4 Institutional Presentation Business School São Paulo BSP Founded in 1994, Business School São Paulo (BSP) has been a leader in business education, and today is among the best schools in the country and Latin America, according to international rankings as QS TOP MBA, AmericaEconomia, and Eduniversal. QS Top MBA, a publication of the British education company QS, ranks BSP as the No. 1 provider of graduate management education in Brazil and No. 3 in all of Latin America. Anhembi Morumbi University UAM Founded in 1970, Anhembi Morumbi University (UAM) serves more than 37,300 students. Also, UAM is listed as one of the top universities in São Paulo (Brazil) by Guia do Estudante, a national student guide. According to the publication, the university s programs received more stars in 2013 (102) than any other higher education institution in São Paulo, a recognition of the quality of the academic programs provided by the university, as well as is recognized as one of the top ten private universities in São Paulo based on results from the Índice General de Cursos (IGC), an exam administered by the Brazilian Ministry of Education to judge the quality of academic degree programs. In 2011, BSP became part of the UAM. Clinton Global Initiative Established in 2005 by President Bill Clinton, the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) brings together international leaders to devise innovative solutions to some of the world s most pressing challenges. The mission of CGI is to turn ideas into action. Laureate has partnered with CGI since 2008 on a number of initiatives, such as the Laureate s Commitments. Laureate s Commitments Here for Good All of the universities, of the Laureate International Universities network, are rooted in the objective to be Here for Good, both in permanence and purpose. The organizations operate with both principles in mind and strive to create a thriving network that will have a lasting positive impact on the students and the communities that the network universities serve. Laureate has made two commitments to CGI to provide more than 1,000 scholarships to teachers around the world, and to recognize, train and promote 500 young social entrepreneurs worldwide. In order to achieve these goals to programs were launched, The Riley Scholarship Initiative and The social Entrepreneurship Program. Also, Laureate network disseminate and enhance actions of Social Responsibility during the Global Days of Service. 5

6 BSP s Commitments: Membership and Accreditations Principles for Responsible Management Education Launched at the 2007 UN Global Compact Leaders Summit in Geneva, the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) initiative is the first organized relationship between the United Nations and business schools. The mission of PRME is to inspire and champion responsible management education, research and thought leadership globally. The PRME initiative serves as a framework for gradual, systemic change in business schools and management-related institutions, based on three distinctive characteristics of the initiative: continuing improvement, a learning network, and reporting progress to stakeholders. BSP, as a membership of PRME, has worked on academic practices to enhance the six PRME principles: Principle 1 Purpose: We will develop the capabilities of students to be future generators of sustainable value for business and society at large and to work for an inclusive and sustainable global economy. Principle 2 Values: We will incorporate into our academic activities and curricula the values of global social responsibility as portrayed in international initiatives such as the United Nations Global Compact. Principle 3 Method: We will create educational frameworks, materials, processes and environments that enable effective learning experiences for responsible leadership. Principle 4 Research: We will engage in conceptual and empirical research that advances our understanding about the role, dynamics, and impact of corporations in the creation of sustainable social, environmental and economic value. Principle 5 Partnership: We will interact with managers of business corporations to extend our knowledge of their challenges in meeting social and environmental responsibilities and to explore jointly effective approaches to meeting these challenges. Principle 6 Dialogue: We will facilitate and support dialog and debate among educators, students, business, government, consumers, media, civil society organizations and other interested groups and stakeholders on critical issues related to global social responsibility and sustainability. 6

7 The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business The BSP is a member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), since The AACSB is a global nonprofit membership organization of educational institutions, businesses, and other entities devoted to the advancement of management education. Established in 1916, AACSB International provides its members with a variety of products and services to assist them with the continuous improvement of their business programs and schools. These products and services include: Internationally recognized accreditation for undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs in business and accounting (Note: membership does not imply accreditation.); Conferences, seminars, symposiums, and webinars that provide global professional development opportunities for business school administrators and faculty; Publications that provide insight into the business education industry. Access to extensive global data and corresponding reports related to business schools; Networking through groups and events held both online and in live environments; Sponsorships, exhibiting, and business development opportunities. In addition to providing its members with products and services, AACSB International strives to identify challenges and trends that are facing the business education industry through its research and various initiatives. The association also educates students, parents, employers, and counselors about accreditation and how to choose a quality business degree program that will fit their needs. 7

