The Department of Commerce was established in the year The Department has well qualified, competent faculty who are dedicated to train the students to meet the requirements and challenges of contemporary business environment. The Department offers six UG courses, keeping in pace with the development in the field of commerce. The Department of Commerce is organising a three day International Conference on Global opportunities and challenges in Commerce on 19 th, 20 th and 21 st January The theme of the conference encompasses all the vital components of commerce like :Accounting & Finance, Banking & Insurance, Human Resource Management, Marketing,Information Technology, Tourism and General Management. This International conference aims at providing an opportunity for exchange of ideas and dissemination of knowledge among Academia, Industry, Research Scholars, and Entrepreneurs to identify and craft pioneering strategies to grab the opportunities and overcome the challenges. In the present complex, critical and competitive global environment, it is a challenging task to ensure trust on the accounting practices, financial strategies, banking and insurance policies, and management practices, due to the abuse of standards, gaming of capital requirements etc. The internet exploration, radical transparency, ecological overshoot, climate crisis, financial complexity and higher stakeholder expectations made the accounting, finance and management functions tough, which necessitate focusing on various dimensions of business models, and the commercial prospects of the enterprises with which they engage. The College has completed 20 eventful years in its journey in imparting quality education to thousands of students. Of late, the field of Commerce is undergoing rapid changes and the academicians are struggling hard to keep pace with the changes. The areas of Commerce which are witnessing fast changes include Accounting, Finance, Banking, Trade, Taxation, Marketing, HR and General Management. The focus of accounting, for example, has been shifting from computing to analysis. Business Analytics has become the most sought after field where the job opportunities are plenty for the right candidates.
