Represented the University as a member of the Board of Governors of the Economic Development Council of Manatee County and the Committee of 100 of the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce. BUSINESS EXPERIENCE Consultant and Seminar/Workshop Leader: Supermarkets, Survey research, management assessment, organizational development and in-house training for a number of business and non-profit organizations including: Baycare Health Systems, State Farm Insurance Companies, Kash & Karry Pinellas County School District, Tampa Electric Company, General Telephone of Florida, Telecredit, Tampa Maid Shrimp Products, Florida Bankers Association, Clinical Laboratory Management Association, Hillsborough County Firefighter's Union, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Avatar Utilities, West Central Florida Management Development Network, and the University of South Florida Human Resource Development Department. Specialties include employee opinion surveys and the assessment center technique. (1983 to present)
2 Human Factors Psychologist: Director of Planning and Evaluation: Previous Consulting Experience: Naval Training Equipment Center, Orlando, FL. Reviewed research literature and designed experimental studies to determine human factors design features required for the development of visual and voice interactive computer displays used for training and work performance aiding. Supervised federal research contracts. Other duties included assisting in the management and operation of the computer system and acting as a consultant to other staff members on the statistical analysis of research data. (1982 to 1983) Hillsborough Community Mental Health Center, Tampa, FL. Responsibilities included program performance monitoring, supervising the organization's management information system, grant writing, Oversight of an NIMH grant and strategic planning for the organization. I designed and implemented Statistical studies of organizational effectiveness and implemented controls and programs to alleviate problems. Strategic planning duties included completing annual and long-range plans, producing annual reports, and assisting in a complete reorganization of the structure of the organization. I supervised a staff of evaluators, a grant writer and the research director of a large federally funded research grant. (1976 to 1982) Developed simulation exercises, acted as an assessor, and trained assessors for a large number of management assessment centers. Acted as a consultant involved in projects including development of a prototype selection system for State Employment Counselor position, job analysis and job satisfaction survey work for a variety of organizations, and conducting marketing surveys of viewer preferences in news programming for two television stations. Other projects included conducting organizational communications studies, assisting in the design and programming of a management information system, reviewing grant applications, evaluating the effectiveness of training programs, and acting as an advisor on equal employment opportunity and test validation matters. (1973 to 1983) COMMUNITY SERVICE Board Member: Speaker/Workshop Leader: Survey Research: Served on the Board of the Economic Development Council of Manatee County representing the University of South Florida/Sarasota. (1993) Appointed to the Hillsborough-Manatee Mental Health Board by the Hillsborough County Commission and later appointed chairman of the Planning Committee. (1984 to 1985) Presented talks or led workshops for numerous organizations including: Florida Health Sciences Library Association, U.S.F. Small Business Development Center, International Association of Personnel in Employment Security, American Society of Military Controllers, and the Medical Technology Society, Association of Managerial Accountants, etc. Conducted a state-wide needs assessment for executive education for Executive Directors of not for profit organizations at the request of the Dean of the Sarasota Campus. Conducted a television viewership survey for a local television station at the request of the Dean of the Sarasota Campus. Survey led to a strong relationship between the station and the University. Editorial Review Editorial Review Board of the Society for Advanced Management's Board: SAM Advanced Management Journal. ( ) Academy of Man Served on the Academy of Management's Placement Committee from 1988 to 1991.
