1 The instructions provided in this document are designed for the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) of Canvas services at CityU. When Canvas is out of service, teachers may consider using Google Classroom as a temporary channel to conduct e-learning. This document will briefly introduce the steps involved in setting up a CityU Google Apps account that provides access to Google Classroom, a platform where teachers hosting the course materials and assignments. Part I Register CityU Google Apps (GApps) account Part II Log In Google Classroom with CityU GApps Part III Join Your Class in Google Classroom Part IV Access Course Materials Part V Submit an Assignment Part VI Check Assignment Grading Page 1
2 Part I Register CityU Google Apps (GApps) account (Please skip to Part II if you already registered your CityU GApps account.) In order to use CityU GApps, you need to register for an account. 1. Browse to CityU CSC Services web page ( 2. Click Register for GApps Page 2
3 3. Log in using your CityU Electronic ID and password. 4. Click Register for the Account and follow the on screen instructions to setup the GApps account For more information about CityU GApps, please refer to Frequently Asked Questions on Google Apps Education Edition for CityU (GApps) ( Page 3
4 Part II Log In Google Classroom with CityU GApps 1. Browse to the home page of Google Classroom ( 2. Log in using your CityU GApps account If you forget your password, you can reset it by visiting the reset account password page ( Page 4
5 Part III Join Your Class in Google Classroom (After you log in Google Classroom with CityU GApps, details please refer to Part II) 1. Click the + icon to bring up the context menu 2. Select Join Class from the list of items 3. Enter the class code given by your teacher, then press JOIN to proceed Page 5
6 After a couple seconds, you will enter the class immediately. Page 6
7 Part IV Access Course Materials (After you log in Google Classroom with CityU GApps, details please refer to Part II) 1. Look for announcements and files shared by the teacher in the STREAM tab 2. Download a file simply by clicking an attachment's file name 3. (Optional) Click on Add comment... to reply to a thread Page 7
8 Part V Submit an Assignment (After you log in Google Classroom with CityU GApps, details please refer to Part II) 1. Click OPEN to enter a particular assignment 2. Select INSTRUCTIONS to view the details about the assignment Page 8
9 3. Enter YOUR WORK to start your work 4. You can either use ADD to submit an existing file / URL or 5. Use CREATE to submit a new Google Drive document Page 9
10 Once you selected your files 6. Press TURN IN to initiate the submission 7. Press TURN IN again to confirm Page 10
