1 Qi Ryan Wang, PhD Assistant Professor Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering College of Engineering Northeastern University (617) RESEARCH HIGHLIGHTS I study the interplay between urban informatics and urban, infrastructure, and social resilience. My research focuses on two interrelated areas: geosocial networks in big cities (collaborating with Harvard University, and Microsoft Research), and human movement perturbation under the influence of natural and manmade disasters (collaborating with Georgia Tech, Berkeley, and Virginia Tech). The big data of urban informatics used in my research are from Twitter, wireless providers, Google Maps, Google Places, Google StreetViews, Microsoft Bing Maps, Boston government, etc. RESEARCH INTERESTS Theory Urban and Social Resilience; Geo-Social Networking; Coupled Human-Natural Systems Methods & Tools Data Science; Network Analysis; Agent-Based Modeling Applications Natural Disaster Response and Evacuation; Urban Computing EDUCATION Virginia Tech Ph.D Michigan State University M.S Tianjin University, China M.S Tianjin University, China B.S APPOINTMENTS Assistant Professor Civil & Environmental Engineering, Northeastern University Assoc.
