Curriculum Recorder Tutorial How to access Curriculum Recorder: 1. Go to the Fayetteville Public Schools website. 2. Highlight Web Applications, Employee Intranet. 3. Click on Curriculum Recorder and enter your FPS user name and password. Creating your Curriculum Recorder account: 1. Complete the information on the registration page. o Note: Press CTRL to select multiple buildings, grades, or subjects 2. Submit your registration. Setting up your default schedule: 1. Enter the number of periods you teach per day. Make sure you include a period for lunch, recess, specials, etc. so these time periods will show up in your lesson plans. 2. Enter your default Monday schedule including period names, times, and building. 3. Click on Check to apply this schedule for Tuesday-Friday (you will still be able to make changes to individual days if necessary). 4. Click Save Schedule, this will automatically take you to your Curriculum Recorder main page. Editing default schedule: 1. On your main page, click Edit Default Schedule. 2. Choose the day of the week to which you would like to make changes 3. Make any necessary changes for that day of the week (example: change from P.E. to Music for Tuesdays). 4. Click Save Default Schedule. 5. Continue to make any changes you need for the rest of the week. Save Default Schedule after making any changes to a day. 6. After making all changes, click Return to Main to go back to your main page. Adding a new period to your schedule: 1. From your main page click on Edit Default Schedule. 2. Select the day of the week to which you want to add the period. 3. At the bottom of the page enter the period name, time, and building, then click Add. 4. If you would like this period to appear on your schedule everyday click on Check to apply this schedule for the whole week. 5. Save all changes before returning to your main page. 2

Viewing your weekly schedule: 1. From the main page select the term and the week that you would like to view. Changing the schedule for one day: 1. Go to your weekly schedule and click on the day you would like to change (example: Monday 05/12). 2. If you are changing the schedule for the whole day (Holiday, Inservice, Parent Teacher Conference, Other), click on the Select to Change Day Type drop down menu. 3. Select the type of day to which you would like to change it. 4. Click the Change button. 5. Click Return to Week button to go back to your main page. Creating a lesson from your weekly schedule: 1. Click on the period name for which you would like to create a lesson. 2. Use the drop down menus to select the grade, subject, and standards that apply to this lesson. o You may enter up to three standards for each lesson 3. Enter a name for the lesson (ex: Everyday Math 1.1). 4. Create your objective(s) for this lesson. 5. Enter your instructional activities for this lesson. 6. Enter your assessment method for this lesson. 7. Enter any intervention that you are planning for small groups or individual students. o You may also go back after the lesson and enter this information. 8. Use the links box to enter any websites that you plan on using with this lesson. 9. The comments box is there for you to use to enter notes and/or reminders to yourself or a substitute. You can also go back after teaching a lesson and enter comments or tips for next time. 10. If you have any attachments (worksheets, etc) that you would like to attach click on Add or Remove Attachments. After saving, you will be able to add any attachment(s) that go along with this lesson. Enter the file name and browse through your files, click Attach File. 11. If attaching more than one file to a lesson, attach your first file and then check Attach More Files to this Lesson. Click Attach File and the option to attach another file will automatically appear. 12. After attaching all necessary files, click Return to Lesson. 13. Click Save Lesson Plan. 14. Click Return to Week to return to your weekly schedule. 15. You will now see your lesson title, an S (standard) and an O (objective) below your period name. This allows you to see periods for which you have created a lesson. 3

16. You may view this lesson and make any necessary changes to it by clicking on the lesson title. Each time you make changes to a lesson, make sure to save before returning to your weekly schedule. Creating a lesson for later use: 1. Click on the Create Lesson button that is located on the left side of the page. 2. Use the drop down menus to select the grade, subject, and standards that apply to this lesson. o You may enter up to three standards for each lesson. 3. Enter a name for the lesson (ex: Everyday Math 1.1). 4. Create your objective(s) for this lesson. 5. Enter your instructional activities for this lesson. 6. Click Return to Main. 15. This lesson has now been saved and can be applied to a period when you are ready to teach that lesson. Applying a previously created lesson to a class period: 1. From your main page, select the week for which you would like to apply the period. 2. Click on the period to which you would like to apply the lesson. 3. Click Assign an existing Lesson to this Period. 4. You may search for the lesson by lesson name, objective, standard, week, grade, or subject. o Note: it is only necessary to search by one of these features at a time. o When searching by name you may type in the entire name or just part of the name. 4

5. A list of lessons that meets your search criteria will appear. You may click on the blue title to view the lesson or the purple Assign button to assign that lesson to your period. 6. Once you have assigned the lesson, you will automatically be redirected back to your weekly schedule. From here you may click on the lesson to view it and make any necessary changes to it. Options for creating multiple lessons for one time period: 1. You can add multiple periods to each day with the same time allowing you to create more lessons for activities occurring at the same time (like centers). If you look at the picture below, you will see that there are five periods with the same 1-5 time. This format would allow you to create five lessons during that time for each day of the week. 5

