User Guide Teacher Edition JacPLUS system requirements Minimum requirements: Internet Explorer 9+, Mozilla Firefox 5+, Google Chrome 8+, Safari 5..8+, Opera + Adobe Flash Player + Javascript must be enabled (most browsers are enabled by default) Browser cookies enabled (Third party cookies optional). Operating systems: Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, 8RT Mac OS 0.6+ Important note: myworld History Atlas is not ipad compatible. Android tablets: Android.0+ (Icecream Sandwich) Google Chrome recommended as web browser (required Android.0) Please view the complete list of JacPLUS minimum system requirements at http://jacplus.desk.com/customer/portal/articles/6377. Enabling JavaScript in your browser Internet Explorer In the Tools menu select Internet Options. Change to the Security tab at the top of the Internet Options window. From the list of zones at the top of the Security options, select the Internet icon. Select the button near the bottom that reads Custom Level. In the new window that, scroll down to the item that reads Active Scripting. Select the option marked Enable. Mozilla Firefox In the Tools menu select Options. (On a Mac, select Preferences from the Firefox menu). Select Content button from the top row of options. Select Enable JavaScript. Google Chrome Select Preferences from the Tools menu. (On a Mac, select Preferences from the Chrome menu). Select Under the hood on the left. Select the Content settings button in the privacy section at the top. Make sure Enable JavaScript is checked. Safari Select Preferences from the Tools menu. (On a Mac select Preferences from the Safari menu.) Select the Security tab at the top. Make sure Enable JavaScript is checked. Note: Due to constant software and version updates it is possible that some of the menu elements will have slightly different names. www.myworldatlas.com.au 3
Teacher Edition User Guide Setting up your JacPLUS account The first time you visit JacPLUS, you ll need to create an account. Click the Create account & enter your registration code(s) button. This will take you through the steps of creating a new account. Fill in the required details on the form, read and accept the terms and conditions, then click on the Create account button at the bottom of the page. Please be sure to choose a password that you will remember. Note: The email address that you use when you create your account will be the username that you use to access your JacPLUS account. Once you have created a JacPLUS account, you can use the same email address and password to register all of your JacPLUS products. Logging in to JacPLUS When you log in to JacPLUS, your username is your email and your password is the one that you created during the setup of your account. Your username and password can also be found in your Welcome to JacPLUS email. Open www.jacplus.com.au, enter your username and password, and click the Login button. If you have forgotten your password, you can click the Forgot password? link on the homepage to have it emailed to you. www.myworldatlas.com.au
User Guide Teacher Edition Adding JacPLUS resources to your bookshelf Once you ve logged in, you should automatically be directed to your bookshelf. There is also a My bookshelf link at the top of the screen. To add a title to your bookshelf, you need the registration code from inside the front of your Jacaranda book or studyon booklet, or, if you have purchased a digital-only product, from the back of the online subscription card. 3 5 6 Click on Add a new title and enter your unique registration code into the pop-up box. This field is case sensitive, so make sure all letters are capitalised. Read and accept the licence agreement to continue. A thumbnail of your new title will appear immediately in your bookshelf. This bookshelf will house all of the JacPLUS titles you have purchased. Note: When you purchase additional JacPLUS titles, enter the registration code here to have your new titles appear on your bookshelf. To view the products on your bookshelf as thumbnails, click on Cover view. Alternatively, you can select List view to show your titles as a list. By default, your bookshelf is arranged by Learning Area (e.g. English, Maths, Humanities). To sort your titles alphabetically according to title name, change the Sort By filter at the top right of your bookshelf. You can also filter your bookshelf to only display titles from certain year levels, or learning areas. Adjust the Show filters according to your preference. If you are a teacher, you also have the option to filter your titles by student/teacher resources. Once your title has been added, click on the thumbnail to start using it. 5 3 6 www.myworldatlas.com.au 5
Teacher Edition User Guide Getting started with myworld History Atlas Teacher Edition To access your myworld Atlas History Teacher Edition, click on the title within your bookshelf. myworld History Atlas Teacher Edition includes access to myworld History Atlas Student Edition. To enable you to view your students results, your students need to have clicked on the Teacher connect button from their myworld History Atlas Student Edition. 6 www.myworldatlas.com.au
User Guide Teacher Edition 3 Students need to type in your JacPLUS email address and click Connect to teacher. A student may connect to more than one teacher. Connection to a teacher(s) can be removed by selecting Remove next to a student s name. 3 Assign Setting up groups in myworld History Atlas Teacher Edition To view collective results, you need to create groups in the setup page of your teacher edition. You can create as many groups as you like, and students can be in multiple groups. For example, your class may be one group, with some students organised into one or more additional groups to monitor special needs or interests. After you have created your groups, you can assign your students to each group. www.myworldatlas.com.au 7

Select Invite students to connect. 3 5 Add the student s email address. This must be the same email address that the student uses to log in to JacPLUS at www.jacplus.com.au. Teacher Edition User Guide Monitor and diagnose Monitoring students in myworld History Atlas You can monitor student progress in a variety of ways. The Activity monitor enables you to view the myworld History Atlas activity of each student for any period in the calendar year. 3 Select Monitor in your myworld History Atlas Teacher Edition. Select Group. A list of all activity for the past seven days is displayed. 3 5 6 Select the calendar icons to select Start and End dates. Select View. Teacher Edition User Guide Report Report achievement in myworld History Atlas Teacher Edition Report enables you to view student performance and results in a variety of ways. The data for any report viewed in your teacher edition can be exported and downloaded in Excel format. 3 Select Reports in your myworld History Atlas Teacher Edition. The Achievement Report appears with a graphical representation of results. Select Group to show a report for a selected group. A spreadsheet of a report with all group data (i.e. showing individual students) for activity in the past seven days can be sent each week to the teacher as an email attachment. 6 www.myworldatlas.com.au
User Guide Teacher Edition 8 Select Scheduler to schedule a day. 9 From the drop-down menu select, the day of the week for each group. 0 An email with an attached spreadsheet will be sent to your inbox on the selected day. Teacher Edition User Guide Viewing the Student Edition from myworld History Atlas Teacher Edition You can use your myworld History Atlas Teacher Edition to view the Globes of your students, allowing you to view progress and compare individual students or groups of students. Log in to your myworld History Atlas Teacher Edition. Select Go to Globe. Note: You will only see this home screen if you are accessing myworld History Atlas Teacher Edition for the first time. Hereafter you will be taken straight to your Globe. 8 www.myworldatlas.com.au
User Guide Teacher Edition 3 Navigate to the Viewing/Change View tab underneath your Globe in the bottom left-hand corner of your screen and select Change View. 5 In the Group drop-down menu you can select all groups or individual groups to view. Once you have selected a group you will then have the option to view all students in all groups, or individual students. Press Go. This view will display the pins your students have added to their own Globes, allowing you to evaluate their case studies and overall progress. You can also filter your view using the timeline at the bottom of your screen. The timeline allows you to view cases according to dates and study area, e.g. Ancient Egypt or Renaissance Italy. Make your selection from the drop-down menus below the timeline, or drag the slide-bars on the far left and right of your timeline to view a period in history. www.myworldatlas.com.au 9
