Phone: 9435134476 E-mail: sadanath@rocketmail.com Some snapshots of Search & Rescue training Prepared by Sadananda Nath NSS Programme Officer Tinsukia Commerce College Organization NSS Unit Entrepreneurship Development Programme Date: 04/06/2015 A 5 days Entrepreneurship Development Programme was conducted in collaboration with ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu in pursuance of Rajiv Gandhi National Level Youth Entrepreneurship Development Program under the initiatives Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development from 29/06/2015 to 04/07/2015. A total of 36 students of different classes of undergraduate courses had participated in the programme. The NSS Programme Officer Mr. S. Nath had coordinated and conducted the whole programme, where Dr. B. K. Sen the principal of Tinsukia Commerce College and Mr. Ranjan Kalita had also taken some sessions to encourage the participants. As per the requirement of the programme a total of 8 participants have submitted their business plans for the national level competitions which was sent to the ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu. No, doubt not a single business plan could turn up as winner of the said competition, but it is encouraging that, our students have tried their best to join a national level competition with only 5 days preparation and inspiration. All the participants are awarded a national level certificate jointly by the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development and ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu. For the session 2015 2016 Tinsukia Commerce College NSS Unit. 2. Road safety Programme Date: 10/01/2016 Road safety Programme was a day long programme observed on 10/01/2016 at Na Pukhuri bus stand organised by the district transport office, Tinsukia in collaboration with the Tinsukia Traffic police, Bus owners Association and many related associations. A total of 32 NSS volunteers, two teachers and one library staff had taken part in the meeting and the rally. The programme ended with distribution of packet tiffin to all the participants at the end of the rally. Some snapshots are presented bellow. TEMEX Programme: Date: 22/01/2016 Tinsukia Emergency Management Exercise is a programme organised by District Digester Management Authority (DDMA), Tinsukia with technical support from Assam State Digester Management Authority (ASDMA) involving all stakeholders including schools and colleges. It is a 5 days long programme from 18 22 January 2016. Tinsukia Commerce College NSS unit has contributed a lot for the success of the programme. Particularly DDMA has appointed the NSS Programme Officer as the nodal officer for organising Search and Rescue Operations training and Table Top Exercise as per the schedule. A total of 35 NSS volunteers, three teachers and the principal i/c have participated in different events of the programme. On 22 nd January there was a mock drill of emergency exercise in three different places of Tinsukia Town and our volunteers have participated as victims of the emergency exercise. 4. Health Checkup Camp Date. 02/03/2016 A free health checkup camp is organised for the people with disability at Tinsukia Puja Mandir, on 2 nd. March 2016. There are three parties in list of organiser s of the event there are Snehalaya Tinsukia, NSS Unit, Tinsukia Commerce College ; and Kalyankami Sangstha, Thinsukia. The programme is directly sponsored by Oil India Limited Duliajan, Hospital and IMA, Duliajan Branch. A total of 98 people have checked up health and medicines distributed to them at no cost. The inauguration programme has chaired by S Nath. NSS programme officer, Tinsukia Commerce College, where the principal, Tinsukia Commerce College has participated in the programme as guest of honour. The programme is graced by the dignitaries like Join Director of Health, Tinsukia; Social welfare Officer, Tinsukia; the Chief Medical Officer, IOCL Hospital Duliajan, the