8 Consejo Latinoamericano de Escuela de Administración The Latin American Council of the school of management (CLADEA) is one of the most important networks of business schools around the world. Since 2010, BSP is a member of this international organization that provides a system of cooperation at the global level and maintains ties of reciprocal membership with the leading academic institutions in the world. The governing body is constituted by the President, Executive Director and Executive Coordinator, as well as a Steering Committee, academic Committee and team executive headquarters, which is responsible for the areas of marketing and communications. Currently, CLADEA has 202 institutions affiliates, both private and public, in Latin America, North America, Europe and Oceania. Objectives according to the statutes: Promote a high level and broaden the scope of the teaching of Sciences and techniques of administration among its own members. Provide assistance to other educational institutions in their teaching of the sciences and techniques of management programs. Coordinate efforts in order to promote research in management within each country and member institution, in particular, as in the field of CLADEA and Latin American society, in general. To ensure the dissemination of knowledge and techniques of administration between persons related to the social and economic organizations of Latin America. Provide technical assistance to the national and international organizations related to the development of Latin America. Promote the creation and maintenance of information centers, documentation and bibliographical related sciences and techniques of the Administration, for its application to the Latin American reality. Cooperate in the development of materials for the teaching of management in Latin America. Maintain a permanent communication system between its members and other institutions related to the field of management within each country and at the international level. Promote and take responsibility the publication of books, magazines and other of research and teaching materials resulting from the work of its members or that are defined as of special importance for the improvement of the activities of its members. Seminars and other international events which promote both the exchange among its members, other organizations and individuals committed to the solution of specific problems of Latin America. To ensure that development and management training programs should apply to the solution of the problems faced by Latin American societies, ensuring that the disciplines of management will become an effective tool for the social and economic improvement of these societies. Collaborate with initiatives to achieve greater integration of the countries of Latin America. Other activities in accordance with the decisions taken by the Assembly. 9 European Foundation for Management Development The European foundation for Management Development (EFMD) is an international membership organization that includes over 800 members from academia, business, public service and consultancy in 81 countries. EFMD plays a central role in shaping an international approach to management education and is a unique forum for information, research, networking and debate on innovation and best practice in management development. At the heart of EFMD are over 500 business school members that include INSEAD, Wharton, LBS, IMD, IE, RSM, Cranfield, HEC Montréal, CEIBS, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, INCAE, Korea University, University of Sydney, University of Cape Town, IIM Ahmadabad, as well as BSP, since Also BSP was considered eligible for EPAS Accreditation in EFMD offers diverse services which range from conferences regarding the latest issues in management, via surveys and dissemination of information, to EQUIS & EPAS the quality improvement systems run by EFMD. For business schools that have an international strategy and are looking to connect and engage with other leading business schools and companies around the world, membership of EFMD can offer many benefits and opportunities. Associação Nacional de MBA The National Association of MBA (ANAMBA) was officially founded in June 2004 after more than a year of planning, bringing together twelve of the most important National and International business schools in the country, top representatives of Public and Private Sector and Foundations. BSP was considered eligible for ANAMBA Accreditation in ANAMBA s mission is to contribute to excellence in the market of Master of Business Administration MBA programs in Brazil, by developing quality standards that direct the structuring and offer of programs. It is also ANAMBA s priority to keep the market informed about the quality of different programs in Brazil. The candidates, by understanding the meaning and importance of ANAMBA seal of quality, have all the relevant information and feel more comfortable when choosing a MBA program. In the same path, Schools engaged in the pursuit of excellence while respecting the national and international quality standards. The profile of programs accredited by ANAMBA includes a motivated and competent student group, a consistent and innovative academic curriculum and a faculty both academically and professionally qualified. 9

