1 Julie Gawrylowicz, Royal Holloway, University of London Egham, Surrey TW20 0EX Tel: Web page: Full and clean UK driving licence Personal Statement and Research Interests My research interests lie in the area of cognitive and social psychology, both theoretical and applied, encompassing research regarding memory, face recognition and meta-cognition. My research experience to date involves projects with an applied focus, specifically related to eyewitness memory and investigative interviewing. At present, I am a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at Royal Holloway, University of London. I am working under the direction of Professor Memon on a Leverhulme funded project. The research investigates meta-cognition and aging, specifically exploring methods to improve the accuracy of elderly eyewitnesses. I have been developing my knowledge and ability to ensure my work has impact as this is an important feature of the REF. I have therefore targeted my publications and dissemination to suitable audiences including practitioners. As well as being a passionate researcher, I am committed to high quality teaching. I am currently a Visiting Lecturer and Tutor at Royal Holloway, University of London and involved in large and small group teaching, marking exams, and the supervision of honours dissertations. My future professional goals include the development of my career in academia. I am keen to not only engage with projects that strengthen my own research interests, but also those within new or related areas that afford me challenges in respect of my research and academic experience. 1

Currently, I am supervising three research volunteers and assist in the supervision of three third year project students. Moreover, I have been appointed to the role of a Visiting Lecturer and Tutor at Royal Holloway, University of London and am engaging in undergraduate and Master level teaching and marking.
