Advisors are available at all Walsh College campuses. Studets should schedule a appoitmet prior to registerig for their first semester. Oce erolled at Walsh College, studets ca seek academic advisig through the Admissios ad Academic Advisig office ad/or career couselig through the Career Services office. All graduate degree programs, icludig the dual-degree programs, must be completed withi 60 cosecutive caledar moths (five years) from the first semester of erollmet at Walsh College, as desigated by the first semester atteded o the studet s Walsh College trascript. If a studet chages his/her degree program, the studet has 60 cosecutive caledar moths (five years) i which to complete the ew degree program startig with the semester i which the program chage occurred. Extesios to this time requiremet will oly be grated upo review of the request by the Director of Admissios ad Academic Advisig or desigee i cojuctio with the academic departmet chair. Studets may be required to complete additioal coursework ad/or update to the curret catalog year ad degree/program requiremets. Oce erolled at Walsh College i a graduate degree program, academic coursework completed at a differet istitutio may ot be used for credit at Walsh College. A graduate studet will ot be awarded a certificate for courses completed as part of his/her degree requiremet. Studets are expected to be proficiet i curret computer software applicatios for word processig. Admissio to Walsh College Graduate Programs Admissios Procedures To apply to ay Walsh College graduate degree program, a admissios applicatio must be submitted alog with a orefudable applicatio fee. Former Walsh College studets are required to submit a admissios applicatio, but are ot required to pay a secod admissios applicatio fee. Applicatios ca be submitted at Admissios applicatios will be accepted util the last day to register for classes for the semester i which the applicat wishes to eroll. A applicat s admissios status will be determied upo receipt of all required documets. Every attempt will be made to process the applicatio i time for admitted studets to eroll i their iteded semester. To facilitate the admissios process, applicats are ecouraged to submit studet or uofficial copies of trascripts from all colleges atteded, alog with the admissios applicatio. Admitted studets ca begi their studies at the start of ay academic semester. Full admissio to the College will be grated oly upo receipt of all official trascripts ad required documetatio. Studets i programs that require the Graduate Gateway will be coditioally admitted util they successfully complete each of the Gateway Courses (COM 510 ad ACC 508 or MKT 550 for those erolled i the MSMKT program) with a miimum grade of B (3.000) or higher. A idividual may be admitted o a cotiget basis upo review of uofficial trascripts. A studet s admissio status will remai cotiget util receipt of all fial, official trascripts ad verificatio of miimum admissio grade poit average requiremets. Studets admitted cotigetly will be allowed to register for their first semester. All fial, official trascripts must be received before a studet will be permitted to register for their secod semester at Walsh College. It is the resposibility of the applicat to cotact all colleges/uiversities curretly ad previously atteded ad request that official trascripts be set directly to Walsh College. Copies of trascripts had-delivered by studets are ot cosidered official. Idebtedess or trascript holds at aother istitutio may prevet processig of the admissios applicatio ad/or registratio. For iformatio o iteratioal trascript evaluatio ad admissio to the College for those idividuals pursuig a F-1 Studet Visa, please see the sectio etitled iteratioal studets. After receivig the applicat s official trascript(s), the Admissios ad Academic Advisig office will evaluate previous academic credits. Ay discrepacy betwee official ad uofficial trascripts will result i the adjustmet of ay previously oted exclusio, waivers, or advaced stadig 23

2 awarded, ad may affect eligibility for admissio or chage a applicat s admissio status from cotiget to provisioal or deied. Geerally accepted trasfer policies are practiced alog state ad federal guidelies. Upo completio of the evaluatio, a letter will be set to the applicat reflectig the status of the applicatio ad admissio to the College. Applicats ca cotact the Admissios ad Academic Advisig office at ay time durig this process to iquire about specific policies ad procedures or the status of their applicatio. Applicats to graduate programs may eroll i ay semester withi the 12 cosecutive caledar moths followig admissio to Walsh College. If a applicat does ot eroll ad complete at least oe course withi 12 cosecutive caledar moths followig admissio, he/she must reapply for admissio. Studets who are required to reapply for admissio will be required to meet the admissios ad program requiremets of the catalog year i which they reapply. Applicats who reapply to the College may be required to resubmit all