10 National Quality Foundation National Quality Foundation (FNQ) is a Brazilian center of study, discussion and dissemination of Management Excellence knowledge. Created in 1991, as a non-profit private institution, FNQ s objective is to widely diffuse the Fundamentals of Management Excellence. FNQ contributes with its work to the improvement of management practices, increasing competitiveness of organizations and, consequently, improving the quality of life of the Brazilian population. ( As part of principles 4,5 and 6, BSP decided to search for partnerships that could bring managers and corporations closer to our efforts to implement the principles. The National Quality Foundation accepted our proposition to create a joint study group on sustainability. 15 Anhembi Morumbi University s Commitments UAM Social Responsibility and Sustainability Programs Social responsibility is fostered through UAM s Corporate Social Responsibility Department in order to achieve the Laureate s commitments. UAM has created objective conditions for development, expansion and consolidation of programs, projects and activities designed to guide and ensure educational activities based on social commitment of the Institution to the society, in partnership with the Sylvan/Laureate Foundation and the International Youth Foundation. Also, UAM operates a citizenship education program, as well as health clinics that provide free services to the community. Sylvan/Laureate Foundation The mission of the Sylvan/Laureate Foundation, broadly defined, is to support the best practices in education and training throughout the world and to support the communities in which our employees live. Since its creation in 1997, the Sylvan/Laureate Foundation has provided more than $13 million in grants to more than 100 nonprofit organizations, including the Port Discovery Children s Museum in Baltimore, Maryland; the Kennedy Krieger Institute, which is dedicated to helping children with brain and spinal cord disorders; and Teach For America, an organization that recruits recent college graduates to teach for two years in low-income communities. To advance its mission worldwide, the Sylvan/Laureate foundation has developed program partnerships with global philanthropic organizations, including the International Youth Foundation (IYF). Through a unique funding and program partnership, institutions in the Laureate International Universities network in Mexico, Brazil, Turkey, Costa Rica, Chile, Honduras, Peru and Spain have adapted and operate IYF s YouthActionNet awards and training program for social entrepreneurs, benefitting more than 500 young leaders to date. The International Youth Foundation In 2006, the Sylvan/Laureate Foundation joined with the International Youth Foundation to launch the YouthActionNet program at Laureate universities around the world. The program recognizes and supports the work of young social entrepreneurs. Through the Laureate-based YouthActionNet programs, over 450 young social entrepreneurs in Mexico, Spain, Brazil, Turkey, Chile and Peru have received funding, training and networking support to promote positive social change in their communities, in different venture areas such as Civic Engagement, Economic Empowerment, Education, Environment, Health and Social Inclusion. 15

16 The Anhembi Morumbi Youth Initiative Iam Iam, Iniciativa Jovem Anhembi Morumbi (the Anhembi Morumbi Youth Initiative), was launched in 2008 as a YouthActionNet program to recognize young social entrepreneurs in the São Paulo metropolitan area. In 2012, Potiguar University (UnP) launched a similar program. After UnP became involved, the program became nationwide, forming the Laureate Brasil Award, with branches at Anhembi Morumbi in the southeast and UnP in the northeast. In nearly six years of existence the program recognized 100 youngsters, had more than 485 registered and impacted more than 70,000 people in all its editions. The Laureate Brasil Award has provided, to the young social entrepreneurs public recognition, a cash awards of $1,700 (including a monthly travel stipend), four-month course to enhance leadership and management skills, as well as access to a Global network of YouthActionNet alumni. 16

17 Laureate Global Fellows The Laureate Global Fellows program is an annual initiative that recognizes and supports 20 social entrepreneurs from around the world who have pioneered innovative solutions to pressing issues. This important relationship with IYF has empowered Laureate students and young people around the world to achieve their dreams and make a positive impact on the lives of others. The members of the 2013 class represent 18 countries. They are all social entrepreneurs who have produced successful projects on a range of issues, including education, the environment, economic stability and the empowerment of women, such as Kellen Ribas, a Brazilian entrepreneur, granted in The members of the 2013 class gathered in São Paulo, Brazil, and attended leadership development workshops and seminars at Anhembi Morumbi s Vila Olímpia and Morumbi campuses. 17

18 Riley Scholarship Initiative In order to fulfill the Laureate s commitment to provide more than 1,000 scholarships to teachers around the world (CGI), Anhembi Morumbi University, in partnership with the Municipal Secretary of Education of São Paulo, had already offered 40 full scholarships to public school teachers interested in attending Lato and Stricto Sensu courses, from 2011 to The last 10 scholarships will be granted by the end of 2014, establishing the goal of adding value to public school teachers and ensure the constant improvement of the educational activity (table below). The scholarship has a value equivalent to 3 thousand euros per student. This value must be used as stipend to cover transportation costs, lodging and meals, since the course is an investment that should be granted as a result of an agreement between the University of origin and of destination. The Anhembi Morumbi University enhances this program by promoting the initiative, selecting the candidates and by the intermediation with target universities on the Laureate network, with the collaboration of the Anhembi Morumbi International Office. In 2014, two students of the Anhembi Morumbi will be granted with this scholarship. 18

