1 Seminar on Marketing of Renewable Energy Products A Seminar was held for both 1st year and 2nd year MBA students on 3rd February 2016 where Mr. AlokPiri (VP- Sales of ONergy) and Mr. BimalMohanty (GM- Operations of ONergy) share their experiences and gave valuable tips on Selling Techniques adopted in rural areas, students asked questions ranging from how to start an enterprise to selling a renewable energy product. ONergy (Punam Energy Pvt. Ltd.) is a leading social enterprise established in 2009 providing decentralized energy solutions to underserved households and institutions. It was organized by Mr. SagarMohapatra of SELCO-Incubation and by Prof. Shiv Sankar Das, of SoM. Seminar on Meditation by Prof. Are Holen A seminar was conducted by Prof. Are Holen, founder of ACEM Foundation, for MBA students on 27 January Prof. Holen gave an idea on how he started this organisation, what motivated him to go for it, what challenges he faced etc. He emphasized more on Meditation and Free Mental Attitude, which is non-directive and inclusive approach of Meditation. He also gave a thought on types of Meditation as External Object (like sound of waves, sound of wind, looking to light etc.), Body (our breath, heart, sensation etc.) and Mental or Internal (Sabda). Lastly he threw a light on how we can use Meditation as a way to handle ourselves, reduce our stress and be empathetic. It was organized by Prof. Sibakripa Bose, Chief Mentor, Centurion University. Seminar on Hello Doctor A seminar was organized by Dr. Lalit (A doctor by profession and an Entrepreneur) on 24 Dec Dr. Lalit focused on his journey, about how he started his organization Hello Doctor with
2 much ups and downs, main focused was made on how to get our students involved in doing live projects in his organization and for final placements. It was organized by Prof. Haribandhu Panda, Pro-VC, School of Management. Seminar on The FDI in Retail Sector of India A seminar was organized by the School of Management, on the topic, "The FDI in Retail Sector of India", for the second year MBA students, on 16 Dec 2015, Prof.PramodPatjoshi and the undersigned were present in the seminar to speak on the subject and also to inspire the students to be involved in the discussion of the topic.mr. Saswat Nanda of the second year MBA, presented slides to put his points on FDI in retail industry.prof.pramodpatjoshi briefed the students about the impacts of FDI on Indian Economy as a whole. The undersigned made some points clear which had been raised by the students earlier during the presentation, while also discussing the points related to FDI and its impacts on organized and unorganized sectors of the economy. Seminar on Henry Steward Talks Ms. Rita Ratzir Regional Director of Henry Steward Talks (Marketing, Management, Finance, Strategy, Organisation and more) gave a talk on Steward Talks on 28 Nov 2015 on how to access to The Business & Management Collection for Centurion University, start a trial announcement and direct access link: The Business & Management Collection at our library website. It was coordinated by Prof. Shiv Sankar Das and organised by Prof. Smita Mishra Panda, Director Research Centurion University.
3 Seminar on "What Role Does HR Manager plays in Today's Corporate" Under the banner of Corporate Resource Interaction Club of School of Management, a Seminar was conducted for MBA 1st year and HR specialization students on the topic "What Role Does HR Manager plays in Today's Corporate" on 3 October The talk was given by Mr. Kulamani Panda, Jt-GM (HR) of Adventz Group with its HQ based at Gurgaon. Adventz Group is a USD 3 billion Group, which is led by Mr. Saroj Kumar Poddar, comprises 26 companies in various verticals. It is a major producer of a wide range of high-quality complex fertilizers and other agricultural inputs such as seeds, pesticides, micro nutrients and specialty fertilizers. Paradeep Phosphates Limited, Hettich India Private Limited, Zuari Seeds Limited, Style Spa Furniture Limited, ZuariRotem Speciality Fertilisers Limited, ZuariMaroc Phosphates Limited, Zuari Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited, Zuari Investments Limited, Zuari Insurance Brokers Limited, Globex Limited, Zuari Management Services Limited Texmaco Limited and many more companies are a part of it.mr. Panda described a HR manager is a 'Manager of Managers' and focused on 5 important functions: Personnel Management, Industrial Relation, Administration, Human Resource Development and Organizational Development. He discussed the roles of HR manager citing some examples from his personal experiences in Industry: Great Human being with values and ethics, Motivator, Mentor/ Coach, Assessor, Effective Team Leader, Good Listener, Master in Competency Management, A Strategic Partner, An administrative expert, An employee Champion, A Change. It was organised by Prof. Shiv Sankar Das, Faculty-cum-Research Officer, School of Management. Seminar on Job Opportunities for MBA Graduates A Seminar was held for