pertiet trascripts ad documets to Walsh College. Admissios Requiremets For cosideratio for admissio to a Walsh College graduate degree program, a applicat must: Possess a udergraduate degree or higher from a college or uiversity accredited by the Higher Learig Commissio (HLC), Middle States Associatio of Colleges ad Schools (MSCHE), New Eglad Associatio of Schools (NEASC-CIHE), Souther Associatio of Colleges ad Schools (SACS), Wester Associatio of Schools ad Colleges (WASC-ACCJC, SCUC). Have a overall cumulative grade poit average (GPA) of or better o a scale. Studets with a cumulative grade poit average lower tha but ot below maybe be cosidered for provisioal/ coditioal acceptace, depedig o the studet s program (see Provisioal Status ad/or Coditioal Status sectios for more iformatio). Idividuals for whom Eglish is ot their first laguage must provide proof of Eglish laguage proficiecy. This proof may be i the form of oe of the followig: TOEFL score of 79-80, or 550 writte; or MELAB score of 80; or MTELP score of 80; or IELTS score of 6.5 ( or Successful completio of Level 112 from ELS Laguage Ceters; or Successful completio of the highest level of ESL accredited program; or Successful completio of a Eglish Compositio course from a accredited U.S. istitutio; or Completio of a college degree from a accredited U.S. istitutio. A official documet of these test scores must be set to Walsh College for cosideratio i processig the admissios applicatio. The TOEFL & IELTS scores are valid for two years; the MTELP/ MELAB scores are valid for five years. Trascripts from the degree-gratig istitutio may be accepted as proof of Eglish laguage proficiecy. Walsh College retais the right to require reexamiatio or further Eglish laguage studies at a qualified istitutio for ay o-ative speaker of Eglish. Graduate Programs with Additioal Admissios Requiremets Gateway Programs- MBA, MSF, MSITL, MSM, MSMKT, Dual MBA/MSF, Dual MBA/MSITL, Dual MBA/MSM, Dual MBA/ MSMKT All studets i programs that require the Graduate Gateway will be coditioally admitted util they successfully complete each of the Gateway courses, COM 510 ad ACC 508 or MKT 550 for those erolled i the MSMKT program with a miimum grade of B (3.000) or higher. Graduate Commuicatio Assessmet All ew graduate studets who are eterig the MBA, MSF, MSITL, MSM, MSMKT ad MBA Dual degree programs are required to complete the Graduate Commuicatio Assessmet prior to their first COM 510 Commuicatio ad Success Strategies class sessio. It is highly recommeded that studets take the commuicatio assessmet immediately upo beig admitted to Walsh College. Studets are ot charged a fee for the commuicatio assessmet; however, studets must take the commuicatio assessmet i a proctored settig. The commuicatio assessmet may oly be take oe time ad is ot repeatable. 3 Provisioal Status MAC, MST, ad MSIT Programs MAC, MST ad MSIT studets with a cumulative grade poit average lower tha but ot below may be cosidered for provisioal acceptace. Demostratio of other factors that idicate a reasoable probability of success i the program will be cosidered. Such factors iclude but are ot limited to professioal work experiece, professioal certificatios, ad successful academic performace i prior busiess courses. Upo evaluatio, these factors may result i provisioal acceptace to a graduate degree program at the College. Provisioal acceptace requires a madatory appoitmet with a academic advisor prior to registerig for ay courses. The academic advisor will outlie the requiremets of provisioal acceptace as well as require the studet to sig a Provisioal Acceptace Form. Studets admitted o a provisioal basis to the MSIT program must achieve a miimum cumulative grade poit average of B (3.000) i the first two graduate courses take withi their degree program i order for the provisioal status to be removed. Studets admitted o a provisioal basis to the MAC or MST programs must complete their first two graduate courses take withi their degree program with a grade of C (2.000) or better i order for the provisioal status to be removed. Failure to meet the requiremets of the provisioal status will result i dismissal which prohibits the studet from erollig i ay further courses at Walsh College for a period of oe year. After a period of oe year, provisioally dismissed studets may be eligible to reapply to a Walsh College graduate degree program. Upo readmissio, all admissios policies i effect at that time will be applied toward a studet s applicatio ad evaluatio process. A secod provisioal dismissal is cosidered fial, ad the studet will ot be eligible for readmissio to Walsh College. MAC for Accoutig Graduates Applicats must possess a bachelor s degree i accoutig withi 5 years, which must iclude a equivalet course to Itermediate Accoutig II, passed with a C (2.000) or higher. Applicats with a bachelor degree i accoutig over 5 years must successfully pass a Walsh College Accoutig Departmet exam to determie accoutig course placemet. A active CPA licesure will serve as a update to the five year