19 International Office Nowadays the world values professionals with international and multicultural experience, mastery of languages and decoding capacity/adaptation to different cultural contexts. As a means to start the project of internationalization of the institution was created in 2006, a Department of international relations, the International Office, responsible for coordinating all processes of international mobility, becoming thereafter the focal point between the Anhembi Morumbi University and Laureate network institutions to the operationalization of processes of internationalization of teaching activities, research, extension and teaching training. In order to Anhembi Morumbi students have the opportunity to experience fully the internationality, Anhembi Morumbi account with the International Office, an International Department of the University. In addition to offering the best opportunities for exchange between universities of the network Laureate by the world, the International Office also provides all the support necessary for students to travel with peace of mind for their studies abroad. International Office Program Outbound (Brazilians abroad) 2942 Inbound (Foreigners in Brazil) 1330 Water, innovative ideas and sustainable solutions The Federação das Indústrias do Estado de São Paulo (Fiesp) is the largest class entity of Brazilian industry. Represents 130 thousand industries of all sizes and from different productive chains, distributed in more than 130 employers unions. At the World Water Day, in 2014, the Anhembi Morumbi University, in partnership with Fiesp, participated in the seminar Water, health, floods and deprivation and the launch of the contest Water, innovative ideas and sustainable solutions. In the contest, students from eleven partner institutions are invited to develop projects on this topic. Those who come to be considered the best project, of each University, will be rewarded in September of

20 Young Learners Project for Cooking Young Learners Project for Cooking, conducted by Gastromotiva NGO, in partnership with Anhembi Morumbi University, has as mission to provide the study of gastronomy, in order to motivate young people from low income families to join the labor market, as well as support them in developing sustainable gastronomical enterprises in their communities. To carry out this mission, students learn about the technical processes, entrepreneurial actions and exercise their skills and competencies through a program of training, incubator of sustainable business and practice in buffet. Since 2008, the course takes place at the Tourism and Hospitality School of Anhembi Morumbi, offering facilities and equipment needed for the training. Each class has training for six months and, from 2008 to 2013, 416 young students were certified as recognition of their professional training. School Restaurant Project Community Action of Brazil is a non-profit non-governmental organization dedicated to inclusion and social protection of children and young people 0-29 years old with social and educational programs focused on education, citizenship and employability. In 2012, more than 10,300 people were benefited, including children, adolescents, young people, families, educators, community leaders and managers. In order to promote the professional qualification of adolescents from low-income families, in all areas of gastronomy, Community Action of Brazil and Anhembi Morumbi University work together to developed student s competences to act in restaurant, bars and cafeterias, such as kitchen aid and waiters. In 2014, the project will offer 300 positions for young people from 18 to 35 years. 20

21 Global Days of Service Laureate is committed to being Here for Good, both by providing students with quality education and by improving the communities in which the network institutions are located. Throughout the year, students, faculty and employees volunteer their time and services to help those with limited means. But once a year, institutions around the network commit to making a global impact. In 2013, the day of service was extended to a week, from September 30-October 6th, to give to the students, employees and faculty a larger window of opportunity to dedicate their time to local communities. The program had a great showing from Laureate universities in 10 countries and ultimately impacted over 63,000 people. Over 7,100 people gave more than 30,000 hours of their time helping people in need. UNACCAM The Union and support in the fight against breast cancer (UNACCAM) was established in 2001 with the aim of acting to combat breast cancer throughout the State of São Paulo in Brazil. Aims to train volunteers trained to offer support to patients and at the same time disclose the main forms of prevention of this disease. Some volunteers perform the art therapy as a supplement to medical treatment. Scientifically proven, this method brings many benefits to the patient s quality of life extending membership to medical guidelines. Anhembi Morumbi University joined the cause of UNACCAM and promoted a series of activities along the month of October celebrating the Pink October initiative. 21

