9 Influencers: Higher Education Standards Framework Institutions are required to comply with the Provider Registration Standards, the Provider Category Standards, the Provider Course Accreditation Standards and the Qualification Standards (incorporating AQF) which comprise a subset of the Higher Education Standards Framework known as the Threshold Standards. TEQSA The Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) is Australia's independent national regulator of the higher education sector. TEQSA registers and evaluates the performance of higher education providers against the Higher Education Standards Framework, specifically, the Threshold Standards. Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) The AQF is the national policy for the regulation of qualifications in Australian education and training. It incorporates qualifications from each education and training sector into a single comprehensive national qualifications framework.

10 Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) A revised version of the AQF was introduced in 2013 which prompted an in depth review of all of our programs and courses which are being implemented in January 2015 The key aims of the AQF are to: establish pathways into and between qualifications ensure recognition of prior learning and experiences provide national regulatory and quality assurance for education and training provide increased recognition of the value and comparability of Australian qualifications align the AQF with international qualifications frameworks.

11 AQF Learning Outcomes The AQF outlines learning outcomes for each qualification type in the following areas: Knowledge: what a graduate knows and understands. It is described in terms of depth, breadth, kinds of knowledge and complexity Skills: what a graduate can do, includes cognitive, creative, technical, and communication skills The Application of knowledge and skills: how a graduate applies knowledge and skills using problem solving, decision making, by taking responsibility, being accountable and through collaboration. Volume of learning required for completion of the qualification.

12 Changes to Business Undergraduate Programs In we engaged in a full curriculum review to develop: degrees built on the themes of: Business Fundamentals Business analytics Professionalism Leadership Global citizenship a 12 course broad based Business core than spans all three years of the degree 8-10 course discipline specific majors advanced Electives to develop: global awareness in the course Global Experience for Business, opportunities for overseas long or short term exchange and study tours work ready and professionally competent graduates by providing opportunities for students to gain professional experience through courses such as Business Research Project, Transition to Employment, work placements and internships

13 Changes to Business Postgraduate Programs Develop 2 year Master programs that share a common 4 course core and pathway through the Graduate Certificate in Business

14 Advanced Standing Masters Programs Recognises prior studies and negates the need for a student to undertake early courses within a full Master program Provides a different entry point for students so that they complete the same program in a shortened duration Unlike credit it is not a recognition that exact course content has been previously studied

15 Advanced Standing Applicants who have: completed a bachelor degree in a business discipline; or completed a bachelor degree which includes a major in business, commerce, marketing or management; or completed a graduate certificate in a business discipline, are eligible to enter the program with 0.5 EFTSL (18 units) Advanced Standing and complete the program in 1.5 years of full time study or equivalent part time study. Applicants who have: completed a bachelor (Honours) degree in a business discipline; or completed a graduate diploma in a business discipline; or completed a master in a business discipline, are eligible to enter the program with 1.0 EFTSL (36 units) Advanced Standing and complete the program in 1 year of full time study or equivalent part time study. Students cannot receive additional credit for a qualification that has been used to award Advanced Standing, however additional qualifications can be considered for credit for no more than one third of their remaining duration of study.

16 Credit Masters Programs Will only be applied when courses were undertaken at postgraduate level Requires course content matching Requires course level equivalency Cannot exceed one third of the duration of the program Cannot be granted for courses undertaken in programs that have been used for advanced standing Course substitution is available where students have previously studied course content but credit limit has been reached.