requiremet. Coditioal Status Gateway Programs Gateway Programs- MBA, MSF, MSITL, MSM, MSMKT, Dual MBA/MSF, Dual MBA/MSITL, Dual MBA/MSM, Dual MBA/ MSMKT All studets i programs that require the Graduate Gateway will be coditioally admitted util they successfully complete each of the Gateway courses, COM 510 ad ACC 508 or MKT 550 for those erolled i the MSMKT program with a miimum grade of B (3.000) or higher. Credit for Extra-Istitutioal Learig Walsh College awards credit ad/or course competecy waivers for documeted postsecodary-level extra-istitutioal learig. Extra istitutioal learig is defied as learig that is attaied outside of the sposorship of legally authorized ad appropriately accredited postsecodary educatio istitutios. Reliable ad valid measures of learig outcomes are used to assess ad grat such awards. Whe applyig for admissio to Walsh College, a studet may request credit for learig already acquired i settigs outside of Walsh College. The request will be evaluated as part of the admissios process. Documetatio verifyig attaimet of college-level learig is required. Walsh College will grat academic credit for military experiece based o ACE recommeded guidelies ad requiremets. ACE recommeded academic credit for military credit is listed o a official JST (Joit Services Trascript), CCAF (Commuity College of the Air Force), or CGI (Coast Guard Istitute) trascript. Uofficial copies of trascripts may be submitted for the iitial admissios evaluatio process with official trascripts required for full admissio as oted i the Admissios to Walsh College sectios of the catalog. Credit hours categorized as L= Lower; U= Upper; ad G= Graduate Level are accepted ad may be reviewed for possible equivalet credit. Equivalecy of credit for required coursework will be determied based o ACE recommedatios, accredited commuity college acceptace of credit, ad/or Walsh College academic departmet chair review. Readmissio to Walsh College If a studet or applicat has ot erolled i ay courses (as desigated by the last semester atteded o the studet s Walsh College trascript) for 12 cosecutive caledar moths, the studet/applicat must apply for readmissio through the Admissios ad Academic Advisig office. At the time of readmissio, all coursework will be evaluated based o curret admissios requiremets; required coursework ad acceptable trasfer equivalecies; ad miimum grade requiremets 25

4 for trasfer ad graduatio. Time limitatios for eligibility/ trasferability as determied by each academic area may apply. Readmitted studets will be resposible for the degree requiremets outlied i the catalog year to which they are readmitted, ad will be directed to their Program Pla detailig their degree requiremets. Studets who are grated credit for courses previously take at Walsh College may be required to complete their program i a period of time ot to exceed the maximum 60 moths from iitially startig at Walsh College. Trascripts of studets who have bee readmitted to the College will reflect all courses take, credit hours attempted, ad grades received while at Walsh College, eve though previous coursework with a grade below C (2.000) will ot be couted toward the curret degree program. Vetera studets who were deployed or depedets of veteras who were deployed ad reapply for admissio may petitio to be readmitted uder the same academic program ad graduatio criteria i affect at the time of deploymet. A copy of the vetera s deploymet paperwork ad legth of stay will be required as part of the readmissio process. Studets i this situatio should cotact a Walsh College School Certifyig Official or a academic advisor to provide the deploymet paperwork so that their academic file may be updated. Upo retur from duty, it is highly recommeded that the vetera review the curret ad former programs with a academic advisor to see which program best beefits the studet. If the vetera opts to move to the ewest program, all admissio ad catalog policies of the ewest catalog will apply ad the studet may ot switch back. Graduate studets who are readmitted to aother graduate degree may be eligible to have their former grades excluded from their grade poit average uder certai limited coditios. See the sectio etitled Clea Slate Policy or cotact a academic advisor i the Admissios ad Academic Advisig office for details. Studets who were placed o academic probatio or academically dismissed must meet with a academic advisor to discuss eligibility for readmissio. Please refer to the sectio o Academic Stadig prior to reapplyig for admissio. Cosideratio of all prior activity, icludig studet coduct, will be reviewed durig evaluatio ad may be grouds for deial of readmissio. Clea Slate Policy Graduate studets who have ot atteded Walsh College for at least oe year (12 cosecutive moths) ad are reapplyig for admissio to a graduate degree program other tha the degree program they were pursuig whe they last atteded Walsh College, may request a oe-time review of their previous academic coursework for exclusio from the grade poit average (GPA) calculatio uder