STUDENT VOICE There is an excellent support network which has helped me to make a successful UCAS application. Great support from teachers in lessons. Study periods allow me to study independently. The guidance and support received really helps you choose your next step in life. The partnership between the three schools enables you to meet new people.

Our students are challenged and set high expectations within personalised curriculum pathways. Delivered locally, these programmes ensure our students can compete nationally for higher education places and workforce positions.

WELCOME Teresa Lamb Head of Sixth Form Brimsham Green School Gill Hilleard Head of Sixth Form Chipping Sodbury School Gemma Davies Head of Sixth Form Yate Academy Welcome to Cotswold Edge, a collaboration of the three sixth forms of Brimsham Green School, Chipping Sodbury School and Yate Academy. Cotswold Edge enables our young people to study locally, promoting a culture of educational achievement and aspiration throughout the Yate and Chipping Sodbury area. Collaboratively we offer a wider curriculum, leading to vibrant and relevant opportunities for our students. Together we offer a superb mix of academic and vocational qualifications, enabling students to select the courses which meet their needs and interests. Our collective sixth form provision ensures a truly personalised programme of support so that all young people can achieve their very best, in an environment where aspirations are high, levels of care, support and guidance are second to none and where excellence thrives. We ensure our sixth formers have access to some of the best facilities in the area. In addition, students benefit from first-rate teaching and learning and from close working relationships with teachers and tutors who know them very well. Three successful schools, working together: we look forward to welcoming you to Cotswold Edge.

IN THE CLASSROOM Cotswold Edge Sixth Form is an exciting place to learn. Our joint collaboration enables us to offer an extensive Level 3 provision including a wide variety of A level and vocational courses. We also offer a range of Level 2 courses (the equivalent of GCSE) as part of a programme which includes work experience and maths and English GCSE. Cotswold Edge Sixth Form promotes independence and success through excellent teaching and close relationships with teachers and tutors. BEYOND THE CLASSROOM During their time in the sixth form, students will be encouraged to participate in opportunities and experiences beyond their academic curriculum. Many of these can result in qualifications and all of them are designed to broaden their view of the world and their place in it. The Extended Project (EPQ), for example, can be taken as a free-standing qualification and is highly valued by universities and employers. The Extended Project may explore an area of personal interest or activity outside the main programme of study. It is a fantastic opportunity for students to pursue extended independent work. We offer students the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of visits designed to expand global awareness and encourage them to develop as international citizens. Foreign visits include Uganda, New York, Berlin and many more. Subject based trips, such as Biology and Geography field trips, Art and Photography photo shoots and Drama and English theatre trips are also a feature of the collaboration. Close links with local universities allow our students to participate in a wide range of opportunities such as Access to Bristol, Sutton Trust summer schools and Oxford Target School Shadowing Scheme. Our students are also encouraged to engage with the wider community through volunteering, fundraising and work experience, including work with primary schools and senior citizens. Our sophisticated pastoral system, divided between the three campuses, enables us to offer highly personalised support and assistance.

BEYOND SIXTH FORM Many of our students go on to further study at university or on apprenticeships. Students are guided with the application processes through assemblies, visiting speakers and tutor times. In addition, students considering an Oxbridge, Medicine or Veterinary application are able to access extra advice on the earlier application process. All students applying for university are offered a mock interview to prepare them for the process. Our sixth form teams have close links to local apprenticeship companies such as Renishaw, Airbus and Rolls Royce.

In order to access a wide range of courses, you may need to travel between the three campuses, Brimsham Green School, Chipping Sodbury School and Yate Academy. A free shuttle bus service operates between the three campuses in the morning, at lunchtime and at the end of the school day.
