1 1 Information on the ALEGESSEC residences 2018/2019 Deadline for the Housing Application: July 6 th 2018 In order to be a priority for accommodation, please apply via the online portal on our website or your My Essec account and make the payment by this deadline All ESSEC Business School BBA exchange students who wish to apply for student housing and who meet the application deadline will be a priority for accommodation in one of the three Alegessec residences: the Hauts-de-Cergy Residence, the Linandes residence or the Port residence. Please be aware that the Parc residence is reserved for ESSEC first year students and is not available to your Program. The Hauts-de-Cergy residence is just two stops on the RER A (a 7-minute train ride) which is located in walking distance of the campus. A range of on-site services are available for your convenience: workout centers, a tennis court and a squash room, several recreational areas with a piano, a billiard, table football, and table tennis, TV rooms, a mini-market, several meeting rooms. Single and double studios* for living with a roommate are available. Monthly rent single studio is 590 euros Monthly rent double studio is 528 euros The Linandes residence is 25 minutes by foot from the ESSEC campus and easily reached by city buses as well. A supermarket, restaurants and fast foods are conveniently located nearby. This quiet residence offers single and double studios* for living with a roommate as well as a workout center and a TV room. Monthly rent single studio is 577 euros Monthly rent double studio is 489 euros

2 2 The Port Residence offers apartments for couples as well as single and double studios*. Located close to the lively Cergy Port, the residence is 5 minutes by foot from the campus and under 40 minutes from Paris by train. This recent construction is equipped with a fitness room, meeting rooms, a game room (billiard, table football, etc.), a multimedia room and a Club with a piano. Monthly rent single studio is 751 euros Monthly rent double studio is 712 euros Monthly rent couple s apartment is 955 euros * Double studios consist in two independent, private rooms for each student with a shared area containing a kitchen and bathroom. What to expect from our residences The three residences are located in walking distance of the campus or easily reached by train or city buses. Paris is easily accessible by RER train from Cergy which gets you to the center in less than 40 minutes. Each residence provides a protected environment and a high standard of accommodation. The ALEGESSEC administrative and logistical teams are dedicated to accompanying you throughout your stay. What does your rent include? Among the many services offered by each residence, your monthly rent at Alegessec includes the cost of all the following:

3 3 Rent for a furnished room. Heat, electricity and water. Maintenance work in your room. Parking, laundry. Fitness rooms, co working spaces and recreation areas. Assistance with your housing subsidy application (as an intermediary only). Housing tax and Internet by a private provider are at the student s cost. The Housing application You can access the Housing application via an online portal on our website or on your My Essec account. The application is under My housing application, but please note that the link will not be available before June 7th, Please fill out the application and please note that you must also pay the reservation fees of 1187 through the portal ( 590 reimbursable security deposit; 99 annual membership fee; 299 administrative fee, 199 admission fee*). *From 49 to 199 depending of your situation Contract length and key pick-up dates The length of your housing contract should correspond to the length of your study period at the ESSEC Business School. Contract start date Keys will be distributed at the Welcome Center on campus: From August 28 th to 30 th, 2018 Orientation Session on Friday August 31st, 2018 Please be aware that if you need to arrive before these dates, you will have to stay in a nearby hotel and return to ALEGESSEC on the next working day. 4 4 ALEGESSEC office hours: Monday and Wednesday from 2 pm to 5:30 pm Tuesday and Thursday from 9 am to 5:30 pm Friday from 9 am to 4:30 pm If you arrive outside our office hours, please contact us at least 3 days before your arrival. Contract end date The end date must be the last day of the month in which your program ends as all months begun are due in full. However, please keep in mind that contract lengths are flexible and can be easily extended or reduced with no penalty provided proper notice is given. Please see the Rules and Regulations document available at for further details. Purchasing a Welcome Kit A welcome kit can be reserved and includes plates, cups, cutlery, pots and pans, as well as sheets, a pillow and blanket. The individual kit is optional and costs 99 for a single/double studio to be paid at the time of reservation. If you reserve a couples apartment, the price of the kit is 155 and includes items for two people. Please note that if you do not order this kit, there will only be a bed and mattress (no sheets, pillows or blankets) in your room when you arrive, and you will have to arrange for your own sleeping comfort (sleeping bag, etc.), at least for the first night. Confirmation of your Reservation and Room Assignment 1. Confirmation of receipt of your application will be sent by from Alegessec as soon as your file is received and processed. 2. Please note that we cannot confirm accommodation to students who do not comply with the deadline or who do not send a complete file, including proof of payment for the reservation fees, with their application. 3. Your accommodation will be confirmed during the month of July. 4. ALEGESSEC will do its very best to accommodate you in your first housing choice.

5 5 Housing Insurance When you arrive to pick up your keys, you will have to pay for a mandatory housing insurance policy (if you don t already have one valid in France). This is mandatory by French law and applicable to all housing rentals; no exceptions can or will be made. Please be aware that you can go online and insure your studio before your arrival with our partners at: Further details will be provided with your reservation confirmation. Who is eligible for the APL Housing subsidy? All students may be eligible for APL, a housing subsidy which can substantially reduce their monthly rent, depending on their own personal revenue, as well as other factors. Please refer to the application document for details regarding the necessary items for your APL request. Alegessec will assist in the APL application process for all students who are not French citizens. Concerning applications for a visa and residence permit (carte de séjour) please contact Mrs. Evelyne Nickel (nickel@essec.fr) or Mrs. Edith Nguyen (edith.nguyen@essec.edu) at the ESSEC Office of Student Affairs before you come to the ESSEC Business School. In order to apply for APL you must have: a bank account in France. your original birth certificate and its translation in French which must be stamped by the French embassy or consulate in your home country. More details are provided in the application. Please read the APL section carefully.

6 6 The APL application process must be completed by the student, once keys have been picked up, on the CAF website with the help of the procedure guide given out on the day of your arrival. If eligible, your APL subsidies will be sent directly to ALEGESSEC which will then deduct the amount from your monthly rent. You are expected to pay your full monthly rent until the subsidies are received. Important warning for non European Union residents In the past, semester students from some countries have had difficulty in obtaining a visa which enables them to apply for the carte de séjour. It is important to understand that the final decision about the kind of visa you are given depends entirely on your local French Consulate. Neither ALEGESSEC nor ESSEC Business School can intervene with government authorities to change these decisions. Security deposit and room inspections The deposit which you pay to guarantee your room reservation cannot in any circumstances be used to pay your final month s rent. You must therefore budget accordingly to be able to pay rent for the full duration of your housing contract. Before leaving your room for the last time, you must clean it thoroughly and then have a room inspection carried out in conjunction with the ALEGESSEC staff. The security deposit will be returned to you within 60 days after your contract end date in accordance with French law. It may be subject to deductions if there is any damage or degradation in your room noted during the inspection. Living Off Campus All ALEGESSEC residences are conveniently located near mass transportation which can get you into Paris in under 40 minutes. We encourage all exchange students to live in one of the Alegessec residence halls not only for the ease of getting to and coming home from classes, but also because: Classes can begin early in the morning, meaning you leave central Paris with rush hour traffic; Classes can finish in the evening, meaning you get back to central Paris and home late;

7 7 You will have team assignments with your classmates which are easier to complete when you live in the same place. And, finally, with more than 100 student associations, the ESSEC Business School campus offers a rich and dynamic social environment.