president red cross society, Tinsukia etc. A total of 13 NSS volunteer have worked best for the success of the programme. The programme ended with the rich lunch provided by NSS Unit, Tinsukia Commerce College. Blood Donation Camp Date: 03/03/2016 A blood donation camp is organised in College Campus among the student and teachers of Tinsukia Commerce College on 03 03 2016 in collaboration with Blood Bank, GNB Civil Hospital, Tinsukia. A total of 37 NSS volunteers, teachers and other students of the college have donated blood to the Blood bank. It is a daylong programme, which is conducted jointly by the NSS Volunteers and the Blood bank team headed by Dr. Mridul Gogoi. The donors are awarded with a Blood Donation Certificate along with blood grouping, jointly by Tinsukia Commerce College NSS Unit and Blood Bank, GNB Civil Hospital, Tinsukia. A health status report for tested communicable diseases has been given for all the blood donors. 6. 5 Days Special Camp Dated: 30/03/2016
A 5 days annual special camp is organised to clean the Tinsukia Commerce College campus from 25 th to 29 th march 2016. Within 5 days the whole college campus has been clean by the NSS volunteers of our unit. A total of 35 volunteers have attended regularly enjoyed the spirit of social and team work. Here our moto was to teach the volunteers the spirit of team works the, value of social work, environment cleanliness, role of social forestry/ afforestation and greenery etc. The principal i/c Dr. P.S. Das and some senior teachers have encouraged the entire team by joining with us in different works. But we fail to achieve plantation in the college campus as we targeted due to unavailability of plant saplings at this time in the social forestry nurseries nearby. Some snapshots of Blood Donation Camp National Blood Donation Day Celebration National Blood Donation Day was observed at TINSUKIA COMMERCE COLLEGE on 1 ST October 2013. at 10.00 am by NSS and Red ribbon Club of Tinsukia Commerce College. The Principal, The Vice Principal who is also the Programme Officer of RRC, all the teachers and all the students of the college assembled in the Auditorium Hall of the college. Principal of the College, Dr. B.K Sen presided over the programme. The Vice Principal Dr. P.S. Das who is also the Programme Officer of RRC delineated the purpose of the day s programme. Some of the teachers engaged them in registering the new club members. Dr. P.S Das, delivered a lecture about the topic of the day BLOOD DONATION BASIC CONCEPTS AND ITS SAFETY. The lecture was followed by an interactive session which was very lively and fruitful. Printed leaflets in Assamese language containing detail information about HIV/AIDS were distributed among all the students and teachers present in the hall. The general opinion of the students, teachers and the Principal was that the topic adopted on the day was befitting, informative, educative and inspiring one. Disaster Management Program A disaster management programme was organized on 21 st March 2014 inviting experts viz. Mr. Hemonto Dibruwal, Mr. Nabadip Gogoi, Mr. Suresh Deka & Mr. Bhupan Hazarika of District Disaster Management Unit, Tinsukia. The program was conducted in two phases : Indoor and Outdoor. Indoor program included (i) Awareness talks delivered by the expert, Principal and few learned teachers. (ii) Practical demonstration of triangular bandage. Outdoor program included field training to the stakeholder about (a) One man human touch method (b) two men human touch method (c) The ways to help a drowning person to regain consciousness (d) Extending fire relief (e) Preparation of stretcher (f) Using bed sheets and blanket during rescue operation. The NSS Program officer Dr. H.L. Prasad and librarian Mr. S.N. Nath shared their views on the objectives and functions of NSS and the inaugural speech was delivered by the Principal Dr. B.K. Sen. The Program was concluded by the vote of thanks extended by Mr. Sudipta Chakraborty.
