11 Outcomes, do not add or delete columns. Space is provided in these sections for four direct measures of student learning, four indirect measures of student learning, and eight operational assessment measures/methods. If you are employing fewer than this number of assessment instruments, simply leave cells in the unused columns blank. If you are employing more than this number of instruments, you will need to create additional summary-of-achievement tables to report your assessment information. Delete rows in the assessment results tables that do not apply to your academic business unit (e.g., if the business unit does not offer any majors, concentrations, specializations, emphases, options, or tracks in its programs, or if the business unit s current outcomes assessment plan does not include student learning assessment information for the majors, concentrations, specializations, emphases, options, or tracks in its programs, then delete those rows in the tables). In the sections of the assessment results tables entitled Summary of Achievement of Intended Student Learning Outcomes and Summary of Achievement of Intended Operational Outcomes, enter Met in a given cell of the table if the performance target for the instrument in that column was achieved for the intended outcome in that row; Not Met if the performance target for the instrument in that column was not achieved for the intended outcome in that row; or N/A (Not Assessed) if the instrument in that column does not measure the intended outcome in that row. Student learning performance objectives are the measurable targets/criteria associated with the assessment instruments and rubrics used by the academic business unit in determining whether the intended student learning outcomes have been achieved. For example, if the academic business unit is using a comprehensive project in a capstone course as a direct measure of student learning, then a performance objective might be that, on the project evaluation rubric, at least 80% of the students will be rated at the highest level (e.g., proficient, exemplary, etc.) on each learning-outcome-related project evaluation criterion. Operational performance objectives are the measurable targets/criteria associated with the assessment instruments used by the academic business unit in determining whether the intended operational outcomes have been achieved. For example, if the academic business unit has identified an operational outcome pertaining to faculty teaching and is using a senior exit survey as a measure of this outcome, then a performance objecitve might be that 90% of the students will be either satisfied or highly satisfied with various aspects of faculty teaching as identified by relevant items in the survey form. Your student learning assessment results tables need to include two or more direct measures of student learning and two or more indirect measures of student learning for each IACBE-accredited program. These measures must be used at the program level. At the bottom of each assessment results table, space is provided to identify changes and improvements that you plan to make as a result of your assessment activity. Italicized entries in the form represent areas where the academic business unit should insert its own assessment information. IACBE Annual Report:
12 Other Issues Closing of an Off-Site Campus: Lincoln As indicated in the Annual Report for , we continued to offer programs that were moved to the main campus from the Lincoln site. Consistent with the Higher Learning Commission requirements, we continued to teach out the remaining four students from the business administration program. These students had not completed their program during reporting period. All the remaining four students have now graduated. Two students graduated in Fall 2013 and the remaining two students graduated in Spring We therefore do not have anymore students in the Weekend College for both the Business Information Systems and Business Administration programs. Outcomes Assessment Timeline As indicated in the previous annual report, our Outcomes Assessment cycle timeline is not aligned with the IACBE Annual Reporting period. We are currently processing the academic assessment reports for the period and these will be finalized in May We are therefore using the academic assessment reports for as these reports have been used to close the loop in time for the current annual report. Outcomes Assessment for the revised programs As a follow up to the narrative that was provided in the previous report, our Annual Reports have included outcomes assessment reports for the revised programs in addition to the reports for the programs that were originally accredited programs, namely Business Administration (BSA), Business Information Systems (BIS), and the Business Leadership Degree (BLD). We have been collecting data and closing the loop for the revised programs and these are CSM Business and the Business Leadership and Management (BLM) programs. The BLM program revised the Outcomes Assessment plan and it is being submitted with this annual report. These outcomes assessment reports are being submitted to demonstrate our commitment for continuous assessment of the revised program and also to facilitate the accelerated accreditation during the reaffirmation site visit that is slated for early The outcomes assessment plans for the revised programs were submitted in the Annual Report and the assessment reports have been submitted ever since. We also wish to report that all students from the BSA and BLD have graduated from the respective programs. The BIS program has one student at our main campus (not to be confused with the Lincoln Site) who is on track to graduate in spring The student graduated with an Associate degree in spring but was allowed to complete the bachelor s degree because she had already completed the major courses. The emphasis on outcomes assessment is now being shifted to the revised programs because there is no more justifiable data to report for the discontinued programs. We have been constantly seeking guidance from the IACBE office to ensure that correct processes are followed. Notes on Reaffirmation Site Visit As we reported in the last annual report, our accreditation expiry date is set for September In anticipation of the deadline, we have developed a timeline to ensure that we can gradually prepare for the reaffirmation process while not overlooking the necessary resources required for the preparation. A representative of the academic business unit attended an all-day site visit workshop at the 2014 IACBE Annual Conference in San Diego in April. This was consistent with the new IACBE requirement that IACBE Annual Report:
13 makes the workshop mandatory for institutions planning for a site visit. Useful information was sourced from the workshop and will enable us to begin the self-study process beginning February 2015 in time for the academic year data availability. Using that timeline, we will be able to populate the self-study report with the academic year data during the May-July 2015 period. The timeline should allow for the submission of the reaffirmation request to IACBE in August 2015 (6 months-notice prior to the site visit). We should be able to submit our self-study draft report to IACBE for mentoring feedback on the completeness of the report during the same period. Subsequently, the final self-study report for site reviewers will be submitted by December 2015 or early January 2016 (60 days prior to the site visit as stipulated in the accreditation manual) so that we can host a site visit by the end of February/early March of We anticipate the timeline to be adequate for our reaffirmation process that we anticipate to be completed before September We have been aligning the timeline with our outcomes assessment for the two revised programs that are not accredited to allow for opportunities to close multiple loops before the next site visit. We are therefore anticipating that we will have closed the loop three times for the CSM Business program outcomes assessment and two times for the Business Leadership and Management program.
