Q. How do I know if the CSU will accept a particular course from my school? A. We refer to your school s A- G list on the UC Doorways page. If it s on the list, it s consider college preparatory and we will accept. https://hs- articulation.ucop.edu/agcourselist

UC vs. CSU Matrix A- G Comparison http://www.calstate.edu/sas/onestopkiosk/documents/ csu- uc- a- gcomparisonmatrix.pdf

TEST SCORES The CSU accepts the SAT and ACT. CSU does not look at writing portion of SAT or ACT If a student submits multiple score reports the highest score earned in each single sub score of the examination is used. CSU expects for each student to have SAT/ACT completed by Dec of their senior year; impacted campuses by October/ November CSU Mentor Code: 3594 Example: 1st time: 400 M + 500 CR= 900 2nd time: 500 M + 400 CR= 900 CSU total = 500 M + 500 CR= 1000

Initial Admission Decision GPA/Honors Points 10 th & 11th grades* 8 th or 9 th grade courses count, not grades 12 th grade is used to confirm initial provisional admission (Did the student pass everything they said they would?) Ds and Fs Repeated courses (Grade replaced if course is exactly the same) Honors and AP (p. 13 of Admission Handbook) 11th and 12th grade 10 th grade (max 2 courses; 11 th or 12 th grade content; AP or IB) 8 points max. total * Cal Poly SLO calculates a 2 nd GPA from 9 th, 10 th, & 11 th grade as part of their admission process

Eligibility Index SAT (GPA x 800) + SAT Reasoning total = CSU Minimum: 2900 ACT (200 x GPA) + (10 x ACT total) = CSU Minimum: 694

What is Impaction? Impaction occurs when more qualified applicants apply for a campus or program during the initial application period than can be accommodated Impacted campus Impacted major

Non- Impacted Campuses (Uses Minimum CSU Eligibility) Bakersfield Channel Islands Dominguez Hills East Bay Maritime Academy Stanislaus

Impacted for Freshman Admissions Chico Fresno Humboldt Los Angeles Monterey Bay Northridge Pomona Sacramento San Bernardino San Francisco San Marcos Sonoma

IMPACTED IN ALL PROGRAMS (By major and at freshmen level) Fullerton Long Beach San Diego San Jose San Luis Obispo

Common Questions CSU Reps Receive

Q. What s the minimum eligibility index that <<insert name of CSU campus>> will take for Fall 2016, 2017, etc.? A. Eligibility Indexes are based off of the applicant pool that applies. CSU campuses cannot tell you in advance as they need to look at their applicant pool to determine the cut off score. Q. What should I advise my student then? A. Strive to be as competitive as possible, take A- G subjects, earning grades of C or better. Don t just apply to impacted campuses.
