coming up! October 17 th Event hosts: Debbie Wisdom and JR Mills Fort Smth Outing join us in October for a drive to the Arkansas - Oklahoma border, and a day in the second-largest city in Arkansas 0! We're hoping that the weather will have cooled down a little bit for an October drive and for a poker run put on by Debbie and JR. $ 5 to play poker, natural hands only, nothing wild, no duplicates, total of 7 cards, pick your best 5 and good luck. You can probably bet that JR will include a meal at Harry's Hamburgers, and we'll take the Ft. Smith Trolley, or drive by the future US Marhshals Museum (Wild Bill Hickok, Wyatt Earp), or Miss Laura's Social Club (only former brothel on the National Historic Register, or just drive the streets to see the current Street Art Festival and the murals of eight internationally known street artists. We'll be meeting at the Shell gas station at Chenal and Hwy 10 in West at 7:30am, leaving promptly at 8:00am. JR promises a road or two we haven't seen!! This will be a one-day trip. If any out of towners want to join us along the way, please email JR at miata2003@sbcglobal.net or text him at (501) 416-7787 and tell him where you are coming from and he can give you a good guess and where and when we might be passing your way. Hope to see everyone attend!! Sunday, November 8th TSD Rallye What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon, than an Arkansas Miata Club TSD Rallye? JR has dropped hints about 'in and out' at Burns Park, which will provide us with some roads we haven't traveled for a while. A trip poker game will probably also be incorporated into the rally (there will be a charge of $5 per person for those playing trip poker). Rally and poker rules will be explained more at the drivers meeting. A little about a TSD rallyes: November is the return of the TSD rally, and for those that have never experienced a TSD (Time, Speed, Distance/Divorce) rally they can be a lot of fun. It takes two to play, which is helpful since that is all the Miata will hold! You need a driver and a navigator, you can switch up, but usually you argue no matter where you sit! That's what makes it so much fun for the rest of us - watching the squabbles. Anyway, the Arkansas Miata Club way to rally is without a lot of road workers so we have a stationary start/stop/restart/check-in which are referred to as legs. Each team is given instructions as to their leg, which tells them the direction they travel, the expected speed, what to watch for and a few other coded details. Each leg is timed and your start / end time closest to the estimated time wins the leg. We play usually with 4 legs assigned randomly so that players do not follow one another (you complete all 4 legs) and we incorporate a poker game into the mix ($5 to play). We would not want you to get bored or not have enough to keep up with. We all then parade for an early dinner to announce the winners and patch up any disagreements. It really is a lot of fun! coming up! October 29th, 30th, and 31st It's too soon for an official announcement, but the Lone Star Club has invited AMC on their Eureka Springs outing, and want to get an idea of how many people might be interested in going to Eureka Springs over the Halloween weekend. Bruce Gibson has rooms reserved in McAlester, OK for Thursday night and is planning a fun drive to Arkansas on Friday. Friday and Saturday overnights are in Eureka Springs, with a joint drive with any interested Arkansas club members on Saturday. Please RSVP ASAP to brucegibson5@gmail.com November 6th, 7th, and 8th The Arkansas Miata Club has received an invitation from the ARKLATEX club to join them for the November Leaf Gawk tour watch for additional details in the October newsletter, and on our Facebook page.. October 10th - Al Bean has invited the Miata Club to participate in the Car Show Page 3

special announcement! September is a general membership meeting to be held in conjunction with the September board meeting. Board meetings are normally held the third Thursday of each month; however, the September membership / board meeting will be held Monday, September 14 at 6:30pm. The location will be the Sakura Restaurant at 4011 E. Kiehl Avenue in Sherwood. The general membership meeting will address club business, current and future activities planned, a discussion regarding 2016 board members, meeting place options, 2016 drives and gatherings. A general informational meeting. Please save the date and make plans to attend. club logo items available You can take your own items to Sutherlands, or you can order clothing, backpacks, equipment bags, etc. from them for imprinting News from the keeper of the Club merchandise! If you have requested one of the special club logo polo shirts, please be patient. We were trying to get an order together that might allow for some discounts, but so far we only have about a half-dozen orders. We will be working with Sutherlands to get the shirts out for October, and will communicate with those that have ordered what the final price will be. We have also had problems placing an order for tshirts with our supplier of print-screening, but have finally made contact and also hope to have them ready for the October drive to Ft. Smith! The new tshirts will have the club logo on the back, with the crest on the front showing the Arkansas Miata Club along with the 25th Anniversary. We still have lots of pins and stickers left! If you are a new member, hit me up at the next event you attend as they are free. If you're already a member, you can still get extras at $ 5 each. Club car magnets are also available: 2 for $20.. We've currently got plenty of sets available, so if you're interested, bring your money and hit up a Board member at the next event you attend.. Contact Earl at (501) 804-3939, or JR at (501) 416-7787 Page 4

Presidential ramblings September has arrived, which usually is the beginning of great top-down weather in the Natural State.. Of course, so far we've been in the 90's with the accompanying humidity - but I've still enjoyed the top down!! This month we'll be having a membership meeting, and it's important that if you have the time you attend. Across many organizations this year, I've heard the some lamentations.. Nobody attends anything anymore!! We've heard that the coming weekend's "Miatas @ Hallett" has lower attendance, and we know we've experienced the same thing with our events from the April Mountain Extravaganza until the Shortest Drive in August. Now's the chance for the membership to speak - tell us what it is you would like to do, or where you would like to drive, in 2016! Come out to the meeting and let YOUR voice be heard. We've included a couple of our neighboring Miata Club events in this newsletter, and encourage you if you have the time and inclination to attend. It's always nice meeting other clubs, seeing their cars, and enjoying Miata time together so drive to Eureka Springs for a day, or go Leaf Gawking, or if so inclined take your Miata to a car show! Hope to see everyone at the Membership Meeting next week. Come and enjoy meeting and talking with other members, and know that Sakura has great food! See you there... Page 5