23 Solidarity Actions by Freshmen Students Anhembi Morumbi encourages that the concepts and actions of Social Responsibility and Sustainability must be present in the daily relationships between the various segments of the University, and between the University and the communities of social reality. The project ambition is to improve solidarity actions, as well as, to establish the Culture and the Responsible Behavior in freshmen students, by actions of recycling, blood, food, clothes donation and sports activities, especially during the reception week of freshmen students called Trote Solidário (Solidary Reception). Recycling The SILCON AMBIENTAL, a national member of the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA), is a Brazilian company that promotes the collection, treatment and recycling of waste. The company aims to enhance the continuous technological development, taking into account the legal requirements and the maintenance of the environment. The Anhembi Morumbi University, in partnership with SILCON, offers permanent collection points for the effective allocation of recyclables, in all its units. 23

24 Blood donation The blood bank of the Hospital Sírio-Libanês is one of the oldest units of the hospital. Founded in 1983, was an innovator and pioneer in quality control of blood transfused to patients, as well as in the introduction of serologic tests for AIDS, hepatitis and other infectious diseases in The incorporation of new tests continued being implemented over the following years, ensuring the safety of blood products. Since 2012, Anhembi Morumbi University improves the blood donation actions among the freshmen students in partnership with Sírio-Libanês hospital blood Bank. Year Date Volunteer Approved Rejected First time / February / August / February / August / February Food Donation Founded in 1996, by Ernesto Olivero and Luciano Pedro Mendes de Almeida, the Arsenal of hope is a place of fraternity, open to welcome and meet with anyone who wants to find the meaning of your life. On the same premises where we ran the old Hostel for immigrants, today Arsenal of hope hosts daily 1,200 men who find themselves in difficulties, due mostly to lack of work, home, food, health and family. The partnership with the Anhembi Morumbi University allowed the development of the donation project which, besides benefiting the internals of the Arsenal, promoted the ethical and professional training of the freshmen students, promoting the idea that all are responsible for a better world. Currently we carry out campaigns of food donations to the Organization, at the Trote Solidário (Solidary Reception). From 2012 to 2014, the equivalent of 1,300 kg of food was donated. 24

25 Integration of freshmen students Since 1998, the Anhembi Morumbi Sports Center develops sports activities for the whole community of the university. The Sports Center runs projects that meet the demands of the sport-performance, sport-enhancement and sport- education. The Anhembi Morumbi Futsal Interbixos aims to provide the integration and friendship among the freshmen students of the Anhembi Morumbi University through sport. In 2014, 135 freshmen students participated in the Trote Solidário (Solidary Reception). Social Responsibility Day The Brazilian Association of Maintainers of Higher Education (ABMES), created in 1982, aims to show to the society the importance of social responsibility activities promoted by private educational institutions. The Social Responsibility Day aims to organize, annually, in one day, in the institutions and/or in spaces defined for them, a showcase of their actions/projects in the areas of education, health, culture, environment, among others, developed throughout the year. Anhembi Morumbi University participates in the event contributing to attendance in the area of Health and Quality of Life, Animal Health, Citizenship, Art, Culture and Education. The event aims to disseminate and enhance the actions of social responsibility, developed at the University, through the provision of community services. The impact results, from 2008 to 2013, affected positively 17,951 persons, through the provision of services to the community. 25

26 AACD The Association for assistance to the disabled child (AACD) is a private, non-profit entity, which has been working for more than 62 years for the welfare of people with physical disabilities. The AACD is a rehabilitation center, with the same quality of international centers to treat children and adolescents with physical disabilities and reinsert them into society. The Telethon promoted by the SBT (Brazilian Television System) is a Telethon that sensitizes the Country for the cause of social inclusion of people with physical disabilities. The donation s intention, obtained by the Anhembi Morumbi volunteers (306), was R$ , 38. APAE Founded in 1961, The Association of parents and friends of mentally incapacitate persons (APAE), is a nonprofit civil organization that promotes prevention and inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities. The Organization promotes and supports researches, produces and disseminates scientific knowledge and works for the defense and guarantee of rights of the person with Intellectual Disability. In 2014, the Anhembi Morumbi University started a partnership with APAE, in order to raise funds for the organization, by promoting the project Big Bazar. The goal of this project is to organize bazaars, at the different Anhembi Morumbi Campus, where there will be sales of quality products with significant discounts. 26
