Walsh School of Foreign Service ESADE is an independent nonprofit university institution, founded in 1958 in Barcelona when a group of entrepreneurs and the Society of Jesus members joined forces. It s main academic activity takes place on its Barcelona and Madrid campuses. It also holds many activities in Miami. The Global Environment of Business Business, Government, and the Global Economy International Business Management Financial Statement Management Political Economy of International Business The live case studies in this course have included the pharmaceuticals industry, the trucking dispute between the U.S. and Mexico and U.S. Green Initiatives, and the spirits industry today and during the Prohibition Era. All cases raise important questions about the confluence of market and non-market strategies. The aim is to use the analytic tools covered in Module 1 to examine how businesses interact with governments at home and abroad in shaping the playing field on which they compete. Participants work in teams to analyze the case study and present their findings. MODULE 2: SEPTEMBER BARCELONA & MADRID Dynamics of Globalizing Industries Industry Economics Competitive and Corporate Strategy Platforms of Corporate Finance Industry Dynamics This integrative course is composed of a business simulation and focuses on a fast-moving consumer goods industry, guided by industry executives and a proven, proprietary industry simulation to: Identify drivers of industry change. Devise new firm strategies to improve profitability and gain long-term competitive advantage. Negotiate mergers and acquisitions, partnering agreements, and alliances. Contrast challenges in industrial markets (Module 1) with challenges of fast-moving consumer goods markets. MODULE 3: NOVEMBER SAN JOSÉ & PANAMÁ CITY Global Strategies for Sustainable Business Doing Business in Latin America Marketing for Global Executives Global Strategies & Sustainability Global Operations & Supply Chain Dealing with complexity and System Thinking Integrative simulation that combines knowledge and new competencies required to manage complex problems in environments with high uncertainty and limited information. This integrative course includes a visit to Canal de Panama. MODULE 4: FEBRUARY DOHA & BANGALORE Global Management: Capabilities and Processes Managing Human and Social Capital Managing Knowledge and Technology Doing Business in the Middle East and North Africa Consulting Project This integrative course is a live consulting project conducted for companies operating in the Indian market or Indian firms operating abroad. Pre-module preparation on the economy, business systems, politics, and culture give students in depth knowledge of the local market. Participants apply their broad knowledge of political, economic, industry, firm, and functional concepts to company projects. Teams of 4-5 participants prepare and present consulting projects to client firms.

Leading Global Transformations Entrepreneurship / Intrapreneurship Succeeding in Emerging Economies Comparative Institutional Analysis Cross Cultural Leadership In this integrative course, participant teams will focus on the development and analysis of a series of applied case studies through in-company inmersion to: Understand innovative processes in established and emerging firms. Apply industry and market analysis frameworks and tools to identify and assess attractive opportunities. Global Leadership and Innovation Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability Managing in a Global Economy Management Communication Electives Global Financial Residency (New York) The class hears from experts at major New York-based financial organizations that include commercial banks, investment banks, and exchanges, to identify the globalizing trends affecting these institutions. The class then analyzes these trends and assesses the implications for successful leaders and organizations in the future. 7 Admissions We are looking for a diverse group of men and women from a variety of nationalities and backgrounds, including the humanities and natural sciences. A business background is not required, but all applicants should have a current international job profile and demonstrate good interpersonal skills and a capacity for leadership. Those holding a bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university are eligible for consideration for admission. In addition, applicants should have, at a minimum, 10 years of postgraduate professional experience, and have the quantitative aptitude needed to succeed in this rigorous program. GEMBA Admissions Process 1 Submit An Application CV or Resume: 10 years of work experience minimum. Academic Records: Official transcripts must be received from all universities that have conferred a degree. Non-English transcripts should be translated by a certified translation agency. GMAT score report: Only if requested to confirm quantitative skills. Personal Statement of Purpose Employer Letter of Support Application Fee: 175 USD (non-refundable) Two Recommendations: Submitted online and written in English. The first should come from your immediate supervisor, and the second from someone that can speak to your potential and professional background. Proof of English Proficiency: Only if requested for non-native English speakers. Interview: By invitation only. 2 Interview The joint-admissions Committee will evaluate a candidate s application only when all application requirements have been met. Candidates with strong, compelling applications will be invited for personal interviews. 3 Admissions Decision Applicants will receive their final admissions decision one-to-two weeks after successful completion of their personal interviews. 4 Scholarships The GEMBA program offers scholarship opportunities based on merit and/or financial need.
