Program. Provided PA Crimes Code, Rule of Criminal Procedure, Search and Seizure, Use of Force, Mechanics of Arrest, Crisis Intervention, O.C. Spray, and Firearms instruction to Philadelphia Warrant Officers of the First Judicial District of the Philadelphia Court of Common Please during a 6-day training program. 1975 to Present, Municipal Police Basic Training Program. Provides basic police academy instruction to prospective municipal police personnel. Program meets each year from May to August and additional classes are taught under contract to specific agencies as requested. Also conducts 2-day in-service training programs enrolling 1500 municipal and college police personnel. These programs are certified by the Pennsylvania Municipal Police Education and Training Commission, Hershey, Pennsylvania. 1996 to Present, Pennsylvania Constables Training Program, Southeastern Region. Responsible for the provision of basic and yearly continuing education training to all constables in the eight county region, estimated to number approximately 400. Implementation of a waiver examination program, an eighty-hour basic training program, and a forty-hour per year continuing education program including basic firearms training and re-qualification. 1987 to Present, Pennsylvania Deputy Sheriffs' Continuing Education Program. Responsible for the provision of continuing education instruction to all 1800 deputy sheriffs employed in Pennsylvania including selection and supervision of faculty, development of lesson content, and program evaluation. Training is provided in ten different venues around the state including Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Scranton, Erie and Harrisburg. Instruction has included topics such as ethics, crowd control, physical security, report writing, behavior management, infectious diseases, legal updates, various law enforcement skills, civil process, and management seminars for supervisors. The topic of instruction for the 2001-2003 training cycle is "People with Special Needs: A Law Enforcement Response." 1993 to 1996, Training Development Project, Youth Study Center, Department of Human Services, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. A continuing project to conduct a job task analysis, create a training agenda and develop internal training capacity for the city s juvenile detention facility. 1995, Seminar series on crime and criminal justice for senior citizens of the Jewish Community Center of Southern New Jersey, Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Seven workshops on various topics as part of the agency's continuing education program for senior citizens. 1993 to 1995, Philadelphia Fairmont Park Ranger Corps. Provided three days instruction to twenty five new park rangers on Behavior Management and Crisis Intervention techniques. 1994, Orientation Training, Philadelphia Police Advisory Committee. Three day program of instruction for newly appointed members of civilian review board. 1992 to 1993, Crime Prevention Project. A public safety component of a grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education entitled, Urban
Community Service Program, Rebuilding Neighborhoods in A program to develop community systems in education, physical environment planning and rehabilitation, and recreation, as well as public safety. In the public safety portion, the project implemented a police mini-station, organizing town meetings, conducted crime/arrest/victim analysis, created a community advisory board, and provided residents and business crime prevention training. 1992, for PhilaPride, Inc. Provided conflict management and customer service instruction for 200 employees of the Philadelphia Parking Authority in preparation for the opening of the new Philadelphia Convention Center and in conjunction with other initiatives to improve the appearance and atmosphere in the Center City area. 1991 to 1992, Philadelphia Special Services District. Participated in the development of curriculum and the training of two classes of new employees to serve as special, non-law enforcement patrol officers in Center City Philadelphia providing services to residents, the business community, and visitors to the city. 1990 to 1991, Philadelphia Streets Department. Development of curriculum and training of Sanitation Enforcement Officers. 1987, Pennsylvania Municipal Police Education and Training Curriculum Development Project. A grant funded by the Commonwealth to write the state mandated basic training program for the state s 22,000 municipal police. Adopted as the basic statewide police training standard in Pennsylvania, September, 1988 and used until it was revised in 2000. 1986, Pennsylvania Deputy Sheriffs' Continuing Education Curriculum Development Project. A grant from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, the state criminal justice coordinating commission, for the development of seventy hours of in-service training curricula implemented as the state mandated continuing education for all 1800 deputy sheriffs in the Commonwealth. Adopted as a statewide training standard in 1986. 1985, Pennsylvania Deputy Sheriffs' Basic Training Curriculum Development Project. A grant from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency and the Deputy Sheriffs' Education and Training Board for the development of the 160 hour minimum mandatory basic training curriculum for deputy sheriffs in Pennsylvania. Adopted as the state training standard, 1986 and used until Temple University revised the program in 2001.
