SCHEDULE B: UNDERGRADUATE AND POSTGRADUATE MINIMUM ADMISSION CRITERIA F DEAKIN COURSES This Schedule is pursuant to the Admission Criteria and Selection (Higher Education Courses) procedure. Approved by Academic Board on 25 September 2018. Section A: sets out minimum admission criteria for UNDERGRADUATE courses. Section B: sets out minimum admission criteria for POSTGRADUATE coursework programs. NOTES: 1. Standard and course-specific minimum admission criteria are set for undergraduate courses and postgraduate coursework programs. Course-specific variations to the standard criteria require a strong rationale based on: a. prescriptive professional accreditation criteria b. academic considerations, including specific skills needed to participate in the course or where a course is specifically designed for students from a particular background c. strategic considerations, including attraction or enablement of particular student groups or alignment with particular industry needs. 2. Meeting the minimum admission criteria does not guarantee that an applicant will be offered a place in a course (refer clause 7). 3. Formal qualifications with equivalent learning outcomes and equivalent standards of achievement (where specified) to those listed will also be accepted as a basis for admission (refer clause 9). 4. Faculty Boards may specify: a. currency of formal qualifications listed as a basis for admission (refer clause 9) b. the nature of work and/or life experience that will be considered as evidence of ability to meet the demands of the course c. discipline areas that are related to the discipline of a course. 5. Standard and course specific minimum admission criteria must always be read in conjunction with English language criteria in Schedule A. Section A: Undergraduate courses minimum course admission criteria To be eligible for a place in an undergraduate course, applicants must meet the minimum English language criteria set out in Schedule A of the Procedure, and the admission criteria set out below in: Table A1 Standard minimum admission criteria for undergraduate courses Table A2 - Course-specific minimum admission criteria for undergraduate courses (to apply in place of the standard minimum admission criteria in Table A1). Table A1: Standard minimum admission criteria for undergraduate courses Course type Notes for all course types: Minimum course admission criteria Faculty Boards are responsible for approving disciplines considered to be related and for determining the criteria for relevance of work experience. This information will be clearly communicated to prospective students via public web pages. For all courses, the criteria include other qualifications at an equivalent level to the Australian Qualifications Framework qualifications stated. Work experience must be relevant to the field and level of study (as approved by the Faculty Board) and may be part-time equivalent.
