UTHSCSA Bylaws Mission: to ensure continued improvement of the research environment for faculty, students and staff Goal: optimize the efficiency and effectiveness [of UTHSCSA]..to increase the national recognition of UTHSCSA as an institution competitive in research and teaching.
UTHSCSA Bylaws Membership 16 members, all schools with PIs represented, proportional to PIs PI on externally reviewed and funded project (3 years) Elected from PIs (3 year term, not more than 2 consecutive) Executive Committee (EC) Chair, Vice Chair, Past Chair, other members Chair elected by CPI for 1 year term Ad hoc subcommittees as needed Function Maintain census of PIs, conduct elections, update bylaws Monthly meetings (agenda set by Chair & EC) to promote/support research With selected parties/entities at UTHSCSA Annual Town Hall

2015-2016 Achievements Facilities Management: insure animal facilities modified appropriately for the power outages; reschedule power outages to less disruptive dates/times Human Resources, Employee Health and Wellness Clinic, Environmental Health and Safety, School of Nursing: improve immunizations and TB monitoring Office of Sponsored Projects: inclusion of longevity pay for staff on all proposals; eliminate detailed budget for NIH modular grant applications; re-evaluate grant presubmission requirements Conducted survey on campus carry and presented results to President and University Committee
