Fordham s Rose Hill Campus is located in New York City (population 8.2 million), situated on 83 beautifully landscaped acres, within walking distance of the New York Botanical Gardens and less than eight kilometres from Yankee Stadium, home of the New York Yankees. Distance to City Center: Notable Facts: 10 mile/1 hour via subway University grounds are landscaped by the Botanical Gardens. New York is undeniably the unofficial capital of the United States of America and is one of the world s most exciting and vibrant cities with a variety of things to do and see.
LAL New York is therefore the ideal setting for our Premium Experience course, an opportunity for students to really get to experience everything New York has to offer. Students participate in all of the excursions included in the Classic New York Experience Program plus they will also have the following additional half-day excursions: Major League Baseball Game (New York Yankees or Mets dependent on schedule) Off-Broadway Show (Blue Man Group or similar) Times Square By Limo at Night Classic New York Experience Our Classic New York Experience provides students with the opportunity to learn English, make new friends from all over the world and have the summer of a lifetime, in New York. Students study English in the mornings and/or afternoons plus enjoy a range of full-day and half-day excursions and on-site activities. Semi-Intensive Summer School Our Semi-Intensive Summer School is primarily aimed at students who need an F-1 visa for the USA. They will study English in the mornings and/or afternoons and one afternoon per week* of Semi-Intensive English, then enjoy a range of full-day and half-day excursions and on-site activities during the day and in the evenings. * Please note that the Semi-Intensive English lessons are scheduled on Saturdays so as to ensure no half-day excursions are missed. See the Semi-Intensive Timetable for more information. Any transfers outside of these times and dates are subject to an additional cost of USD150 (one way) per student. Transfers may involve waiting time of up to two hours after students have cleared immigration. Unaccompanied Minors Some airlines insist on students under 16 years of age being booked, at an extra cost to the client, as unaccompanied minors. This means a member of airport staff will stay with the child until they are handed over to LAL staff at Arrivals. It is important that this charge is paid for as a RETURN payment, otherwise there could be a delay in the student checking-in on their return which could result in a missed flight. In addition to this, LAL will charge a supplement of $50 each way to cover the additional time needed for our staff to pick up and drop off at the airport. This supplement must be paid at the time of the booking.
LAL provides the contact details of the actual person meeting the student one week in advance. If contact details are needed earlier, LAL cannot guarantee that the person nominated will be the person collecting the student so the information may change nearer the time as above. Valuable items can always be left in the LAL office which is locked every night. Catering One large dining hall Wide choice of unlimited, freshly prepared food Salad bar, cooked vegetables, water and soft drinks, choice of dessert Rota system with two sittings for each meal Boxed meals will be provided for Excursions. Boxed meals comprise a sandwich, drink (water or juice), snack (muffin or snack bar), packet of chips and piece of fruit Food offered on arrival and departure days. When the kitchen is closed we will provide cold food on arrival, similar to the packed lunch mentioned above. On departure, a packed breakfast or lunch or dinner will be supplied, in addition to any cooked meals taken on-site, depending on the departing flight time. Students choosing to book optional excursions onsite should note that preference will be given to those students that booked in advance where there is limited availability. Please note that summer school upgrades and optional excursions take place during the regular LAL programme. Students will miss some regular activities, but we take care to ensure that none of the big weekly activities are missed.