both MBA 1st year and 2nd year students from 9:30AM to 11:30AM (for MBA 1st year) and from 11:30AM to 1:30PM (for 2nd year) on the topic of "Job Opportunities for MBA Graduates" 30 th Sep The Resource persons for the seminar were Prof. Kalyan Banerjee (Pro-VC, Learning), Prof. Haribandhu Panda (Pro-VC, SoM), Prof. P.K. Patnaik (Visiting Faculty), Mr. AdarshRath (Placement Department) The objective of this seminar was to sensitize our beloved students the current Job opportunities prevailing in the market now, from Insurance sector to Retail sector and how to prepare for it. It was organized by Prof. Shiv Sankar Das and Prof. Pramod Kumar Patjoshi. Seminar on Rural Development Under Corporate Resource Interaction Club of School of Management, a Seminar was conducted for MBA 2nd year students on the topic "Rural Development- Challenges and Future Prospects" on 24 July The talk was given by Ms. PayalNayak(HR Head of Harsha Trust, a professionally managed non-government organization (NGO), implements grassroots development projects for sustainable natural resource/enterprise-based livelihood generation and better health care in South Odisha, the heartland of poverty and left-wing extremism in India. Its approach is to work directly with the community, local NGOs and Panchayati Raj Institutions, and build their capability to sustain interventions. It promotes technology based, market linked sustainable livelihood of the rural poor, primarily through community based institutions such as Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Cooperatives. These institutions access resources and services from the government, corporate and philanthropic institutions.ms. Payal is a learner in the development sector since last 10 years. She is a Alumni of Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS) and a Post-Graduation in Gender and Development from Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, United Kingdom. She explained the students about the core essence of Rural Development, Why Rural Development? What can be the role of a Management Graduate in Rural Development? Its future prospects etc. It was an interactive session where students asked questions to her and clarified their doubts, took a note of her views and a documentary film on different initiatives taken by Harsha Trust was also shown to the students. She has agreed to take 3 students from our School for our Experiential Learning initiative. It was organised by Prof. Shiv Sankar Das, Faculty-cum-Research Officer, School of Management.
5 Seminar on Selling Process A seminar talk was held at School of Management on 16 July 2015 for MBA 2nd Year, Mr. Gyan Prakash from Colgate Palmolive, Kolkata was the resource person. He shared his experience, how he started his career from Cavinkare in 2005 and today he is heading eastern India shopper Development. He gave an overall idea on today business challenges, industry expectation from management graduates and how one has to plan his/her career in sales. It was organized by Prof. P.K. Mohanty, Dean (SoM) Seminar on Attitude for Selling A seminar was organized by School of Management on the topic Attitude for Selling on 8 July Mr. PrabhatNayak, Business Development Manager, Parle Agro, was the resource person for the seminar. Deliberation of the seminar focused on attitude of sales persons for FMCG market. He made the sessions very interesting by showing some videos on selling process, procedures being followed in today s corporate, he shared the concepts of attitude to be followed in the area of sales, types of attitude both positive, negative and its drawbacks with reference to it, he conducted some interview sessions for the students and discussed recent opportunities in the area of sales. It was an interactive session for the students where students enjoyed a lot. It was organized by Prof. Prasanta Ku. Mohanty, Dean (SoM) and was coordinated by Prof. BhagabatBarik, Faculty, Marketing.
6 Seminar on Opportunities in Media and Communications A seminar was organized by School of Management on the topic on Opportunities in Media and Communications for MBA second year students on 10April 2015, Prof. ChandrabhanuPattnaik (Director, IKS) was the resource person for the same, where the students were sensitized on recent developments areas in the field of Media and Communications and its future prospects. Seminar on Capital Market The Seminar on Capital Market was conducted by Bombay Stock Exchange Brokers Forum on 20March The speaker for the seminar was Ms. JyotiBudhia, who has nearly 30 years of experience in the areas of Equities, Derivatives, Commodities, Currencies, Trading & Investments in Various Financial Products, Portfolio Management, Advisory, Risk Management & Training segment. Ms. JyotiBudhia discussed the history of Indian Capital Market before and after 1990 s. She also shared the latest developments in BSE and NSE as well as its trading system. The seminar was coordinated by Prof. Pramod Kumar Patjoshi and Prof. Rabindra Kumar Mohanty.
