4 President Welcoming Message Dear Students, I glad to welcome you as new members of the Emirates College of Technology (ECT) family. ECT was established in 1993, and has been one of the pioneering private higher education institutions to obtain academic licensure and accreditation for its programs in the UAE. Ever since establishment, ECT has been keen on offering outstanding academic programs of bachelor and diploma degrees, which have been carefully designed and selected to meet the labor market needs, while simultaneously keeping up with accelerating professional and academic developments, all towards the achievement of ECT mission that is mirrored into its emblem We Prepare for Future Careers. 8 ECT Journey Year of 1993 Year of 1995 November 2003 April 2004 September 2005 August 2007 The Emirates Institute of Technology (EIT) was established and accredited by the Ministry of Education to provide training programs in computing, management and languages EIT offered the Business Administration and Computer Information Systems Diploma in cooperation with Northwood University in USA and Lambton College in Canada The academic section was recognized by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research The academic section was renamed as Emirates College of Technology (ECT). Also, ECT obtained accreditation for its Two-Year diploma program in Business Administration and Computer Information Systems (Double Major) Inauguration of ECT s main campus in Hamdan Street in the heart of the capital Abu Dhabi Accreditation of ECT s two-year Diploma Program in Human Resource Management (HRM) by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research

33 The Distinctive Foundation Program For students with less than 60% in General Secondary results The Foundation program of the Emirates College of Technology is an entry to the academic programs, and aims to end the possible gaps between the students minimum required academic skills after their Secondary graduation and the required academic level to be successful at college. The ECT Foundation program continuously undergoes development to cope up with changes, and meet the needs of students and the educational system of the UAE.

34 Registration and Admission Requirements Filling the forms of admission and approval of all ECT rules and regulations Original or true copy of Secondary Certificate British system school students need to finish seven courses at least in the ordinary level (O-levels), and the Advanced supplementary level (A-levels or AS), provided they receive grade (C). English proficiency certificate (IESOL,TOEFL,IELTS, EmSat) 3500 AED as first payment Two personal photos Passport photo Emirates ID English Language Proficiency IESOL Certificate with an average no less than B1 for specializations taught in English or Arabic. Local TOEFL Certificate with an average of 500 or more for specializations taught in English, and no less than 450 for Arabic-taught specializations. International TOEFL Certificate with an average of 61 or more for specializations taught in English, and no less than 45 for Arabic-taught specializations. IELTS Certificate with an average no less than 5.0 for English-taught specializations, and 4.5 or more for Arabic-taught specializations. EmSat Certificate with an average of 1100 or more for specializations taught in English, and no less than 950 for Arabic-taught specializations. In case a student does not get the passing average required in TOEFL or IELTS, s/he may register for English language levels and some other courses.