their ew program. Courses chose to be excluded from GPA calculatio will iclude all attempts of the course. Uder this policy, all courses, grades, ad academic stadig otatios will still appear o the studet s academic trascript, but the studet s cumulative GPA for the ew program will oly iclude previous course work required or used as electives uder the ew program. Studets are required to sig a Clea Slate Policy Form ad a otatio that the Clea Slate Policy has bee ivoked will appear o the studet s trascript. After ivokig the Clea Slate Policy, the studet s trascript will ot be updated util the studet registers uder the ew program. This optio allows courses ad grades from the studet s previous graduate degree or academic program to be excluded from their ew degree program with the followig stipulatios: Previously completed courses will ot be excluded from cumulative grade poit average (CUM GPA) calculatios for the ew academic program if the course meets oe of the followig criteria: Ay course, icludig those that are dual listed, ad all attempts of that course, that is a required course i the studet s ew degree program; Ay course, icludig all attempts of that course, that the studet has chose to iclude as a elective course i the ew degree program; Ay course that is beig couted to reach the total umber of required credit hours for a ew graduate degree. Courses whose grades have bee affected by fidigs of academic miscoduct. Course(s) selected by the studet to be used toward degree requiremets must be idetified at the time of readmissio. Course selectios caot be chaged. The Clea Slate Policy caot be used more tha oce ad all courses attempted, grades eared ad academic stadig otatios remai o the studet s trascript eve though some courses/grades uder the provisios of this policy may ot be couted toward the ew degree/program or grade poit average. After havig take advatage of the Clea Slate Policy, should the studet reapply to aother degree or certificate program, all courses attempted ad grades received as part of the Clea Slate Policy will be used to re-compute the studet s cumulative grade poit average for admissio evaluatio purposes. A studet who ivoked the Clea Slate Policy, but does ot atted Walsh College for oe year or is dismissed, will have all previously excluded courses ad grades re-etered ito the cumulative GPA. Degree/Program Chages A studet desirig to chage from oe graduate program or degree to aother must officially request this chage with a academic advisor. A complete evaluatio will be required before the studet is admitted ito the desired degree program. Graduate courses already completed at Walsh College will be evaluated for appropriateess for the ew program/degree. A chage i graduate program/degree may result i the idetificatio of required prerequisite coursework. The studet will be placed o the most curret program of study ad a ew academic Program Pla will be created. All curret admissios requiremets ad policies will apply. If a studet wishes to chage their status from graduate degree seekig to o-degree or ay other status, they 26

5 must complete a ew applicatio. Applicatios ca be submitted at Pursuig a Secod Graduate Degree at Walsh College Studets may apply for a secod graduate degree at Walsh College upo completio of their curret academic degree program. Studets must follow all procedures outlied for applicatio to graduate programs. Cosideratio of prior graduate academic coursework that has bee successfully completed at Walsh College will be reviewed as outlied i sectios etitled Advaced Stadig Credit, Course Waivers ad Exclusios. Studets who have graduated with a MBA degree from Walsh College are ot eligible for admissio to the MSM program. Advaced Stadig Credit Studets may receive advaced stadig credit for graduate-level coursework that is directly equivalet to a required ad/or cocetratio course i their specific Walsh College degree program. If a studet is awarded advaced stadig credit, the semester credit hours are applied toward the appropriate degree program. The MAC, MBA, MSF, MSITL, MSM, MST ad Dual degrees allow for a maximum of 12 semester credit hours of advaced stadig credit for graduate coursework. The MSMKT degree will allow for a maximum of 9 semester credit hours of advaced stadig credit for graduate coursework. The MSIT degree allows for a maximum of semester credit hours of advaced stadig credit for graduat coursework. Advaced stadig credit will oly be awarded oce for a trasfer course withi a graduate program; i subsequet programs, the course may be used to obtai a waiver or exclusio, if time limits ad equivalecies are met. Approved courses take at the graduate level while a udergraduate studet may ot exceed six semester credit hours of advaced stadig toward the graduate program. Adavaced stadig credit awarded for a course set ca be used to fulfil elective ad cocetratio requiremets but will ot be desigated o the studet s trascript as a cocetratio. A studet will ot be awarded a certificate for courses completed for a cocetratio. A studet who