5 Phase Out of Differential Pay for Advanced Degrees Beginning July , no teacher or instructional support will be paid on the Master Schedule, or receive advanced pay or Phd unless they were paid on the Masters schedule before July 1, Does not apply to instructional support positions which require a master s degree for licensure. (Media coordinator, guidance counselors, speech language pathologists, psychologists, audiologists, certified nurses)

10 Small County Funding reduction to the total allotment of approx $2.2m (including hold harmless). Major change to the allotment formula which results in winners and losers. LEA must have less than 3,200 ADM to be eligible Maximum funds per ADM $2,094 LEAs funded based on how close the ADM is to 3,200 multiplied by the $2,094

11 Small County Funds New formula is $28.8m instead of $44m but LEAs can not be reduced by more than 20% per year.

14 Broaden Successful Participation in Advanced Courses $1,500,000 to be used by the NC Advanced Placement Partnership (and ) $12,331,184 to be used for testing fees Advanced course includes Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB) courses Starting , students are exempt from paying exam fees. LEAs shall provide information to students and parents on the value of these courses LEAs shall ensure that all students have access to these courses in lang arts, math, science and social studies Students completing Algebra I shall have the opportunity to take the PSAT at no cost to the student.

15 Opportunity Scholarships Currently tied up in Court Reduces ADM adjustment ($11,797,941) for anticipated reduction in LEA ADM due to private school enrollment. Provides $4,200 for eligible students to attend a non public school Reduces LEA allotments for the number of students previously enrolled in the LEA/charter school in the prior semester who are now a recipient of an opportunity scholarship. Amount of reduction is equal to average per pupil allocation

16 Summer Camps Funds have been allocated to the LEAs and Charter schools based on SBE approved formula. Each LEA and charter school receive: A minimum base of $10,725 A dollar amount per allotted 3 rd grade student multiplied by the percentage of 3 rd graders who do not demonstrate proficiency in reading (FY ) The maximum funding is capped at $825 per ADM The funds do not revert at June 30, 2014 No changes will be made based on 2014 results.
