To reiforce the importace of these stadards, all writte etries i DECA s Competitive Evets Program must submit this statemet as part of the etry. PROJECT ORIGINALITY I may writte evets, chapters have settled o a strategy that uses the same well-developed projects year after year. Succeedig chapter teams ofte take the previous year s successful project ad seek to improve it. If that strategy works i achievig a chapter s goals ad the experiece teaches the priciples of DECA, the strategy serves the chapter, the commuity ad DECA well. Chapters submittig etries for chapter team evets, however, should be challeged to do more tha update the previous year s writte project. Project committees should avoid eve reviewig the previous year s etry. Judges (whose assigmet is to evaluate a project accordig to established guidelies) will be impressed by the origiality of a chapter s project.