Another programme organised by the same group on 02/04/2014 in Arahuti Gaon of Guijan a flood affected area by the side of Dibru Chaikhuwa National Park. Here the them of demonstration was how to manage life and property during high flood situation. How to get food, water and salter the affected people during flood. About 100 villagers and students were present in the programme. The programme ended with vote of thanks by the village headman and a lunch. Few snaps of the demonstrations are here of these memorable days. Disaster management programmes help our students and us to enhance our knowledge to combat disaster related problems. The programme started with the welcome speech by Dr. P. S. Das, Vice Principal and formal introduction of our guest Mr. Kulesh Talukdar, District Media Expert and Mr. Amulya Gohain, District Programme Manager. Dr. P. S. Das, Dr. H. L. Prasad and our guest were felicitated by the NSS Voluntiers, namely Dona Paul, Mamta Singh, Ms. Madhumita Sen. The programme followed with an effective discussion on health problems. Talukdar focused on Japanese Encephalities, its Symptoms and precautions along with Dungue, Malaria and addiction problems. The programme was continued by Mr. Amulya Gohain. He gave information about NPCB (National Programme for Control of Blindness). He provided us the concept of problems related to eyes which includes Reflective Error Blindness, Temporary Blindness, Cataract and Eye surgery problems. Blindness causes due to sunlight, mal nutrition, poor diet, dust particles etc. He guided us about the measures to be taken to avoid eye problems followed by an interactive session with the experts. It is expected that the programme must be fruitful for the participants. Date : 30 th March, 2014 Time : 10.30 a. m. Venue : Moutghat Labour Club, Itakhooli T. E., Tinsukia. In continuation of the health camp organised on 29 th March, 2014 another venue i.e. at Moutghat Labour Club with the objective of providing free Medical Check up for all the people of that area is selected. The Medical team including Dr. Nitoo Baruah, Dr. Pranjal Protim Borah, Sister Rumi Chetia, Mrs. Kalpana Jaishy, Pharmasist Mardhurjya Dutta, Radiographar Mr. Romananda Hatiboruah assisted the programme along with NSS Officer Incharge Dr. H. L. Prasad and assistant Mr. Uttam Das Teli monitored the programme. Principal Dr. B. K. Sen and Vice Principal Dr. P. S. Das visited the camp and met the medical staffs and patients. Dona Paul, Mamta Singh, Debojit Dey, Bikram Dey, Sanjay Rizal, Debendra Nath Teli, Arindam Sharma and Nirupam Kar, students of Tinsukia Commerce College, volunteered towards achieving the following objectives. Total 188 nos. patients including children were registered. The Doctors of the team had checked up the registered patients and distributed free medicines provided by National Health Mission. The NSS volunteers are served with light Refreshments for their assistance for the programme. It was the effort of the members and service of Doctors that people had access to proper medical treatment despite of their poor economic conditions. It was everybody s co operation to make this venture a fruitful one.
LUNCH WITH DIFFERENTLY ABLE CHILDREN OF SNEHALAYA TINSUKIA Organized by Tinsukia Commerce College, NSS Unit Date : 5 th June, 2014 Time : 10.30 a. m. onward, Venue : Tinsukia Commerce College, Tinsukia. Snehalaya, Tinsukia is an NGO working for education, medical and rehabilitation of the differently abled children of Tinsukia which was established by a group of kind hearted people. There was a time when disability was considered as the consequences of sin in earlier birth. Time has changed now people want to explore the ability of the children, rather keeping aside by neglecting them Every child has the right to grow and live in comfort. Snehalaya, Tinsukia has been working with the disable children to teach them how to live with dignity. Tinsukia Commerce College is fortunate enough to get associated with such a prestigious NGO. Even, a number of employees of the college are life member of the organisation and holding some major post like President, working president etc.. As a token of love and affection to the differently abled children of Snehalaya Tinsukia and their social inclusion, the NSS wing of Tinsukia Commerce College has organised a feast on 5 th June 2014. More than forty children along with their parents and teachers of Snehalaya attended the lunch.
A small programme was also organized for them where the children, Principal and Vice Principal of Tinsukia Commerce College and the teaching and non teaching staffs also participated. The programme was followed by the lunch at 02.30 p. m. We witnessed a beautiful time with the children who only wish for a little more love. The afternoon was beautiful as they giggle, played, and danced with open heart. We can always provide them with little more of everything to make them happy, spend time with them and make them feel that they are also a part of our society. A small video clip was shown of Nick Vujicic a differently abled person who does not have hands and legs but how happily he could able to enjoy and live his life, for encouragement of the parents and the children of Snehalaya. Celebration of World ENVIRONMENT DAY Organized by NCC & NSS Units of Tinsukia Commerce College Date : 5 th June, 2014. Venue : Tinsukia Commerce College, Due to rapid industrialization and urbanisation the natural environment of many country is getting imbalance leading to environmental degradation. United Nations general Assembly had established World Environment Day on the starting day of United Nations conference on Human Environment in 1972 at Stockholm and for the first time it was celebrated in 1973. From the inception it is observed in different cities with different themes to popularise the importance of environment
protection and World Environment Day. The focus of the theme of 2014 World Environment Day was on Small Islands and Climate Change and the official slogan for the year is Raise your Voice Not the Sea Level. The End
