1 Gordon Ford College of Business Faculty Research Support Program: Aim High and General Program Description Purpose The Gordon Ford College Faculty Research Support Program (FRSP) is established to support the Mission of the College by providing funding to fulltime faculty members in the Gordon Ford College for the successful engagement and completion of high quality research activities. GFCB Faculty Research Support Program selections are competitively awarded based on a review of project proposals. Nature of the Support There are two levels of Faculty Research Support under the FRSP. Aim High (Tier 2) and General (Tier 1). This support is to advance research activity and production by the fulltime faculty members in the Gordon Ford College. Workload: Both levels of support must be paid as additional regular salary and cannot be taken as professional development (PD) funding. Payments will be made in the summer. The month(s) of payment will be determined by whether or not the recipient is teaching summer session(s). Regular faculty recipients cannot teach 3 courses in the summer if they receive a full Aim High $10,000 award. Regular faculty members can teach 2 summer classes however. TIER 1 General FRSP awards will be up to $5,000. TIER 2 Aim High FRSP awards will be up to $10,000. Aim High FRSP Awards require that the proposer explicitly make the goal of the research project publication in one of the peer-reviewed journals listed on one of the departmental lists of top applied journals. To support this, each department will submit a list of the top 2 or 3 applied journals in the each of the disciplines in the department to the GFCB Research Excellence Committee. Each department will also supply indicators why each journal qualifies as being among the top 2 or 3 journals and how each journal matches the applied mission of the college. Lists may be modified by October 1 by the GFCB Research Excellence Committee based upon the recommendations of the department. Eligibility All fulltime faculty members are eligible including executives in residence, endowed professors, and department chairs. Faculty are eligible regardless of other current commitments and awards, participation in university or other grant programs, and/or the acceptance and timing of research grants in previous years except for the provisions found in Workload above. All FRSP AWARDS project proposals must be received by the Associate Dean of Graduate Programs and Research no later than 4:30 pm on November 1, or the first working day after November 1 if the due date falls on a weekend. For 2017 the deadline is November 15. Co-Proposers Only one FRSP award will be given for each research project. Multi-proposer projects are acceptable with the FRSP award divided among the co-proposers based upon a specified share ratio (such as 50-50%, 100-0% or other %) indicated by the lead investigator on the proposal form. An individual may be a co-proposer on more than one project, but any proposer may not receive more than a total of $5,000 for all proposals for the General FRSP awards or for $10,000 for Aim High FRSP awards during one annual cycle.

2 Awards in Consecutive Years All fulltime faculty members are eligible to be considered for receiving these FRSP awards each year regardless of their participation and success in obtaining FRSP awards in previous or consecutive years. FRSP Application A FRSP application must be completed according to the Proposal Guidelines and submitted to the Associate Dean of Graduate Programs and Research (GPR) on or before the deadline given above. Major considerations in evaluating these proposals for funding are proposal quality, expected impact of the project outcomes, and the documented outcomes and publication success resulting from previous FRSP awards. For Aim High FRSP awards, the explicit intended outcome of the project must be to publish in a journal on the list of top applied journals as created by the Research Excellence Committee. FRSP Proposal Evaluation The submitted FRSP proposals will be evaluated and ranked in terms of quality and impact by the college s Research Excellence Committee. Project FRSP awards will then be made by the Gordon Ford Administrative Council (GFAC) in consideration of that ranking and evaluation. Summer FRSP Program Timeline Project proposals due to Associate Dean of Graduate Programs & Research (GPR) o November 15 (2017) November 1 in the following years starting 2018 Project rankings completed by the Research Committee and provided to GFAC: o December 1 Project awards made and distributed by GFAC: o December GFAC 1 st Project Progress Report Due to Associate Dean of GPR o September 15 2 nd Project Progress Report Due to Associate Dean of GPR o February 15 Presentation of project goals, hypotheses, methodology, outcomes or progress to date, lessons learned, etc., to college faculty, students in class, or open forum in Grise Hall. o By April 1 Failure to fulfill any of the reporting obligations in the Timeline of the summer FRSP program may make the proposer(s) ineligible from participating and receiving future FRSP awards.