is pursuig a secod graduate degree at Walsh College will ot be awarded a cocetratio that was previously completed i the first degree. For coursework to be eligible for advaced stadig, the followig criteria must be met: The course must be equivalet to a course offered as a part of a Walsh College graduate degree program. The graduate trasfer course must have bee completed with a grade of B (3.000) or better from a college or uiversity accredited by the Higher Learig Commissio (HLC), Middle States Associatio of Colleges ad Schools (MSCHE), New Eglad Associatio of Schools (NEASC-CIHE), Souther Associatio of Colleges ad Schools (SACS), Wester Associatio of Schools ad Colleges (WASC-ACCJC, SCUC) or have bee approved through the Extra Istitutioal Credit policy. Graduate courses completed i residece at Walsh College must be completed with a grade of C (2.000) or better to be cosidered for advace stadig. The course must have bee completed withi the 60 caledar moths (five years) precedig the date of iitial admissio. Graduate courses take withi te years precedig the date of iitial admissio i residece at Walsh College may be evaluated for advaced stadig with the exceptio of ACC/TAX courses, which must be take withi 5 years. **Studets ca cotact the Walsh College Admissios ad Academic Advisig office for additioal iformatio. Course Waivers A applicat may be eligible to receive waivers for required ad/or elective coursework i the graduate program. Ulike advaced stadig, a applicat will receive o credit for the waiver. A waiver requires the applicat to replace the waived course with a allowable elective course. Waivers may be awarded for coursework that is determied to be equivalet to courses required i the graduate degree program. Courses must have bee completed at Walsh College or at aother istitutio prior to admissio to Walsh College. If the studet desires to take a course that has bee waived for a grade, they must cotact the Admissios ad Academic Advisig office. To apply eligible courses as a waiver for required coursework, the followig criteria must be met: The coursework must be equivalet to a course offered as part of a Walsh College graduate degree program. Exclusios may be give whe the studet has take a equivalet course (icludig udergraduate coursework) at Walsh College or at a trasfer istitutio. Excluded foudatio courses do ot have to be replaced by aother course i the studet s graduate degree program. 27

6 No-Degree Graduate Coursework A idividual who holds the miimum of a bachelor s degree is eligible to take courses at Walsh College as a o-degree graduate studet. All course prerequisites must be met. A idividual iterested i takig courses as a o-degree studet should complete a o-degree applicatio ad follow the same procedures as a applicat to a graduate degree program. A o-degree studet who applies to ay Walsh College graduate degree program will be held to all admissios requiremets uder the catalog year i which the idividual applies. No-degree coursework that is a required or elective course as part of a degree program will be applied ad moved to the studet s graduate trascript, icludig all dual listed courses ad all attempts of that course. Time limitatios for trasferability as determied by each academic area may apply. Dual Graduate Degrees Walsh College offers the Dual degree programs for studets iterested i pursuig both a MBA ad oe of the followig Master of Sciece degrees: Fiace, Iformatio Techology Leadership, Maagemet ad Marketig. Studets must complete all courses required as outlied i the Dual degree requiremets to be awarded both academic degrees. Studets choosig to complete oly oe degree program will be required to pursue a academic program chage. The studet will be placed o the most curret program of study ad issued a updated academic program pla. All curret admissios requiremets ad policies will apply. Certificatios ad Licesures through Extra Istitutioal Credit (EIC) Studets with active certificates or licesures i ay of the followig may be grated advaced stadig credit: CGEIT certificatio will receive advaced stadig credit for IT 505 CISSP certificatio will receive advaced stadig credit for IT 565 ad IT 566 CISM certificatio will receive advaced stadig credit for IT 505 ad IT 566 Graduate Degree Programs Master of Busiess Admiistratio (MBA) The Walsh College Master of Busiess Admiistratio (MBA) will ehace a studet s ability to icorporate opportuistic decisio-makig ad systematic approaches i solvig complex problems. Studets will develop a framework of how to thik ad make decisios i today s fast-paced, busiess eviromet. Courses i the Walsh MBA are taught by prove busiess leaders who are experieced practitioers i their fields - this bridges the gap betwee real-world practices ad classroom experiece. The MBA prepares graduates for positios i mid- to upper-level maagemet by providig a broad, geeral educatio i major areas of busiess study. The MBA program ecompasses the study of accoutig, fiace, maagemet, iformatio techology, ecoomics, strategy, ad related disciplies.
