23 Graduation Requirements vs. College Requirements College admission requires/recommends Algebra 2. Four years of math is strongly recommended. If going out of state, two or three years of foreign language, world history and/or performing or studio arts are recommended. Check freshman admission requirements for each college as they differ! Take ACT or repeat SAT if desired. ACT &/or SAT Math scores determine college Math placement.
24 Graduation Requirements vs. NCAA Requirements If you think you might play sports in college, you need to plan your classes accordingly! NCAA requires specific courses and more credits than what is needed to graduate. Print current Guide for College-Bound Student Athlete during sophomore year and plan accordingly. Complete the NCAA clearinghouse form the beginning of your junior year and send your transcript at the end of your junior year. More information at ncaa.org

26 Choose Classes Wisely! Requesting a class change can affect your college application. The strength of your curriculum is an important factor in your college application. If you have already submitted a college application and want to change your schedule, you must first contact the college and inform them what your schedule is, what you want to change and why. You must wait for their response before requesting to change your schedule. If you have already been offered college admission and change your schedule, the college may choose to reconsider your admission. Bottom line: Choose your classes wisely, including alternates, and stick with the decisions!
27 Course List Choose your courses from this list and NOT the handbook or Infinite Campus as not all courses listed are offered at Capital High. Each course listing describes grade level(s) it is open to, prerequisites required, and length of course. Updated class handbook is available online at
