3 TURKU LAW SCHOOL: Curricula Guides Faculty of Law and Turku School of Economics course selection: The courses are open for exchange and visiting students as well as degree students of the cooperative institutions Curricula Guide is available electronically in Nettiopsu: en&lang=en&lvv=2016 Åbo Akademi courses can be found from their own webpages and have separate registration system TURKU LAW SCHOOL: Teaching Schedules Four teaching periods: I period II period III period IV period Every faculty has their own periods (less or more than four periods and also the dates can be different) Teaching Schedules can be found in the electronic study guide in Nettiopsu: 6&ops=269 Exception: Turku School of Economics teaching schedules can be found in TSE intranet site: 3
4 COURSE REGISTRATION at the Faculty of Law Registration in Nettiopsu: Registration periods can be found in Nettiopsu already before the actual registration period begins. Course registration usually ends 1 week before the course starts Specialisation courses (12 ECTS) have separate registration process. NB! students have to also register for every examination at least one week before the examination date by 11:59 PM at the latest in Nettiopsu: SPECIALISATION COURSES 12 ECTS Offers the student an opportunity to deeply familiarize him- or herself with the thematic entities he/she has chosen Different kinds of teaching methods and practices The specialisation courses always include a 4 credit seminar in which every student completes a written assignment ca. 15 pages The degree students of the faculty of law have priority in the course selections of the specialisation courses Registration in July and November July: not available for exchange students exchange students must attend the first lecture and see if there are available places. Information on application period for spring semester s course will be sent separately via 4
5 EXAMS at the Faculty of Law Exams on fixed Thursdays at in Natural Sciences building 1, in the lecture halls IX and X (University Hill) exams last three hours Exact dates and places of the exams can be found in the exam registration form in Nettiopsu and in Teaching Schedules Please read the general instructions carefully through before your first exam! Dictionaries are usually allowed in the exams: EXCEPT electronic dictionaries and ones which include explanatory parts own remarks and attachments are also forbidden In case you are going to bring a dictionary, please mark the dictionary with your own name and bring it to the exam hall 15 minutes before the exam starts SOME NOTES ABOUT THE EXAMS Exam papers are provided by the faculty students are not allowed to use their own papers No mobile phones Talking is prohibited Leave your jackets, bags etc. in the side of the exam hall before the exam begins We are very strict regarding cheating in the exams (f. ex. talking during the exam can be considered as cheating) 5
