4 PROGRAMME OBJECTIVE: The core of the investment banking role is raising money for a client. This is primarily done in two ways - by issuing equity and debt of the company. A company wanting to issue bonds, hires an investment bank not only to help in structuring the bonds but also to tap potential investors through their vast network. It works the same way for raising capital - by selling equity, or stock. Investment bankers serve as the primary go-to people when a company holds an Initial Public Offer (IPO) to sell stock to the public. The role of the investment bankers includes the determination of the IPO price as well.

5 The Post Graduate Certificate Programme in Investment Banking (PGCPIB) is designed to offer the knowledge required for professionals to handle the various aspects of Investment Banking including asset management, security valuation, stocks, bonds and other derivative instruments to meet specified investment goals for the benefit of the investors. The course also aims to teach how the other functional areas of investment banking such as mergers & acquisitions, investment & portfolio management and investment advisory services can be applied to benefit high net worth individuals. The programme also covers the knowledge of tools and techniques required for optimising risk-returns frameworks within different asset classes. The programme provides real-time knowledge and skills pertaining to investment banking. In short, the programme will enable participants to take informed and effective decisions in the areas of M & A, IPOs, Valuation, Bond Trading Portfolio Advisory Services etc., and also provide them with hands-on knowledge and skills to become a successful Investment Banker. The programme will groom commerce or non-commerce graduates for core investment banking and other specialised finance jobs allied to investment banking, equity research, credit analysis, financial analysis, project finance, portfolio management, capital markets etc. By undertaking this course, one can gain in-depth knowledge of the concepts and the real life application of Finance, which are covered along with practical case studies. The flexible design of the programme will help both, full-time students and working professionals, to pursue the programme successfully. The objective of the programme is to educate those who aspire to join the investment management field with or without prior exposure and experience in the field. The programme is structured in such a way that the participants from other streams can acquire the essential knowledge to become an investment management expert. It is designed to benefit executives who have recently taken on, or are being groomed to take on significant managerial responsibilities in the future in the field of investment management. The programme will draw upon the work experience of such executives and provide additional knowledge and skills to make them effective investment managers. ELIGIBILITY: Graduates / Post Graduates from universities recognised by the Association of Indian Universities with minimum 50% marks in either graduation or post graduation (or its equivalent) with at least two years of work experience. 6 ADMISSION PROCEDURE: I. Application Form: All interested candidates should fill out the application form downloaded from our website and send to IIM Indore directly. The completed application forms should be accompanied by a Demand Draft (DD) / Banker s Cheque (BC) drawn in favour of Indian Institute of Management Indore, payable at Indore for `2,500 (Rupees Two Thousand Five Hundred Only). The application form, complete in all aspects, must reach the address mentioned below on or before the last date for acceptance of applications: III. Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a personal interview. Not all candidates are called for the personal interview. The interview will be conducted through video conferencing at different study centres across India. IV. Selection: Selection to the programme is based on performance in the personal interview, the candidate s academic performance and relevant work experience. 7 PROGRAMME DESIGN: This programme consists of around 150 hours of courses delivered using an information technology platform. The programme is spread over a period of twelve months. In order to supplement the learning through the technology platform, there will also be a five-day long on-campus orientation. The Institute may change the curriculum from time to time. The duration of the programme will be twelve months. PROGRAMME FEE: The programme fee is `3,00,000 (Three lakhs only) plus taxes as applicable. All payments are to be made in favour of Indian Institute of Management Indore. A commitment fee of `10,000 (Ten thousand only) plus taxes as applicable is to be paid at the time of acceptance of an offer of admission, which will be adjusted against the fee paid at the time of registration. The commitment fee is non-refundable. Once the commitment fee is paid, the balance of the fee has to be paid in installments as per the payment schedule. It can be paid by demand draft.
