Keystone School District Knox, Pennsylvania Minutes of Work Session January 14, 2013 OPENING/ATTENDANCE Mr. John R. Slagle, President of the Keystone School District Board of Directors, called the Work Session to order on Monday, January 14, 2013 at 7 P.M. The Meeting was held in the Keystone Elementary School Group Instruction Room, 451 Huston Avenue, Knox, Pennsylvania. The following Board Members were present: Mr. Gregory A. Barrett, Mr. James A. Beary, Mr. Wayne D. Johns, Mr. Thomas L. McCoy, Mr. John R. Slagle, Mr. Dustin L. Swartfager, Mr. Kenneth L. Swartfager, Mrs. Stacey I. Thompson, and Mr. Dwayne E. Van Tassel. Also present were: Mr. Shawn Algoe, Mr. Richard Bonnar, Mrs. Sue Chomas, Mr. Jarrod Kapp, Mr. Vernon Lauffer, Mr. Rodney Sherman and Mrs. Erin Zacherl. ANNOUNCEMENTS Members of the public were welcomed by Mr. Slagle. Mr. Slagle said an Executive Session would be held immediately after the Work Session to discuss Collective Bargaining Teacher Negotiations and Superintendent Search. Mr. Slagle said the next Meeting would be the Regular Business Meeting on Monday, January 21, 2013 at 7 P.M. in the Elementary School Group Instruction Room. PUBLIC COMMENT None. REPORTS Superintendent--Mr. Bonnar reviewed: Busing changes for High School Dismissal will be five minutes earlier beginning January 14, 2013. New Policies: 1. #302: Employment of Superintendent. 2. #302: Employment Contract/Board Resolution. 3. #312: Performance Assessment of Superintendent. February 15, 2013: Make-Up Day. Special Education Plan. Thanks to Mrs. Chomas for completing this. Emergency Operation Plan. Thanks to Board Members for Board Recognition Month.

REPORTS (Continued) PAGE 2 Superintendent Mr. Bonnar reviewed (Continued): Resignation of Jessica Resig, High School English Teacher, effective January 21, 2013. Post and Advertise for High School English Teacher Position. Resignation of Jessica Resig as Boys Track Coach and Cross Country Coach, Post for a Head Boys Track Coach and a Cross Country Coach. Post for a Jr. High Volleyball Coach. Declare the 1 st Assistant Varsity Football Coach Position Vacant. Hiring of Jon Beal as 1 st Assistant Varsity Football Coach. Mr. Barrett said that is remainder of Athletic Committee. High School Mrs. Walters reviewed: Safety Measure Student Arrival. Winter Keystone Exams 91 Algebra 1 and English Literature completed in December. Senior Project Presentations Monday, January 21. Review of the project and scheduling/budget planning will complete the day. ASVAB was administered to Juniors and Seniors on Wednesday, January 9. Several members of the armed forces assisted in the administration. Positive comments about our student testing group were received. National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP) will be administered on February 22, 2013. e-academy teachers developing their online courses: 1. Kami Coursen American Literature. 2. Sandi McElravy English 9. 3. Alison Albright Chemistry. 4. Dustin Kifer AP Calculus and Physics. 5. Kelli McNaughton Career English. High School Musical Bye Bye Birdie on April 25, 26 and 27. Mid-Winter Concert will be February 12, 2013 at 7:30 P.M. Coaching positions. Proposal for Change in Athletic Trainer Fee: 1. $100 for 1 st Sport. 2. $50 for 2 nd or more Sports.

Transportation Committee Meeting: Mr. Beary said that the Committee reviewed the procedures associated with Students /Coaches Transportation. He said that the Committee will come back with recommended wording for next week s Meeting. Mr. Bonnar reviewed the Upcoming Student Field Trips: 2/1-3/2013: Varsity Cheerleaders to Hershey. Requested by Kami Coursen, Mark Whisner, and Andrea Porter using Budgeted Athletics. 2/26/2013: 5 th Grade to Redbank High School. Requested by Amanda Kline, using Pencil Sales and Principal Contingency Funds. 5/14/2013: 5 th Grade to Carnegie Museum of Natural History. Requested by Amanda Kline, using CATS Funds, Pencil Sales, and Student Contribution. 5/17/2013: 2 nd Grade to Progressive Ag Day at Clarion County Park. Requested by Kim Davis, using Student Funds and Contributions. 5/28/2013: 6 th Grade to Niagara Falls. Requested by Carol Adams, Michele Clover and Bruce Turk, using CATS Funds, Student Fundraiser Funds and Student Contribution. 5/25/2013: 8 th Grade to Pittsburgh Ball Parks and Clipper. Requested by Tyler Chambers, using 8 th Grade Coupon Booklet Sales. Mr. Bonnar reviewed the Upcoming Professional Development: 4-30-2013: School Law Workshop with Bernie Hoffman at Slippery Rock University. Requested by Shawn Algoe, Sue Chomas, Vicky Walters, and Rich Bonnar at a cost of $100 per person. Mr. Bonnar reviewed the Additions to the Substitute List, pending proper completion of Personnel File Documentation and Clearances: Craig Brothers, Bus Driver. Lee Berlin, Bus Driver Katie Cozad, Early Childhood/Special Education Brandon Slater, Social Studies

Mr. Bonnar and Mr. Beary reviewed the recommendation for the Elementary School Health Aide at $15 per hour plus Single Medical/Dental/Vision Benefits. The recommendation is for Sue Rhoades to fill this position. Mr. Bonnar reviewed the Intent to Retire Letters at the end of the 2012-13 School Year: Jerry Rembold, Elem/Jr High Band Instructor Joyce Schwab, High School Math Teacher Mark Whisner, Athletic Director/Health & Physical Education/Driver s Education Mr. Bonnar reviewed the Resignation from Rick Hurst as Jr. High Football Coach, Mr. Bonnar reviewed the Change of Name of Martin & Lori Whitmore s Bus Contracts to Whitmore Busing, LLC. Mr. Bonnar reviewed the Clarion County Career Center s Request to use the School Van on March 3 and 4, 2013 to participate in the 10 th Annual Rotary Outstanding Vocation Award Leadership Conference at McKeever Learning Center. Mr. Lauffer reviewed the proposed ACH Contract with CCCB.
