AFTER SCHOOL CLUB DESCRIPTIONS FALL SESSION 2019 Little Chefs 10 Classes Week of 8/27-10/29 $125 Increase your child s passion for cooking with this fun class geared toward teaching students about preparing amazing dishes. Students will be taught how to make all types of fun treats. Please be aware that students will be using a toaster oven, grill, and older students may use knives with assitance. Please make sure all allergy information on record is up to date as students will be exposed to a variety of food. NEW! Little Chefs, Sandwich Edition, K-5: Each week, prepare and taste different sandwiches. You will never want a traditional sandwich again after you explore the wonderful world of sandwiches. This sewing club introduces students to the basic principles and skills required to sew, including design concepts, selecting and preparing patterns, operating sewing equipment, and completing sewing projects. Odyssey of the Mind: Session 1 10 Classes Week of 8/27-10/29 $95 If you are creative, a team player, and want to do a bit of acting, this is the club for you! The first trimester is all about team building, preparing for spontaneous challenges, and starting to build the project. Join the club now so you will be able to help your team from start to finish. This is a 3 session class. The last 2 sessions are mandatory. NEW! Odyssey of the Mind, Primary Museum Makers Edition: This is the first year we are offering OOTM to our younger grades, K-2nd. Students will use their abilities to create their own museum! The team will create and present an original museum and its exhibits. During the performance, the team will reveal three creative displays that explain the theme of the museum and show off team-made items. Ms. Ross K-2nd: Tues. 3:00-3:45 4th-8th: Tues. 3:45-4:30 NEW! Drone Squad 10 Classes Week of 8/27-10/29 $95 Learn to be a drone pilot! Drones can provide hours of fun and now you can learn how to fly them at school. This class encourages team work, curiosity, and critical thinking skills. Join us after school to practice flying drones and capturing amazing arial pictures.* Instructors 3rd -8th: Wed. 3:45-4:30 *Students will be taking turns with drones. NEW! Dungeons and Dragons 10 Classes Week of 8/27-10/29 $95 Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) is a fantasy role playing game in which players create characters and embark on adventures through math, role playing, and imagination! The club encourages students to coordinate and plan as a team. Every class will be a unique adventure in the dungeons and dragons club! Yoga Monthly Sessions $63 This relaxing club is just what your child needs after school to relax and strengthen their mind and body. Yoga is for students in grades K-5. K-5th: Fri. 3:00-3:45 Cheer Monthly Sessions $63 Cheer is a great way to get students moving in a fun and spirited way after school. Students burn off energy while learning creative, choreographed cheer routines. Cheer is for students in grades K-5. K-5th: Wed. 3:00-3:45 Hip Hop Monthly Sessions $63 This after school class will teach students all the right moves! Students will move and groove to choreographed routines and have performance opportunities throughout the year. Hip hop class is for students in grades K-5. K-5th: Mon. 3:00-3:45 Twinkle Toes Monthly Sessions $63 This dance class is geared for our youngest dancers in JrK and Kindergarten. Sports & Games Week of 8/27-10/29 $95 Learn the fundamentals of a variety of sports and games while developing fine and gross motor skills including balance, hand-eye coordination, throwing and catching. Play your afternoon away in this fun sports and games class! K-2nd: Tues. 3:00-3:45 Boys Flag Football, Jr. Week of 8/27-10/29 $95 In order to prepare students for being a part of the Midtown PAL sports teams, this new club offers our middle elementary students the opportunity to learn the fundamentals, positions, and rules of flag football while also having fun! 3rd-5th: Thurs. 3:00-3:45 Girls Volleyball, Jr. Week of 8/27-10/29 $95 In order to prepare students for being a part of the Midtown PAL sports teams, this new club offers our middle elementary students the opportunity to learn the fundamentals, positions, and rules of volleyball while also having fun! 3rd-4th: Mon. 3:00-3:45 PAL Sports, Fall Season Boys Flag Football & Girls Volleyball $150 (Parochial Athletics League) Please complete the registration form to be considered for a fall sport. Coaches will be reaching out to student athletes, who have expressed interest, with details about the two fall sports. All PAL sports cost $150 per season plus the uniform cost. Tournament play may be arranged during the season and will incur an additional fee based on the tournament cost. AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS AND CLASSES REGISTRATION INFORMATION 1. Review the After School Catalog for all available Fall classes, clubs, and sports. Please note the grade levels, cost, and schedules. 2. Complete the sign up form with student information, class name, and cost. 3. Submit paperwork and payment to the front desk. Please note that certain vendors are paid directly (Jazzerettes is paid with a check dropped off at our front desk). 4. If, after registering, and attending one class only, a course no longer works with your child s schedule, a partial credit can be deposited into your tuition account if paid to Merryhill School. If paid to a vendor, please contact the vendor for their policies. Refunds are not given and credit will not be issued after the first class. 5. Classes will be filled in the order registration forms AND payment are received. If a class is full upon submittal of the form, payment will be returned and child will be added to a wait list for the class or club. 6. Even if a course is paid directly to the vendor, the registration form MUST be submitted to the front desk to ensure attendance and accuracy of records.
