6 If a student loses an elective(s), he/she will be required take one or more of the following academic intervention classes: Reading Workshop (1 period class) Math Lab (1 period class) READ 180 (2 period class)

8 P.E. / Athletics Choices 7 th Grade One full year of athletics or One full year of P.E. or Off Campus P.E. (Application Deadline: May 1)

9 IMPORTANT Guidelines for Enrolling in Athletics for 7th Grade To sign up for 7 th grade Athletics, students must meet the following criteria: Girls and Boys must complete the What is Athletics? prerequisite during 6 th grade P.E. Boys must participate in Football AND/OR Cross Country to register for Athletics. Girls and Boys must have their online paperwork filled out in Rank One between May 1 st -10 th before they will be registered for the Athletics course.

10 If a student does not meet the above requirements but wants to participate in Athletics for Volleyball or Basketball, they must try-out and make the team before Athletics will be added to their schedule. Please contact Coach McKay (boys) or Coach Szurek (girls) if you have questions.

17 On-level Course Levels K-Level (Level 1) = Current on-level students must have 85+ yealy average in subject and parent permission Current on-level student who earns Masters level on subject area STAAR and parent permission *Math Placement from on-level to K-Level requires additional instructional program Current K-Level student must have 75+ Spring semester average in subject Horizons = Must meet subject and test qualifications & have parent permission (Parents nominate students in Fall / testing in January)

19 Removal From K-Level Courses 74 or lower semester average A grade of F for any grading period Parent removal - two opportunities to drop during grading period (progress report or report card)

20 K-Level Math Rule If student is in on-level Math this school year and wants to be in K-Level Math next year, student must: * make a grade of 85+ in on-level math (consider teacher/counselor advisement) AND * attend Summer School and score 80+ in acceleration course

28 Cypress-Fairbanks ISD - The Endorsements A student must complete the Foundation High School Program (22 credits), one additional math credit, one additional science credit, and two additional elective credits while completing the specific requirements of his/her selected endorsement. STEM Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math Business & Industry Public Services Arts & Humanities Multidisciplinary Studies Students may earn a STEM endorsement by selecting and completing the requirements from among these 5 options. Students may earn a Business & Industry endorsement by selecting and completing the requirements from among these 4 options. Students may earn a Public Services endorsement by selecting and completing the requirements from among these 2 options. Students may earn an Arts & Humanities endorsement by selecting and completing the requirements from among these 4 options. Students may earn a Multidisciplinary Studies endorsement by selecting and completing the requirements from among these 2 options. Note: Algebra II, Chemistry, and Physics are required for the STEM endorsement regardless of the option the student selects from below. Option 1: Computer Science Students take 4 computer science courses. Option 2: Foreign Language Students take four (4) levels of the same foreign language. OR Students take two (2) levels of one foreign language AND two (2) levels of a different foreign language (two levels in each of two different foreign languages for 4 credits). Option 3: Fine Arts Students take four (4) courses in the same fine arts area for 4 credits. OR Students take two (2) courses in one fine arts area AND two (2) courses in a different fine arts area (two courses in each of two different fine arts areas for 4 credits). Option 1: Four by Four (4 X 4) Students take four (4) courses in each of the four core content areas. Four (4) English credits including English IV Four (4) math credit Four (4) science credits including biology and chemistry and/or physics Four (4) social studies credits Option 2: AP or Dual Students take four (4) Advanced Placement (AP) courses for four (4) credits in English, math, science, social studies, foreign language, or fine arts. 31 Registration Dates Registration presentations to students on March 5 th during World Cultures Registration sheets are due with parent permissions on March 8 th Course verification sheets will go home mid-may for corrections and parent signature. No elective changes after May 30.
