There were three key things I got out of studying actuarial studies at UNSW: Technical skills, from the degree itself; soft skills, through my extracurricular activities with the Actuarial Society of UNSW; and fun, by meeting new people and participating in uni life. Having the opportunity to study the Bachelor of Commerce (International) degree has really broadened my knowledge of global business and the differences in culture that are present throughout the world. As a result, I have been able to utilise this experience to secure a position at one of the premier global property consulting firms during my final year of study. 10 8 SECTION BACHELOR SECTION OF INFORMATION SECTION SYSTEMS BACHELOR OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS A specialist degree that prepares you for a career in the information and communications technology (ICT) industry. KEY FEATURES Learn about business analytics, business programming, data management, enterprise systems, network security as well as business fundamentals such as accounting, economics, management and statistics Gain the skills and knowledge essential for developing and implementing information technology solutions for businesses Accredited by Australian Computer Society (ACS) at the Professional Level DEGREE STRUCTURE The 3-year (full-time) degree consists of 24 courses (144 UOC): Information Systems core and elective courses Business School + + core courses + Free electives General Education courses Because I studied the combined Commerce and Information Systems degree and took advantage of the opportunities provided along the way, I was able to secure internships at two of the big four professional services firms in the summer of my penultimate year. 11 CO-OP DEGREES 9 SECTION WORLD-CLASS SECTION EDUCATION SECTION Co-op scholarship programs, offered to domestic students only, have been established by UNSW and industry to provide financial support and industry training to high-achieving students. The programs combine the academic rigour of a degree with 18 months of industry experience with highly sought after sponsor organisations and a substantial tax-free scholarship paid on a per annum basis for the duration of the degree. There is also professional development and leadership training and mentoring from an academic co-ordinator. 13 WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW 11 WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW DOMESTIC UNDERGRADUATE GUARANTEED ENTRY Guaranteed Entry allows us to tell you today what selection rank (ATAR + Bonus Points) will guarantee you a place in a particular degree here at UNSW. If you have a selection rank at or above the published Guaranteed Selection Rank, you ll receive an offer to study at UNSW in the UAC Round immediately following the release of your results (as long as you ve ordered your preferences in a way that allows us to make you this offer). Eligibility All Australian Citizens and permanent residents with a high school qualification that has been completed within the last five years are eligible for Guaranteed Entry. You must not have completed any study since finishing high school. This includes university preparation programs, TAFE, private provider diplomas or university level study. futurestudents.unsw.edu.au/guaranteed-entry BONUS POINTS HSC Plus is designed to reward strong performance in Australian Senior Secondary Certificate (Year 12) subjects relevant to UNSW undergraduate degrees. Domestic students who complete an Australian Senior Secondary Certificate and perform well in subjects that are relevant to their preferred UNSW degree may be awarded a maximum of 5 bonus points.
