Position End Date Position Summary Information Primary Purpose Develops, partners, and delivers student support services to foster student-learning outcomes, persistence and graduation of Pacific students with an emphasis on serving African American/Black students. Administers the Students Emerging as Pacificans STEPs program. Partners with campus support services and equity programs in support of an institution-wide student success effort. This position is located at the Stockton campus.

2 Essential Functions Qualifications 1. Provides guidance, mentorship, and advocacy to maximize persistence and timely graduation of Pacific students with an emphasis on students of African American/Black descent; collaborates with other Student Life staff to support and develop the intercultural competence of African American/Black students. 2. Administers the Student Emerging as Pacificans (STEPs) program; emphasizing identity-conscious retention support services for students of African American and African descent. Recruits and selects program participants; develop and execute specific goals, curriculum, and outcomes for the program. Develops expansion (multi-year) retention plan for the program. 3. Works closely with the Student Life assessment team to assess services, programs, and outcomes and to collects, analyze data, and prepare reports. 4. As appropriate, confers with staff to develop outside funding proposals or grants. 5. Cultivates and maintains relationships with faculty and staff across campus and disciplines. 6. Develops and provides training designed to educate campus stakeholders about key department programs and services. Conducts informational outreach during on-campus recruitment, orientation, and resource events. 7. Serves as an engaged member of the Pacific community and performs relevant service such as being an active member of the University Diversity Committee, Pacific Black Alumni Club, and/or being a staff advisor to a student group. 8. Performs other duties as assigned or requested. Master s Degree in counseling, psychology, student affairs, or closely related field required. Minimum of 2-4 years professional experience in an educational setting working with a diverse student population, particularly students of African American descent. Demonstrated intercultural competence and the ability to successfully work with diverse constituencies. Demonstrated understanding of social justice issues, and sensitivity to concepts related to diversity, access, equity, and multiculturalism in higher education; demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion. Skills/Knowledge and Expertise: Effective communication skills and demonstrated ability to express ideas clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing, especially the ability to simplify detailed

3 information and articulate complex ideas in a manner that is easily understood. Demonstrated ability to promote, implement, and evaluate educational and informational programs. Demonstrated skill in developing strong partnerships with academic and administrative departments, student organizations, and community groups. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of federal and state laws concerning confidentiality of student records. Demonstrated willingness to seek clarification when needed and to meet deadlines at the agreed upon time and manner. Positive attitude, proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion Physical Requirements Work requires sitting for extended periods of time. Moderate standing and repetitive use of hands and wrists while using computer keyboard. Infrequent walking, climbing stairs, stooping, bending, kneeling and reaching. May be requested to lift up to 25 lbs. Work Environment/Work Week/Travel Work performed in a standard office environment. Work performed during normal business hours, additional evening and weekend hours may be requested to support program projects and initiatives.
