2 The EUROPEAN STUDY AND CAREER FAIR, which takes place in Mannheim, Germany on 3rd of April 2012, brings together more than 1000 international students from all over Europe and 500 local students, with universities, companies, scholarship platforms, academic institutions, and other organisations, providing a perfect space for networking and making life choices for the participants future. The event is organised as part of the Biannual General Assembly (Agora) of the biggest interdisciplinary European Students Association, AEGEE-Europe. The participants of the Agora, as well as local students and international students participating in different exchange programmes and temporarily living in the city, get the opportunity to select from programmes offered by up to 40 European universities and internships and career opportunities of international institutions and companies. The sixth edition of the European Study and Career Fair brings together students from different backgrounds with a unique profile. AEGEE s members have a strong interest in international cooperation and dispose of a broad experience in fields such as project management, intercultural teamwork and virtual communication. The event will be open also for local students who are interested in changing their living environment by moving abroad for educational or career reasons. It is a truly unique opportunity for universities, companies and other partners to promote their programmes among potential international students or employees. The European Study and Career Fair organised by AEGEE-Europe unites universities, institutions and other partners with young people from literally all over Europe (including 40 European countries). The European Study and Career Fair will be promoted through the diverse means of communication owned by AEGEE, as well as in cooperation with its partners, the local branches of AEGEE and the University of Mannheim. A special European Study and Career Fair booklet will be printed and distributed at the venue to all participants and guests of the General Assembly. 2

3 AEGEE Members Profile The average AEGEE member is a young person who distinguishes him or herself from his/her peers by his/her openness towards other cultures, proactive approach and enthusiasm to make a positive change in the society he/she lives in. AEGEE S MEMBERS ARE: talented and motivated young activists, diverse in terms of gender, countries of origin, academic disciplines and backgrounds, apt to work in international teams, possessing a high degree of intercultural awareness, gained during our events through the direct contact with other students coming from all over Europe, competent to work in long-distance teams, highly idealistic, yet determined to transform their ideas into practice, willing to take responsibility, experienced and possess know-how in European youth work (including elements of project management, international team work and active citizenship.) 4 4 AEGEE s Profile AEGEE (European Students Forum) is the largest interdisciplinary student association of the continent, which promotes a unified Europe, cross-border cooperation, communication and integration among students and strives to create an open and tolerant society for tomorrow. AEGEE is a voluntary non-profit organization that operates without being linked to any political party. It is represented in more than 200 university cities, in 40 countries all around Europe. The aims of AEGEE Founded in 1985, AEGEE strives towards increasing cooperation amongst students, along the ideal of European integration, thus, working towards removing mental and physical borders, while promoting mutual tolerance and understanding across cultures. This allows the association to boast of a large pool of internationallyoriented students with intercultural communication skills and experience in project and organisational management. Affiliations AEGEE has been working on a regular basis with the European Commission on implementing projects and is consulted on themes related to students. The association enjoys participatory status at the Council of Europe, consultative status at the United Nations through ECOSOC, operational status with UNESCO in its international projects, and is member of the European Youth Forum (YFJ) and the European Movement International (EMI). This allows the association to have a significant impact on civil society institutions, both on local and regional level, such as with authorities and universities, as well as on the European and international level, in Brussels and beyond. Edwards (former Presidents of the Conference of European Rectors), and Eric Froment (former President of the European University Association).

5 Practical Information AEGEE KEY NUMBERS 13,000 students Venue and Booths: The European Study and Career Fair will take place on the Campus of the University of Mannheim. More than 12,000 students study there. Each exhibitor will receive its own fair box of approximately 2.5x2.5 meter equipped with necessary tables and chairs. On case of need, the box can be supplied with electricity. European Study and Career Fair Booklet: The publication to the Fair will include information about all exhibitors and articles from institutions and organisations present at the fair. It will be available as printed version to accompany the fair (in colour in the A5 format) and in an online version.
