2 THE SORBONNE SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS THE LARGEST ECONOMICS DEPARTMENT IN FRANCE The Sorbonne School of Economics (EES*) is one of the oldest faculties in the discipline of economics in France (1971). It has a pivot role in the education of economist scientists and claims the role as leader of excellence. With almost five thousand enrolled students in the department, it is not only the biggest school of Economics in France, it has also a reputation as a first class research facility. *École d Économie de la Sorbonne With 800 years of excellence to build on, the university of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, a descendant of the University of Paris, is one of the largest universities in France today. Some forty thousand students are enrolled in 14 teaching and research departments and 5 institutes, which offer top level degree courses in law, political science, economics, management and the humanities. It aims to be a major pole of research and learning in Europe in the 21 st century. 2

4 INTERNATIONAL COOPERATIONS A TOP PRIORITY An increasing internationalization of our Department of Economics is a major lever of our policy of excellence and complementarity between research, teaching and studying. The Sorbonne School of Economics, with its tradition of humanities, places international openness at the heart of its strengths. We are dedicated to training citizens of the world capable of responding to the complexity of the challenges of today and tomorrow. I am convinced that economists have an important role to play in the years to come. To train these economists by transcending borders, both disciplinary and national, is the driving force of our school and what we work towards every year. Created in 2007, the Panthéon-Sorbonne Master in Economics is meeting a triple challenge. The PSME trains international English-speakers in the field of Economics at the Master level and French language. The program of study prepares students for further specialization in the 2 nd year master programs in France (Ex. Sorbonne School of Economics, Paris School of Economics, Toulouse School of Economics) or elsewhere in Europe. The recruitment of qualified and motivated individuals from all corners of the globe has allowed us to build a world-wide network of highly educated, openminded students with expertise in various fields of economics. 9 France Excellence Summer School at the Sorbonne School of Economics: International economics and sustainable global development Starting in June 2018 the Sorbonne School of Economics is offering a summer school on International Economics and Sustainable Global Development in order to form graduate students interested in continuing onto further PhD studies and a career in research and academia. This program will include a mix of international students to train them in research on international economics and globalization and to sensitize them in this framework on themes of research on sustainable development. The students of the summer school will have courses with students from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne following summer courses on international economics within the framework of an existing cooperation with Fudan University and University of International Business and Economics (UIBE). The combination of Chinese and non-chinese audiences provide an opportunity for all participants to learn to work in a multicultural environment. 9