2. Instead of listing each activity/center on each day of the week, you can spread them out across the week during that period. Center 1 and Center 2 on Monday - Center 3 and Center 4 on Tuesday etc... In the picture below, there are two Programming periods from 1-5. This option does not show that you taught all ten activities/centers on each day of the week; however, it is understood from an administrative perspective that you are actually teaching all ten Centers each day during that block of time. Copying a lesson to a different period: 1. Click on the period that contains the lesson that you would like to copy to a new period. 2. Click Assign this Lesson to another Period. 3. Check all the periods on your weekly schedule to which you would like to copy the lesson. 4. Click Assign to Periods. 5. You will now see the lesson title, standard (S) and objective (O) indicating that your lesson has been copied to the selected periods. Moving a lesson to a different period: 1. Click on the Move a Lesson button at the bottom of your weekly schedule 2. Select the lesson you would like to move. 3. Select the period within your weekly schedule to which you would like to move the lesson or select the term and week to move it to a new week. 4. Click the Move Lesson button at the bottom of the page. 6

Removing a lesson: 1. Click the Remove Lessons button at the bottom of your weekly schedule. 2. Select the lessons you would like to remove. o Note: These lessons will be removed from your weekly schedule but will still be in your lesson memory, so you can assign them later if necessary. 3. Click Remove Lessons. 4. If you want to access this lesson again for later use you may. o See Applying a Previously Created Lesson to a Class Period Searching for a lesson: 1. Click on the My Lessons button on the left side of the page. 2. You may search for the lesson by lesson name, objective, standard, week, grade, or subject. o Note: it is only necessary to search by one of these features at a time; however, you will only see the first 100 results. o When searching by name you may type in the entire name or just part of the name. 7. A list of lessons that meet your search criteria will appear. You may click on the blue title to view the lesson or the purple Assign button to assign that lesson to your period. 2. Once you have assigned the lesson, you will automatically be redirected back to your weekly schedule. From here, you may click on the lesson to view it and make any necessary changes to it. Sharing lessons: 1. Teachers within a building may share lesson plans with each other once they have been assigned to a period. 2. Click on the Plans button on the left side of the page. 3. Use the drop down menu to select your building and term. Then select the teacher whose lessons you want to view OR the week you would like to view. 4. If you search by teacher, a list of all of the weeks for which they have submitted their lesson plans will appear. Select the week you would like to view. 5. If you search by week, a list of all of the teachers who have submitted their lesson plans for that week will appear. Select the teacher whose lessons you would like to view. 6. You will be directed to that teacher s weekly lesson plans. Click on the lesson you would like to view. 7. To copy that lesson to your own schedule, click on the purple Assign button at the top of the page. Select the term and week to which you would like to assign the lesson. Check the period(s) where you would like the lesson to go and click the Assign to My Periods button at the bottom of the page. 7

Submitting weekly plans to Principal: 1. Once you have completed your weekly lesson plans, you will submit them to your building administrator by clicking on the Submit to Principal button at the top of your weekly schedule. o After your plans have been submitted, you may still make changes to them as necessary. o Submitting your plans allows the principal as well as other teachers in your building to view your weekly plans. Printing your weekly lesson plans: 1. Click the Print Week s Lesson Plans button found at the bottom of your weekly schedule. 2. A new window will pop up. Click Open. 3. Click File, then Print. Printing your daily lesson plans: 1. From your weekly schedule, click the Print button under the day of the week that you would like to print. 2. A new window will pop up. Click Open. 3. Click File, then Print. o This print option is great to use for substitute plans. Archiving your lesson plans: 1. This feature of the program is designed for accountability purposes. It is only for use after you have finished teaching your entire week of lesson plans. 2. Check to ensure that your weekly lesson plans are accurate and reflect what you actually taught that week. Make any changes necessary to reflect the actual lessons taught. 3. Click the Archive for Records button at the top of your weekly schedule. o It is very important to archive your records at the end of each week so that you will be able to create reports o Once you have archived a lesson you will not be able to make any changes to it. (Note: You will be able to make changes the next time the lesson is used.) Creating reports: 1. Click on the purple Reports button on the left side of the main page. 2. You may create a report two different ways- by viewing all standards taught in lessons or by viewing all standards taught in a content area. 3. Enter in your search criteria and click the View Results button. 4. The report will show you each standard and each lesson in which the standard was used. ONLY LESSONS THAT HAVE BEEN ARCHIVED WILL SHOW IN THE REPORT SECTION. 8
