And as usual, PTA comes prepared with exciting and fun events for our Darby families and friends! I want to start by saying thank you to the parent volunteers who helped with the recently concluded Scholastic Book Fair. A special thanks to Jennifer Queen and Stacy Klinger for putting the book fair together and to the many volunteers who worked hard setting up our Darby Library and worked in shifts to make sure our kids enjoyed shopping for their favorite books. As always, it was a big success, we raised approximately $2,500!!! We have huge events coming up, Silent Auction on March 27 th, Talent Show on April 5 th and Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week from April 29 th May 3 rd. We hope you can join us and have some fun but most importantly, get involved in making these events memorable for our students. Our April Association Meeting will be on April 3 rd at 12:00pm in the Parent Center. All PTA members are encouraged to join as we will have our elections for the next school year. 2 A Message from the Principal Dear Darby Families: As we prepare for Spring Break in April, our Darby community is busy as usual! I want to thank all our families for your generous contributions and support of our students and school. It is humbling to see our parents commitment with your time and care to support our school. Our students are continuing to make progress in their academics, with supports in our academy and afterschool interventions. Our teachers are working diligently every day to ensure our students are academically challenged and targeting the needs of their students. Let s continue to work together to support the success of our students. Please make sure they come to school every day and on time. Make sure the child is well fed 4. Be organized 5. Be available These are just a few tips to help you create a great homework environment for your child. Start with these tips, and then observe doing his or her homework. You may also want to spark up a casual conversation with your child about what he or she does and doesn t like about homework. Based on the answers, try to accommodate, and make homework something your child enjoys. How do you keep your child focused on doing homework?