7 Finance Conclave held at School of Management A Finance Conclave 2015 was organized on March 5, Resource persons from financial sectors (Indusind Bank, Bajaj Capital, Hexagon Broking) delivered the talk from their respective field. Conclave was aimed at analyzing how the Indian financial services industry, regulation and infrastructure will re-orient itself over the next decade to achieve the desired objective of supporting the nation s robust and equitable economic growth, designing curriculum and teaching pedagogy. The event was coordinated by Prof. Sudeshna Dutta, Pramod Kumar Patjoshi, and Prof. Rabindra Kumar Mohanty of School of Management. Seminar on Union Budget Analysis and its Impact on Indian Economy A Seminar on Union Budget Analysis and its Impact on Indian Economy was conducted on 5 March 2015, for MBA students. Students presented papers on the above topic and Prof. Dillip Kumar Tripathy, faculty in Economics addressed the students
8 Seminar on "Employment Opportunities and Recent Trend in Banking & Financial Services" A Seminar on "Employment Opportunities and Recent Trend in Banking & Financial Services" was organized for MBA 1st and 2nd year students on 3 March The objective was to enhance student s job prospective and further help the 1st Year Students in their Summaer Internships. The guest speaker for the seminar was Mr. Abhijit Majumdar, with 15 years of experience in the Banking and Financial services industry. He emphasised on how students can opt for a career in banking and financial services. It was coordinated by Prof. Pramod Kumar Patjoshi and Prof. Rabindra Kumar Mohanty. Seminar on Exploring Endless Opportunities with Digital Marketing A seminar was organized by School of Management on the topic- Digital Marketing - Exploring Endless opportunities with Digital marketing on 26 Feb Mr. Ratnesh Dubey, Co-Founder and Director, IDS Logic, were the resource persons for the seminar. They discussed about scope and career opportunities in Digital Marketing. The seminar was coordinated by Prof. BhagabatBarik, Faculty, School of Management.
9 Micro-Entrepreneurship Development for Solar Energy Products and Services A 10 day programme on Micro-Entrepreneurship Development for Solar Energy Products and Services started on 1st February 2016 at Centurion University of Technology and Management, Bhubaneswar Campus. This programme is jointly offered by SELCO Foundation- SELCO Incubation, Centurion University Centre for Renewable Energy and Environment (CUCREE) and School of Management. 30 Participants from Rural Odisha were trained on various aspects ranging from Electricity Basics, House Wiring and Safety standards, Installation and Maintenance of Solar Home Light System, Solar Portable Systems to Business Plan preparation, Banking and Financial issues, Selling Techniques and Behavioural aspects etc. It was coordinated by Prof. Shiv Sankar Das, Faculty-cum-Research Officer, School of Management and Mr. S.B.RathCoordinator, Centurion University Centre for Renewable Energy and Environment. Conference on "Contemporary Management Education: Creative or Dogmatic?" (Conference) A one day conference was organized by School of Management on 27 February 2015, on Contemporary Management Education: Creative or Dogmatic?" where students from GIFT, Affinity Business School and Centurion University presented papers. It was organized as part of the events in B-School Meet of Gajajyoti2K15. The event was coordinated by Prof. Pooja Patnaik, Faculty, School of Management. Solar Entrepreneurship Training Programme A week long training programme was held during 9-14 February 2015, for developing Entrepreneurs for Solar Energy service delivery. It was a collaborative effort by CUTM, SELCO Foundation and SELCO Incubation Centre. The participants were from rural areas of Thuamul
10 Rampur, Kalahandi District, Odisha. They were trained on Installation, Maintenance of Solar Home Light, Solar Portable Systems to Business Plan preparation, Banking and Financial issues, Selling Techniques and Behavioral aspects.it was coordinated by Prof. Shiv Sankar Das, Faculty-cum- Research Officer, School of Management. Odisha Economics Association Conference held at Centurion University of Technology and Management(Conference) The 47 th Annual Conference of the Odisha Economics Association was organized during February, 2015 under the aegis of Centurion University. The conference was inaugurated by Prof. Ram S. Deshpande, National Fellow, ICSSR, and Former Director ISEC Bangalore. The two themes that were focused were - Financial Inclusion in India: its Imperatives, Status and Government Police and Rural Infrastructure in Odisha: Status, Issues and Public Policies. Around 200 participants participated from all over Odisha, bringing academicians and business practitioners into one platform.
